I have ordered mayflower many times and the food is par for the pricing. What is lacking is customer service. After my order took an hour and 50 minutes and still had not been delivered, I called to ask where it was. The employee was very rude and told me it was on the way there is nothing they can do. The delivery driver did not apologize either. I work in the food industry so I understand this happens, but at the least they could have apologized. When I called to complain the manager hung up the phone despite the fact that I was being very polite about how the situation was handled. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE.

this place is hands down my favorite food joint in town, however I must warn you never order from here past 9:30 at night. They seem to get lazy and just completely slack on the quality of the food, half the time if you do it will be under-cooked, have no sauce, and just plain unedible. On the upside any other time of day its just freaking delicious and worthy of two meals from them a day. Still the best Newark has to offer, just dont fall victim to the late night short comings

Probably the best place for sushi in the Newark area, but if you order delivery dont count on your food getting to you in under an hour, no matter what day of the week or what time it is. GrubHub always greatly over estimates the delivery time for most places in order to avoid customer complaints, but I swear Mayflower PLANS on delivering your food in accordance with GrubHubs 60 to 75 minute estimated wait time for delivery. And that is just plain annoying.

Consistently Bad Service. Ive been there about 10 times cause the food Can be good BUT: Never a warm reception from any of the folks taking orders. Last time asked for order to go, was served to eat in. Took them almost FIVE minutes to put my food in styrofoam container and then the counter person let it sit there til I said hey, can I have my order? Really bizarre sense of service or should I say no service.

The food is great, but they desperately need a reliable delivery service. I guess they do not realize that they are located in a college town and that when students are studying, they do not want to pick up their food. They are constantly cancelling my orders because Im "too far". I live 5 miles from this place. If it is really that difficult for them, they need to partner with EatStreet. This is ridiculous.

I have been going there for years. Loved the place. Cheap good sushi. The service got worse and worse. I wait an hour for 2 rolls. Watching people come in after me, place an order and get there food while I sit and wait. I tipped all the time, hell I even cleaned other peoples messes that they just left all over the tables. Mayflower lost a loyal customer due to their lack of respect for their customers.

I love this place. Low prices, good sushi. Im so glad to have a sushi place with reasonable prices near where I live. I havent had any of the problems with service described in the other reviews, either. Getting food can take a few minutes at busy periods--its a college town and they have a lot of people to take care of. So do allow at least twenty minutes if you plan on eating here.

So Ive been frequenting this place for a few years now since I only live down the road. Every time Ive purchased from here Ive been more than satisfied. The sushi is delicious, whether its tuna, crab, or eel, its always fresh. They also deliver, which is awesome. I highly recommend you try this place.

The sushi here is good when they actually fill the rolls with fish or whatever is in it. It is mostly rice and a small tad bit of fish. Paid for this food yet barely any of the good stuff. Hope it was just this roll and they are always skimpy. This was on the spicy tuna roll.

Disgusting sushi! Mushy, old avocado wrapped with flavorless white rice served by an unhelpful waitress. We complained the food was inedible and received a whopping $1 off our check. Waste of money and youll leave with a sick stomach to boot.

After Mizu closed down on main st, I thought of trying this place. Mizu wasnt like the most authentic japanese places I have eaten sushi at but Mayflower sushi was disappointing. Sad, on not having any decent sushi place around :(

Ive loved this place since it was a small, primarily take-out place when it opened. Its recently expanded and upgraded their dining area and its wonderful! You would hardly believe its the same place. Great sushi, great value!

Mayflower recently remodeled with a new seating area. Their menu sticks to the basics but does it well. The Green Curry Chicken hits the spot when your sinuses are stuffed up for sure! The sushi is well-made and fresh.

Just tried it for the first time (got the 3 roll special) and my wife and I were very happy with it. Tasted fresh and reasonably priced. I cant wait to go back and try some other items on their menu.

Very reasonable prices for decent sushi. Ive certainly been to many places with better fish, but the ease and cost of this place make it hard to beat if youre not looking to sit down and eat.

Some food items are good, some are bad.. Ask for the Japanese menu card along with the English menu card.. thatll give you better variety and authenticity.. Soups can be a bit salty though..

Amazing quality for such affordable sushi. Service is amazing, albeit a little slow. Call ahead and order in advance, or be patient, but either way, the wait is well worth it.
