Service was a little slow when we went but it was super busy. They are understaffed which is an issue. I am in love with their maraq (soup) and enjoy how it is served with lemon verse the usual lime. I was a little disappointed they didnt serve salar (salad) with the meal as most Somali restaurants do. They also only have shah madow (tea without milk). It would be much appreciated to add milk to the tea while cooking! I do enjoy how they give a side of ranch which is pretty rare for most Somali restaurants but awesome because lots of Somalis enjoy ranch lol! Even with these downfalls, I still would rate it 5 stars. The food is great and has been consistent every time I have went which is rare in most Somali restaurants. If you are American and reading this review I will give you a few tips for Somali restaurants. Dont expect super fast service, it may or may not happen. If you need something, catch someone and ask. It is rare they will come by and check on you like in American restaurants. But to sum up my review, I will definitely be going again.

Despite our hotel front desk clerk trying to dissuade us from going to this "gang-infested" (???) area to enjoy the Global Midtown Market, we went anyway!!!!!!!!!! AND...our lunch at Hamdi was DIVINE! I loved my goat dish, with accompanying rice which had heavenly flavors and spices! We were served great lentil soup before our entrees. My mango juice was also so tasty! Prices are so inexpensive, and the staff so nice! Our taxi driver, from Somalia, had told us that this was his favorite restaurant, so my friend and I knew we were in for a special treat. Dont miss this restaurant for delectable Somali cuisine!

Googled for the a Halal Restaurant and this turned up among the searches and someone didnt leave good reviews about the area. Ignored the snobbish review and went anyway. Found to be a very humble diner with simple and old setting. Enjoyed the food, the vibes and overall atmosphere in and around this place. Ordered rice with chicken. They had lentil soup for starters which was tasty. I hope they shut down news being played on TV and play some soothing eastern African cultural music. Saw cops on my way out dealing with few folks and it didnt appear anything they show on TV. They greeted and gave me way to pass.

Service is terrible! No one comes until you call and always get order wrong (Dont write it down) Place is dirty, mens restroom downstairs is not even fit for use in my opinion! Its sad because food is great and owners are nice people but they clearly need to spend some money on good service, cleaning and upgrades (Im Somali and am embarrassed this is a Somali restaurant)

Food is good, but the restaurant is super sketchy. Also the menu is outdated as the Goat Entree does not cost $10, is $15!
