My husband and I went to visit Octave Grill in our town, we heard so many reviews on how good it was, well, let me tell you about our experience. We went there on a cold Sunday afternoon around 5pm, starving and wanted to try something different. There was only 2 tables filled when we arrived. The waitress sat us right in front of the kitchen, I did not want to see my food being prepared, didnt like that. She asked us what we wanted to drink, but I think she forgot about us, then she asked us for our order, I ordered the cheddar burger and my husband had the burger with goat cheese and salad, I asked for medium well, I got pink on the outside red in the middle, My husband ordered his medium and his was about well done. It took along time for us to get the check, people that came in after us were served before us and left while we were eating, they had a different waiter. He seemed much better. I will not go back, did not like the food and dont agree with the other reviews that we had heard. Sorry it was a bad experience for me and my husband......

"Tallgrass beef" burgers are worth the wait (30 minutes on the Wednesday that we went). For your first time, you may just want the basic burger to savor the beefiness. I had the "Figgy Piggy," in which the prominent flavors are the fig jam (dark sweetness) and goat cheese. (Recommended.) You can get your burger with a side of sweet potato tots, which is a nice change from basic fries. My son had the regular fries, which were just fine. We also had perch cakes for appetizer that were mostly fish, not filler; so I think it might warrant the price. Well definitely go back there. Its a cut above that fancy burger restaurant in Valparaiso, if only for the tallgrass beef.

I won a $25 gift certificate for here, which is evidence that they support local 5k runs, the Tower Run in Michigan City to be exact. The waitress even remembered writing it! Her sister owns the place. I have to say, they won me over! Great food, great decor, and break your mundane chain food cravings, by eating local! They are cheaper than Applebees and will have you craving more of their amazing burger creations! What a small hidden gem in downtown Chesteron!!! The waitress was correct when she confidently said that I will be back!

This smallish crack-in-the-wall eclectric place is great; wish Hobart had one! They had a terrific choice of unique and delicious burgers, even the fancier mac n cheese earned an "A". Well worth the extra couple dollars. All the desserts are homemade, so save room to try one. We shared a very good Frozen Key Lime Pie. Even though they have a good selection of beers, and some mixed drinks - - it is strictly Non-Smoking - Great!!! Will be back when in Chesterton again.

The burgers here are amazing! Absolutely you wont regret eating here. Local artists are also showcased as part of the decor. You must know that this place is SMALL; thats part of the charm.Too small to do reservations; you have to tell them your party size and wait for a table to become available. While you wait, visit another local business like the Flower Cart or the library, both within walking distance. Theyll text you when your table is available.

Loved this place! Great burgers! One of the best weve ever had! Burgers are big, juicy, and full of flavor! Fries are good and the taco tots are definitely worth trying! Great experience! Highly recommend this place! The restaurant itself is very small inside but its cozy and eclectic. Music was a tad too loud for us but wasnt a deal breaker. If youre a cold person....I highly recommend the seats that sit right over the vents!! :)

There is no better place to eat in Chesterton. Octave has some of the best burgers I have ever had. The food is always fresh and artfully paired with toppings and cheese. I have loved everything Ive eaten here, and Ive managed to make my way around the menu. The atmosphere is quaint and hip, giving the restaurant an exclusive vibe. Service is always good and the drinks are great. Not a single complaint here!

After 4 or 5 hours yesterday walking the dunes (yes, we got a little bit lost . . . ) we stumbled into Chesterton for supper. Our 35-minute wait was well worth it! There are a variety of local beers on tap and some truly innovative hamburgers (one with cheetohs . . . no, really) combined with attentive service and cozy atmosphere -- all of it made for the perfect ending to a great Sunday outing.

Delicious! Had the basic burger medium rare, with white cheddar, hands down best burger Ive ever had. Also had the fries and peanut butter brownie dessert. Both were top notch! I highly recommend trying this place out. Definitely a small little restaurant so be prepared, they also dont have high chairs or booster seats.

Every road trip we take, we stay near Chesterton specifically to get a burger at Octave Grill. The food and service is always fantastic! Edit 8/1/17, another fantastic burger at Octave! Last year I lived the Figgy Piggy, this year I destroyed the Gouda BBQ and shared the brownie dessert with salted Carmel ice cream!

Unique delicious burgers. Every month they have a specialty burger to try. My favorite is hot pants. They also have great sandwiches. The Jerk Store is my choice for chicken. For those who do not eat meat, you can exchange the grass fed beef with a black bean burger and it is just as tasty! Highly recommend!

Because of high quality specialised burgers, supporting local produce, lovely mood and friendly staff it is a 5 star place. One of the best hamburger I have ever tried and very good service. Unique menu with local produce and specialty drinks. Try their tipsy cider. The sitting area is small but romantic.

Such a quaint, original, and comfortable little diner. The food is truly delicious, and the staff is always pleasant and catering. It is indeed quite cramped with a tiny space to eat, but if youre totally fine with rubbing elbows with your neighbor, youll feel at home!

This place is small but not uncomfortable small, cozy small. The staff have always been kind and considerate. They provide wonderful service. I gave them four stars because theres always room for improvement. Otherwise, consider this a five star food experience.

2 stars because of the music. Great food, but in the last year or so they have been playing the music so loud that its impossible to have a conversation during dinner. We wont go back. It may be that they are trying to grow the 20 something trade.

This hole-in-the-wall is one of the new additions to the food scene around Chesterton. Great food, great beer selection, great people. Although small it doesnt feel too crowded. I also love the monthly specials. A must come back kinda place.

My burger was very good, the service was excellent, and we loved the beer selection. The music playing while we ate was great, it complemented the restaurants vibe. If Im ever back in Chesterton again, I will definitely stop here again.
