We stopped in for the lunch buffet on the weekend. Zaytun serves food for the bland Wichita pallet. Its that simple. If youre expecting delicious authentic flavor from any one of the cultural dishes they claim to serve, youre bound for disappointment. IMO Zaytun attempts to lump in a menu representing a massive chunk of the world from the Mediterranean Sea to India. It basically generalizes several different cultures down to a few menu options and removes any of the outstanding flavors offered in order to cater to the local customer whos most likely not familiar with actual food from the parts of the world Zaytun claims to serve up. They could do far better. First off, realizing that grabbing lunch on a Mediterranean coast is far different from a meal you might order up in Mumbai. Not just a little different, but far from this should even be on the same menu, different. They should just add the rest of Europe to their menu. Why stop there? Why not Chinese? At the very least, offer something with a little spice to it. I will say the service was wonderful and there is a pleasant atmosphere inside. And for what its worth, their naan bread was fantastic. Perhaps after a few more years of Wichita life, and after Ive forgotten my years of living and working throughout the several parts of the world Zaytun attempts to sample from, I might come to enjoy their menu? Im not sure Ill ever be comfortable with bland curry.

Ive been to Zaytun many times over the years. I love the dinner menu and also the Sunday brunch buffet. I love how the menu includes items from the region, not just India, including Turkey, Pakistan, India, etc. Really fills a void for Middle Eastern cuisine in Wichita. The Sunday buffet is focused on Indian/Pakistani dishes. The owner is really wonderful and does his best to personally greet every table every time. Ive tried so many things on the menu except most of the vegetarian options (but I have sampled those when dining with veg friends, and all very good). My favorites are the Palak Chicken (chicken in a deliciously spicy tomato and spinach sauce with ginger and cilantro garnish- make sure to get the mint chutney with it!), the Chicken Makhni (dont expect very spicy on this one - its tender pieces of chicken in a yummy, delicate butter curry sauce), Chicken Karhai, Chicken Biryani...I could continue... oh, and the Mediterranean Quesadilla for an appetizer. The baklava is the best ever, served with a warm saffron syrup. The baklava from Zaytun is seriously one of those things I would request on my deathbed. For lunch they serve a Persian buffet which is good, too. Personally I prefer the Sunday Indian/Pakistani buffet. Everything at dinner is fresh and made from scratch, and the food on the buffet is continuously being turned over. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Highly recommended.

Eating at Zaytun is like being invited into a home for a holiday meal. Its warm, comfortable and the food is great. Our whole family loved it. If I had to pick a favorite dish it would be the Fesenjaan. Its chicken in a slightly sweet and tangy sauce made from walnuts and pomegranate. The owner, Syed Abbas, says it takes about five hours to make. He starts by slowly cooking the oil out of powdered walnuts, then he adds pomegranate juice and chicken and stews it over low heat until its the right consistency. The result looks like brown muck, but the taste is light and delicate. There are lots of other interesting entrees too. Syed is from Quetta, which is in Pakistan, but its close to India, Afghanistan and Iran. He serves food from the entire region. The prices are pretty reasonable. Four of us ate lunch for about fifty bucks. Theres no alcohol, but great homemade tea from the restaurants own recipe and mango lemonade.

Im a food critic and Ive been to many different countries like Bahamas and Venezuela, Korea and Germany... and over 20 states in the United States including a lot of southern states like Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida... Ive eaten some of the best foods imaginable and I have got to say.... hands down, Zaytun has the best Tandoori Chicken Masala Ive ever tasted. The owner has such a positive attitude and hes got a great management based skill set with a friendly character that brings the restaurant to life. I dont work there and Im a real person. My name is Christian Brathwaite and if you love tasty food then you have to try Zaytun while in Wichita Kansas!!!!!! God bless!

The presentation of the food is first-class, surrounded by the lovely decor and atmosphere of the place. Food tastes great, and the price is right for the portion that they serve. The buffet seems limited in terms of choices but rest assured that each tray is replenished often, so youll never run out of food. Of course, a trip would not be complete without a personal greeting from the owner himself, who will pay a visit from table to table to gain feedback from people. The food serves 100% Zabihah/Halal food for those practicing the Muslim faith. Highly recommended.

There are many VEGETARIAN options. The portions are big, you get 2 meals out of 1. The Vegetable biryani is succulent and filling. The Vegetable qorma is delicious and flavorful-I dont mind it being spicy. The Fattoush salad is great, but if you dont like onions, ask them to leave them out. Also, this salad is overpriced-you can get more for your money at N & J. The Masala dosa is a great concept, but lacking in flavor. The Vegetable all the way pizza is nothing special, just a cheese pizza. The Aloo matar doesnt taste like curry, as it is described on the menu.

If you love Indian food, this is a fantastic place to eat, especially the Sunday buffet! Its $15 per person, but the buffet includes many different kinds of curry, tandoori chicken, and many more dishes plus wonderful desert options. When I visited, there were 3 different desert options including bread pudding. Theres also bottomless chai tea included in the buffet price. My husband ordered coffee (the picture here), and I also ordered Lassi, a wonderful yogurt drink to have along side of curry. Owner goes around to say hi and check on every table.

There is nothing Asian about it, the only exception is their Halwa. Menu is overboard with lot of fusion. Not a place for vegetarians. People from Indian subcontinent should understand the menu before ordering otherwise the outcome will surprise you. We had ordered Tandoori chicken for our kids, we specifically asked the waitress about the dish but we were given Mcchicken Patty(in red color) with rice in a big dish.. We were jaw dropped. Its more Moroccan theme... Bad service, bad food.. Expensive. Strictly avoid it.

The food was amazing. You can tell the chef makes everything from scratch. It tasted amazing and fresh. And to top off the meal amazing turkish coffee. Hard to find a place that does it right. The service was Ok. I think one of the waiters was running late and the girl serving was new. She didnt know a lot about the menu. Once the other waiter showed up the service was much better. The owner brought us our food and was super nice. I would highly recommend this place.

Went there for the buffet. Not a very big selection and what there was with lukewarm and bland. The pita bread was hard and stale and flavorless. The service was the only thing that was worse than the food. After asking 3 times to have our waters filled the waitress still didnt fill them. We had to go up and fill them our selves. She didnt acknowledge us when we asked questions. The worst server Ive ever had. Extremely rude. I will never go back.
