Quick and dirty review: Cheap and fast service, pretty decent food. There is a saying when it comes to food and its "Good, Cheap, Fast," choose two. This basically means that there is always a balance- very rarely are you ever going to have a perfect balance of all three. I came here for a lunch special and for less than $10, you get a large serving of your favorite entree, soup, and rice. Go with another person and you have a pretty cheap lunch. I started out with the hot and sour soup which was good but nothing special. Didnt stop me from eating the entire thing. Entrees we had were Broccoli Beef and kung pao chicken. Both were pretty good but nothing special. The service was friendly and very fast which is a big plus. Parking is hell but there is valet so that is a big plus. Overall, I would come back, but I wouldnt go out of my way to come here, as it is way on the other side of LA.

Weve been coming here for 16 years and Ive eaten everything on the menu and just about everything is great. I stopped going for dinners because its a bit pricy, but the lunch deals are a great deal and essentially the same thing as dinner but half the cost. Here are my favorite dishes: Salted Pork Chops, Steamed Ginger Fish, Walnut Shrimp, Slippery Shrimp, Chicken and Broccoli (the beef in beef and broccoli is a bit chewy, but the chicken is devine), Sweet and Sour Shrimp (ask to have the sauce on the side so you can dip, its fresher this way and doesnt made the fried shrimp soggy. I also love the Mapo Tofu. Its not Arcadia level Chinese food, but Hop Li is the best Chinese on the Westside.

I like this joint. It has no ambience whatsoever, and waitstaff is on the brusque side (although the busboys are super nice) but its good for when you need a solid Chinese food fix on the Westside where there is a clear dearth of Chinese food. Everything weve had there is decent from the fried pork chops to the garlic peashoots. My in-laws are first-generation Chinese and even they seemed perfectly satisfied when we took them to Hop Li on their last visit to LA. Doesnt get more A-OK or 3-star than this.

We have being going to the Hop Li restaurant in Chinatown for years. The West LA location is much better because it is cleaner and roomier with more tables. The food at both locations are about the same. Our favorite dishes are the Deep Fried Flounder, Walnut Shrimp, Pork Chop with Spicy Salt and Crispy Deep Fried Chicken. The service is here is great but sometimes its difficult to understand the servers because of their lack of English

Tasty Chinese food with very large portions, we always have leftovers. I generally order the beef dishes with some chicken fried rice, but my wife loves the duck and seafood here. Parking can be difficult, but there is a valet to speed things up even it it cost a few bucks. I am a repeat customer visiting about once a month and recommend you give this place a try when you are hungry!

The service was somewhat poor, rushed, and confusing. One thing I ordered didnt arrive until too late, so I canceled it. Some of the dishes taste ok, but I wasnt sure if everything was cooked completely. It took too long to get drinks and the food was served haphazardly. One of the dishes tasted pretty mediocre, othes were ok. There must be better Chinese food around than this.

Great Chinese food. I highly recommend the Honey Walnut Shrimp, its the best Ive found around town. Unfortunately, the service isnt great. Expect your water cup to be empty until you ask for a refill. The restaurant itself looks a bit old, and it is. Ive been coming here for years and not much has changed. Great food though, so dont miss out.

Tasty Chinese food. Limited $3 valet parking and inconvenient street parking. Very fair prices and huge menu with a host of options, some of the nicer ones being the garlic eggplant and the shrimp dishes. They also serve you free hot tea and you get a nice fortune cookie at the end. Cozy place, nothing fancy, but great for casual dining.

The best Chinese food Ive had in Los Angeles. Tastes very authentic and in traditional Chinese fashion the wait for the food isnt long at all. The service is also amazing, most of the servers have worked here for years and know the industry in and out and know how to make sure you have s good dining experience.

Never use a credit card. The manager can change the amount you pay. What you pay in front of him is DIFFERENT of the amount from your account. KEEP YOU RECEIPT AND CHECK WHAT HOP LI REALLY CHARGED YOU FROM YOUR ACCOUNT. Bad financial management!!!!

Hoo Li offers great service, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food. Their beef chow fun with black bean sauce is one of my favorite dishes there. Dishes have different textures and colors so its a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.

This place has slipped badly from the old days. The vegetables were undercooked. The waitstaff was unfriendly and lazy. Never again. I have not eaten at their other location in Chinatown, and Im in no rush to try it. Pick another spot.

Love the food at this place. Not super greasy, very flavorful and the server, David is an amazing person! They have their own parking lot which is very small and shared with another restaurant, but they do have valets.

Stopped in one noon a couple of Fridays ago and had some Singapore rice noodles. One of my favo(u)rite dishes. I thought it was pretty darn good. Couldnt fault quality or quantity.

I ordered the steam crab. The butter tasted mildly rancid and the crab not fresh at all. Then I saw the bill and was charged $40 for a single steamed crab. I will never go back.

Really good Chinese food at affordable prices. Lunch menu is great because they offer a variety of good dishes. Try the squid if you like squid deep fried and salty

I saw a little dead bug in my rice. And all they had to say was, sorry, we wont charge you for your rice. I can tell a lot of people will get very sick here!

Delicious food with ridiculous portion sizes. My girlfriend and I get takeout, and my meal usually covers me for three days, and hers for five or more.
