If youve ever been to an Urban Bar-B-Que before, stay away. The staff is nice, the food comes out relatively quickly and the store is clean (as it should be, since its new). Thats where a second star could come in. Unfortunately, thats also where the good things stop. Im not sure if they have gotten a new distributor, or stopped caring with franchises, but this is nothing like the UBQs on Norbeck or 108 elsewhere in Maryland. The meat is poor quality (changed from breast chicken to thigh, fattier wings that are hard to eat, etc), the salads are worse, and the sauce is nothing like what they originally had. It might be okay for someone who hasnt been to UBQ, but youre better off driving to Mission BBQ in Columbia or near Baltimore instead. I got the pulled chicken sandwhich. The meat was honestly disgusting; at other UBQs its high quality and juicy breast meat, here it was an overcooked mix of thigh and breast. They somehow made the chicken tough, even. We also got the sausage (a ridiculous sum of money for just a small sausage on a bun), a salad and about 2 dozen wings altogether. There wasnt a single person who didnt have a complaint. Positives about the food? The fries are great, and the cornbread was good. But unless you want to eat a meal of fried potato, I would eat elsewhere.

Update: they now have the sauces at the tables! Huge improvements to customer convenience! Ive eaten at Urban BBQ three times, twice on weekdays for dinner and once on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The two dinner times we had great food, I was ready to say that Mission BBQ had a solid competitor, not quite as good, but solid with its own strengths. The newts was great, unlike Mission, it needed the BBQ sauce, but with it on, it has great flavor. The seasoning on the fries was great, and wet loved the mac and cheese and corn on the cob. Plus their root beer! Then we went on Sunday. I was extremely disappointed. The food was very dry and not very hot. , The meat wasnt as flavorful as before. It was very disappointing. On the bright side, the sides were still great. Based on the first two visits, Ill definitely be going back, but I really hope it was one mistake. My only other gripe, and maybe because Ive been spoiled by Mission BBQ, but the barbeque sauce isnt at the tables, they are located in just two or three spots in the restaurant. So it requires additional trips to get all your things. Not a deal breaker, but annoying when you have little kids! Overall, I recommend UBQ, but is avoid Sunday lunches!

Loved UBQ when I lived in Rockville. Went to the Olney spot a couple of times too for more of a sit down dinner with larger groups. Was stoked when I saw they were opening this location closer to my new home. However this location, while good, isnt as good as the spots in Montgomery county. One of the things that sets UBQ apart from other BBQ joints is the creative menu. Soul Rolls, Urban Legend, Redneck Fondue are great! At this location the brisket has been hit or miss. Pulled pork is still on point as are the ribs. The key lime pie is also missing from the menu! Good spot but in my opinion if you want the best Urban BBQ experience head to MoCo.

The atmosphere is great. Easy parking and easy to find right by the Royal farms. I personally didnt care for their sauce selection and the brisket was very fatty. The mac and cheese was good. I really liked their mash potatoes, they had great flavor even without gravy. The cornbread had great flavor and if you like whole kernels in your bread then its a must try, I am not big on that texture but it was tasty. I will probably give it another try with pull pork or their chili since its so close by.

I know the Franchise owner from his other franchise which is also awesome. He invited me to come try this as a personal favor and described the cooking method from Back home also utilized wood and smoke for a traditional taste and also indirect heat. I bought the sandwich and fries. The girls waitstaff were genuinely friendly. Sauces like Barbq are served on the side as this is a genuine "back home" Barbq. IE Americanized but the quality of meat was good and cooked well done. Al Dante

I enjoyed the sides more than the BBQ. The brisket was dry and the BBQ sauce selection was disappointing. My plate would have been better without the cornbread maybe next time Ill try something different. Im impressed by the beer selection and craft brewed root beer on tap. The flair is average but lets face it if its good BBQ the rest doest matter. Ill give it another shot maybe for dinner when I can enjoy a cold one.

Place just opened. My office ordered a 75.00 take out order. They forgot two main entrees. We had to go back and get it. They didnt offer anything for our trouble. I got the chicken plate and for 10.00 it wasnt even as much chicken as the 6.99 chicken sandwich. The workers and kitchen had no clue what they are doing. Never going back nor is all the people in my office. GO TO MISSION BBQ

Got 5 items for take out: Pork, brisket, cornbread, cole slaw, Mac & cheese, cheese fries and Texas taco were all good. Ribs were tough to eat. Main negative - we ordered a chili dog that came with barely a scoop of chili and no cheese or green onion. Took it back, and they couldnt refund but gave a $5 coupon. Wouldve appreciated better customer service for the bad item and inconvenience.

i dont know what people could possibly complain about. I got the brisket-rib-sausage combo with corn and slaw - everything was really, really good. No, its not some world championship BBQ, but its in a strip mall a mile from the airport, not a pit in the backwoods. Dont worry about the negative reviews. If youre looking for some BBQ and a good dinner, this place is great.

Great service, decent draft selection, fantastic sides, varied and flavorful sauces, and great meat and wing selection... Why not five stars then?? Meat was a little dry and requires sauce (not necessarily a bad thing but still) and prices are a tad high. But really Im just justifying giving it 4 and not 5 stars. Its a great lunch BBQ spot where you cant go wrong.

Normally dont eat ribs from bbq joints, because I do not like throwing money away! However... a regular sold me on the food, as I was contemplating on going somewhere else! Like stomachs & taste buds seem alike. Everything I had was on point. Ever eat & forget to breathe... Ok, it wasnt that good, but it was good enough to enjoy & write a review!

Pretty good and quick BBQ place. Clean facility, some good BBQ sauces, but I wish they had a more basic sauces. Theres a Chipotle BBQ sauce they use on certain dishes, but they dont put bottles of it out on tables. But it wasnt really a big thing. Not going to rock your world, but a good BBQ place none the less.

The food was amazing, we had the Beef Brisket and the Frito Bowl. Both delicious. However the only complaint is that the brisket was alittle cool but other than that it was great. The cornbread is made at night so it was just a tad cold. All in all great local place and the Brisket was very well made.
