After a excellent evening at the movies I decided to take my family to get their favorite fried pickles from the Burgerhaus in Valparaiso. Upon arrival the hostess promptly seats us and from there our visit went downhill fast. Two other parties that came in after us were promptly seated and greeted by their server. We on the other hand, had not even been acknowledged as guest by a server. We watched as other servers waited on tables around us but not acknowledging or going as far to say hello. My wife pointed out to me that nearly 10 minutes had passed without anyone coming over to speak to us. Within that time frame, the person who turns out to have been the general manager walked past and around our table three times. After the third time we got up to leave. As we were leaving the hostess asked whats matter as if she didnt know. We were seated directly across the way from the hostess stand. The Burgerhaus in Valparaiso is a small restaurant and you can see everything that is going on. I pointed out to the hostess that the parties that came in after us had drinks and menus in hand but we had nothing at our table. At that time, the hostess waves to the general manager to come over to speak with me. I pointed out to the general manager he had stopped to speak with guests seated around our table, and walked past three times without even saying hello. He then proceeds to offer me a gift card for my next visit. I asked him why would I want a gift card for another visit when I couldnt get service at this one. Both the general manager and hostess looked like deer in headlights upon the question. Not sure why no one at this restaurant wanted to serve my family. Our past experience at this location had been generally good. Always making sure to promptly pay our bill and leave a 20% or more tip for the wait staff. Needless to say, after this visit we will not be back.

This establishment just showed our typical American family what they thought of us. Two parents married educated, dressed appropriately with two children, a boy and a girl. The only thing is our family is African American. Were were seated immediately and promptly ignored. People who came in behind us were serviced promptly. This was NOT out first time here but it will be our last. I made I contact with hostess after we had been sitting for 6 minutes with no a acknowledgment. She looked away. We we got up to leave she asked of there was an issue. The manager who had walked by our table several times said something to my husband then. Northwest Indiana does not disappoint. It doesnt help that we were the only black people in the establishment. I am so very disappointed.

Burgerhaus was definitely an above average experience from more common chains (this place is not a chain) around Valpo. I went in around 6:45 on a busy Saturday evening and sat at the bar. Service was prompt and they have a decent craft beer selection both draft and bottle. *this is a 2-way bar, meaning they serve beer and wine only* <-- if you dont like that, take it up with the state legislature and their archaic liquor licensing laws. The menu had good variety from mild to wild. There are options to substitute for a turkey burger or vegetarian black bean patty. Definitely check this place out if youre in Valparaiso. Even though Burgerhaus was good, I would recommend Industrial Revolution first.

Burgerhaus has been my favorite place to eat in Valpo for a few years now. I feel that the burgers are really good, and the food is generally consistent. It has the feel of an upscale Lincoln Park pub. I like a burger with a lot of veggies on it. They had one called the Monterrey, with Let, Tom, Mayo, Avocado and Swiss, I believe. They will still make it if you ask. I believe the fries are cooked twice, as real fries are supposed to be, and they are delicious. I think they also serve them with black pepper. My kids like the grilled cheese, which comes on a multi-grain bread and is also delicious. I find myself finishing whatever parts they leave of it.

Burger Haus lives up to their name by always serving-up the best burgers anywhere with many fantastic topping combos to choose from. My favorite is the Corinth which is still available although not currently on the menu. The burgers may only be beaten by their fries which are always cooked just right and are a wonderful accompaniment every time. When Im less hungry, I often go for the Ahi Tuna appetizer as an entree with a bowl of chili on the side for a lighter and healthier alternative. And the beers! They also always have a nice selection of local and national craft brews. Cheers!

Eric (below) - were you at the same restaurant? Burgerhaus ... in Valparaiso... on the north side, does most definitely serve alcohol! They will even help you pair the alcohol with your selection. They have a friggen bar! Anyway, I had no intention on actually reviewing, but the guy below is a moron so I had to speak up. This place (and Stacks and Pestos) are my three favorite eateries in Valpo - and there are a lot of places to eat in Valpo. The Hummus is fantastic! The burgers are good (but how do you mess up a burger?) as well as their Pesto Chicken sammich.

FOOD COVERED IN GREASE. Listen, I know its a burger place but I like food thats NOT saturated in grease. The sweet potato fries were soaked in oil, regular fries soaked in oil. Had the fish and chips. The fish was saturated in cooking oil. The COLE SLAW has massive ONION overtaste. 3 of us ate with tip was $60. No alcohol and its a burger place...kickin myself. For what we paid, WE WILL NOT RETURN. Should have known something was up since it was 5 pm on a Saturday and there were 4 families in the whole builidng, THE FOOD SUCKS!!

We had a good experience for our 1st time dining here. Josh was our server and he was great. Very informative, and we tried some good craft beers. Had burgers and fries, but my burger was really, really greasy. I did enjoy the cute basket of fries that accompanied my burger. We will definitely be back, although I will order something else besides a burger.

The food is delicious! The beer selection is fantastic! The sweet potato fries are the bomb! They always have creative burger creations. Dont believe the very few negative reviews. One reviewer only leaves negative reviews and the other gave Burger King 4 stars; not exactly trustworthy. Always a pleasure to eat and have date night here!

Not impressed. We (party of two) were seated for 15 minutes before we were greeted by the waitress. Our food came out cold, on a soggy bun, and sat with our food before I finally went to get the silverware myself. The owner should also tell his staff that they are not employed by BAGGER DAVES!!! Will not be back.

I really enjoy Burgerhaus. It is a bit pricey for a burger and fries, so be prepared to spend quite a bit! If I could make one suggestion, I would say to offer their specials of the day at a more affordable price. Dont plan on getting dessert as that is incredibly expensive. The burgers are delicious!
