My review is for the buffet lunch I had here recently. As I was at one of my offices on Hudson riverfront, me and my colleagues wanted to try some Indian buffet. After a very long time I was coming for a buffet lunch. This place is not huge and but has decent amount of seating available. They have the lunch buffet from 12 to 3 in the afternoon. When we walked in this place wasnt crowded at all. Here is run down of the food which they had as part of the lunch buffet - Appetizers *Chicken Kofta( Small chicken patties roasted on grill) *Tandoori Chicken *Pakora (Veggies deep fried) Main Course *Chicken Tikka Masal *Aloo Baigan (Egg plant with potatoes dry) * Paneer Chole(Chick peas with indian chesse) * Saag(Rapini and Spinach) * Naan (Bread) * Basmati Rice Sides * Three different types of salads * Hot and sweet sauces Dessert * Kheer( Rice cooked with milk) Though personally not a very big fan of buffet but my experience here was very pleasant. The appetizers specially chicken kofta were delicious. I felt some of the main course dishes like aloo baigan and paneer chole were very bland. But overall it worth the buck since its just $10 bucks here for a lunch buffet. They also kept on refilling the buffet table on a regular basis. The servers were attentive.

We have a new winner for the best Indian food in Hoboken. India on the Hudson was our go to Indian restaurant, but with the recent closing, we tried this downtown relative and cant believe we hadnt gone sooner. The food was excellent, from the crunchy and spicy Papri Chaat to the burning chicken Madras and the succulent chicken Malabar, paired with a roasted garlic naan and washed down with some Taj Mahal beer. The beer was ok, the selection was small, but what is expected at an Indian restaurant and the wine list was extensive. We didnt try the cocktails but they seemed popular with our fellow patrons, especially the bachelorette party across the room. The main courses were incredible, very moist tender chicken actually served with rice and dal at no extra charge, and with ample sauce for dipping. The Madras was excellent, very spicy but not painfully so. The Malabar is my new favorite, moderately spicy but with a delicious coconut background. The staff was also very attentive and yet quiet and mostly out of the way.

DELIVERY ORDERS BEWARE! I was a regular customer of Karma Kafe... I have ordered delivery dozens of times and have dined in at the restaurant with friends as well. I enjoy the food and consider it to be the best Indian in Hoboken. However, tonight my opinions have changed. I placed a delivery order on Seamless around 9pm. The food showed up an our later (typical for Karma but usually worth it). In addition to the $2.00 delivery fee I was charged, I tipped the driver 20% of the bill in cash. At 10:45pm, I received a call from the restaurant manager accusing me of not tipping his driver. He proceeded to yell at me and harass me for allegedly not doing so! I insisted that I had given the driver a cash tip and he refused to believe me... the CUSTOMER! I am absolutely appalled... I have never experienced something like this before.

Being an Indian myself.. I would never put down an Indian restaurant. But this one surpassed all in WORST Service, WORST FOOD and WORST LOCATION. Got to the restaurant at 11pm and the server sat us down and says we are closing at 11:30pm. We said no problem, we can order all together. Got the appetizers after the entree, but did not care. Got the bill before the soda was served. Then was asked to sign the bill and pay within 5 minutes of food service. After I signed the server announces to rest of the people in the restaurant that we are closed and then turns around and asks us if we would like our food packed??? WTH.. Its 11:25 at this point. The server has the audacity to tell us that he gave is enough time to eat?!!!!!!! Obviously we left the restaurant without the food, but paid before we finished.... totally sucks

Pathetic food... On 8th Sep09 I ordered food first time from this place - Kofta Makhani which comes with rice and daal and Garlic Naan. All of them doesnt seem fresh... daal was literally spoiled.. still i tasted a bit and threw up..... kofta was also not fresh and not good in taste... some of rice was pink color.... Naan was worst... not cooked.. very soft.. seemed as dough itself... and since it was garlic naan they sprayed some really big garlic pieces over it... as it was not cooked imagine how bad it wud have tasted... i threw all that food.. i wish if i can get my money back and will never order food from this place....

Absolutey fantastic. BIG PORTIONS which is great for the price. I normally dont leave much for tips but i left a great hefty tip for our waiter who was so generous!! I cant wait to come back here again. The naan is DELICIOUS and so is the lamb curry. Cilantro is a very big ingredient they use in their foods a lot, also food is SPICY (like REALLY SPICY). I happen to enjoy both very much. The coconut lassi is DELICIOUS! this place exceeded all of my expectations. only complaint was it was a bit loud inside but it was a busy saturday night. loads of people. :P why are you reading this review GO EAT HERE ALREADY

Interesting to see how a lot of Indian customers giving this restaurant low ratings, while other non-Indian people seem to be loving this place. I bring this up because I have the same feeling towards a lot of so-called "Japanese" restaurants in and around NYC. (Im Japanese, born and raised.) So I totally get how they feel about something they KNOW to be not "authentic" Indian cuisine. I know they feel very strongly about it. That said, I think the food here is quite decent. Of course, Im basing that on my personal taste and past experience going to other "Indian" establishments.

The food was amazing!!! Fresh, tasty, not too spicy, just elegant and beautiful. I had the chicken Kashmir. I cannot tell you how great this dish is!!! Just the right amount of spice, rich, creamy, and a slight crush with the added nuts. We also had this coconut creme dish I dont recall the name off. It was also a great pic!! I recommend the saucy dishes if you are a dip extraordinaire like myself. Especially with the garlic Naan; warm with just the right amount of toast and garlic (not overpowering at all).

I love my Indian Food in big bottomless troughs and this restaurant has this in spades (for lunchtime). The beginning of the buffet starts with excellent fresh fruit and bread (naan). Then for the available dishes, they have fantastic Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala. There are a lot of other excellent dishes as well. If you want good Indian food, this is the place. Lunch is even better than their dinner. Service is excellent too. Very quick. All for about $10.

Visited twice now and both experiences were awesome! The food is among the best Indian Ive had in the US, as an Englishman where Indian food is like our national dish thats serious praise! The service and outlook of the wait staff was equally impressive. I cant recommend anything particular because it was all superb: chicken Malabar, chicken Madras and chicken Tikka Massala all maintained their individual taste. The Pashwari Naan is to die for.....

had absolutely delicious food, both for dinner and lunch buffet. a lot probably had to do with a good variety of dishes and fresh tasting spices. the meals were definitely worth the money paid. i liked the decor and ambiance, and, although i wouldnt rate them as excellent, they are one of the best of the inexpensive places ive been to. i wish we had a place like that in our area :-)
