Id give it 6 stars if it were an option. Picking up a whole feast from Corolla Village BBQ and polishing off everything is one of my favorite things to do on our annual beach vacation. Its kind of hard to find: its nestled next to the Corolla historical schoolhouse, the town library, and a nice independently owned bookstore. Yet it is definitely worth the hard work finding it. At first glance, you may be a little bit let down, so I want to manage your expectations for its appearance: Its a shack from which you buy containers of beans, slaw, corn bread, pulled pork and of course ribs from. There are a few picnic tables outside on the gravel parking lot. But as they say, what matters the most is whats inside. And what you are going to find inside is some of the best tasting food youll have: ribs that fall off the bone, pulled pork, moist corn bread, and even the beans and slaw. Let me not oversell you lest you be disappointed. Make the drive and give it a try: you will (most likely, unless you have super discerning taste buds on the Princess and the Pea level) be delighted. Do not trust the listing closing hour - they make a certain amount of meat every day and once its gone, it is gone. Learn from my sad story, do not wait until 5 minutes before their closing time.

This is BBQ....plain and simple. The Corolla Village BBQ sits in historic Corolla village, which is worth the tour - neat buildings and shops. The food was excellent, just the right amount of smoke to enhance the meat. My kids, who can be picky eaters, tore through their BBQ chicken like they hadnt ate in weeks. The pulled pork is nicely done, and pairs well with their vinegar BBQ sauce. The sides were great as well, especially the baked beans. The ambiance is what it is, a little BBQ joint tucked in the woods of a historic town on the Outer Banks, so dont let the flys bother you. The staff was even nice enough to provide my kids with a piece of their cornbread (excellent) to feed local chickens wandering on the property. This will be a cant miss stop on our next OBX trip!

Very, very good pulled pork and beans. Tasty and tender and served with a great vinegar sauce. Their beans have a wonderfully sweet sauce and they use a nice variety of bean types (Lima!). The reason for the 3 stars, however, is that their ribs are sub-par. Definitely slow cooked, but Id be surprised if they ever saw any smoke during any of that cook time. Nice and tender but absolutely NO flavor. Tender is easy, all you need is an oven, time, and some patience. Flavor is harder to come by and unfortunately this place is severely lacking. Go for the pulled pork and beans and you wont be disappointed, but steer clear of their ribs.

This is the real deal. Dont ever eat BBQ in a place where you dont see a stack of wood. This is REAL pulled pork with REAL vinegar sauce available. Get the large sandwich with cole slaw on top, and you will not be disappointed. Peek through the order windows at the huge Southern Pride smoker in the back. This is the kind of hidden legend you always hope to find, and almost never do. Outdoor picnic table seating only, and you WILL deal with flies, so just eat fast (you probably will scarf this stuff down anyway) or eat in your car. The beans are also unique .. some local butter beans scattered in there..

The beans are good. Pork and chicken were OK, not amazing. The potato salad is BAD. This isnt the first time weve ordered it, and had the bad results. I thought it was a fluke the last time the potatoes werent cooked, but this time the potatoes were raw/hard again. Its also soupy and not creamy. We threw it away. With such a limited menu there is no excuse for serving bad potato salad. There was another issue with buns. They wouldnt sell them to us for fear they would run out and not have any for sandwiches. We eventually got buns, but this is absurd.

The food was good bbq, nothing out of this world. No drink refills. Outdoor only seating. Limited menu. The atmosphere was my biggest complaint. Flies everyehere! They had a man blowing the dirt while we were trying to which was not only painfully loud but highly annoying. A man announced himself as the manager started telling random people how he does everything around the place and then began to bang a horse shoe onto a pole to straighten it, again loud and annoying. We hurrily finished out meal and just left.

Ive been down to the OBX several times, and never have I had any barbecue. Its our last night here and I really wanted some good barbecue and besides I didnt feel like cooking. I looked around and settled on this place. And it was amazing. I got a couple racks of ribs, pulled pork, a whole chicken, and yams. Everything was delish! They were quick about it and polite. The vinegar barbecue suace was awesome. I could drink it! Its like that!

Our group was looking for something close to the Currituck light house that was good and quick. This place has great food. Our group had the pork bbq and ribs and kids got Mac and cheese and there were no complaints. It had outdoor seating at picnic tables, kids cornhole and some horseshoes out to play. Great place to eat so glad we found this place.

Hands down one of the best pulled pork bbq sandwiches I have ever had. Can get come slaw and hot sauce on the sandwich, and I feel like that takes the cake right there. Is a great little restaurant and keep it simple but it is some great bbq if your in the corolla area. Deffinetly worth the stop and try it. :-)

The line out the door gives you the first hint that whats inside is good. The meat is well smoked, tender and tasty. The sauce is closer to a traditional Carolina sauce than youll find at most places. The ribs were excellent, and the sides delicious. Just load up on bug spray, get in line early, and enjoy.

It is small, but the food is fantastic! Came here for vacation and an employee for the place we were staying said it is the best bbq in the state. He even said that if it wasnt the best I could come back and kick his butt. I never went back to do that because it truly was some of the best bbq I have had.

Officially the best BBQ in OBX (seriously, they have awards). Its a great, casual set-up with great food. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your dog. The owner is one of the friendliest people youll meet and you cant go wrong on picking your food but hell happily give you suggestions.
