If youre looking for legit bbq, good portions at fair prices, Down South BBQ is perfect. If you want a fancy joint, well...whatr you eating smoked meat for in the first place, sissy? This is cave man food. We had three of the meats: baby back ribs, smoked turkey and brisket. All were first rate. Odd - to us at least - the brisket is pulled. That was the only thing Id change. Sliced? Of course. Chopped? Ok...if you must. But pulled should be reserved for pork and chicken, IMHO. Beyond that, the sides and sauces are very good. The latter tend toward the sweet side, but thats pretty common.

Walked in to order some take out and sat down to let my toddler eat while waiting on the food... The place is small and casual atmosphere. The server, who I believe may have been the owner was extremely friendly. The food tasted great to me and my boyfriend who is the BBQ expert said he was impressed as well. They have a great selection of house sauces and the server asked me which ones I wanted to try and put them in to go containers for me with my order as well.

Found this place by driving by after a beach day! Great BBQ.. ribs were great. Moist and wet.. Pork and chicken had great flavor but a bit dry though. Great sides, loved the beans, crispy fries and corn on the cob! Small comfy place but when I looked up at fan & cieling I got freaked out.. needs a whole lot of cleaning, dusting and vacuuming. Other than that Great!

I was in the area for a conference and was glad we found this local delight. The BBQ chicken was the best I had experienced in recent memory and the collard greens were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Great sauces and the owner Wally was humorous and hard working. Everyone in our group was very impressed with the food and dining experience.

Ive never really loved BBQ but this place has changed my heart!! The food and sauces are soooooo good!! I often CRAVE their cheesy potatoes - its one of the most amazing things Ive ever eaten! I will order it to take to potlucks because it tastes so homemade and gourmet! The chicken is never dry - pure BBQ perfection here.

Really? Didnt expect the quality of food would be so outstanding. We were so pleasantly surprised. The choices of sauces were a big plus. Georgia, carolina, cuban, memphis, kansas city and more. I had brisket and baby backs. The smoke flavor was perfect. Check this place out. Great collards and fries and fried zucchini too

The food is fantastic. The absolute best baby back ribs Ive ever had. But what really makes the experience is having a conversation with Wally. This guy works his tail off and it shows in the quality of his food and the environment he presents. Seriously stop reading and go! You wont regret it.

Really good bbq. The sloppy joe was bangin, also the chicken was heavenly. Dont expect a fancy sawgrass place but the food is good svc good. Nice selection of sauces. Looks like bs from the road but once inside youll smell it. Fk woodys check this good local spot out

My office recommended I try this place for lunch. Went there yesterday and had a BBQ salad. Went home with a bad case of food poisoning. Still trying to get over it this morning. Very disappointed given the restaurants prior reviews. Maybe It was just my luck.

Best BBQ in JAX. I hit 5 different BBQ joints. Their meat and sides are phenomenal. Ribs meet my 3 Criteria...fall off bone, crispy bone ends to gnaw on, great rub. .Great sauces!...Memphis, Georgia, Cuban, Kansas City, South Carolina, and Hades.

The best BBQ around the PVB area. Have been going for 3 years and never had a bad meal. We go about once a week. Small restaurant with great fresh BBQ & salads. Large portions. Wallys standards are very high! A must try! Childrens menu also...

Brought my mum and pop here for some good ole fashioned Southern barbecue--It was absolutely phenomenal. The Memphis sauce was delicious paired with the pulled pork, which was some of the most tender Ive had. We will be back!

Great BBQ, fair prices, great service. I try to eat healthy so I go with the pulled turkey. Its delicious, tons of flavor and very tender. The chicken is great as well. If you like BBQ, definitely try this place out!

Overall food was great. Smoky ribs, great beans and cheesy potatoes. Corn fritter appetizer was to die for. Only disappointment was the brisket, which was pulled, not sliced, and a bit dry.

Great little place we always visit while in Ponte Vedra. Philly Texas Style is great. As are the onion rings. At least 4 sauces to pick from too. You cant go wrong @ Down South.
