First, I wanted this place to be Soooooo good!!! I wanted this BBQ to knock my flip flops off. As a BBQ lover from the West Coast, Texas, Mid-West and now residing in GA and tasted Tennessee BBQ, this place has all the qualities to be a big hit with the astethics of a great BBQ joint. I was BIG TIME disappointed in this place. The ribs were, well lacking in the taste and size department. I mean just plane ol BLAND!!! I mean CMON!!! It really pissed me off that the ribs had no flavor at all. The sauces were just plain OK. This was like tasting Williamson Brothers in Marietta GA just plain ole non descript BBQ. My wife got the brisket and I looked at the thin little slices, said OK we both were shocked!!! NO TASTE!!! Just plain as can be, you needed to sauce to give any flavor. Ive been to some hole in a walls in California, Texas and Chattanooga that would put this place to shame!!!! I would put Serious Money on this bet!!! Hands down I wanted this place to kick ass. The only thing that was good was the beans and the local micro brew beer the lady recommended me. The portions were a little small as well, but I was looking for a hit on the taste. I would try this place again for another shot and hopefully it will be better. But, this BBQ is just plain sorry!!! Ive had better BBQ and no way would this place stand a chance against some good competition. Id say try it and see for yourself!!

Cant say enough about this place, but to sum it all up - love, Love, LOVE it!! Found it on the internet, didnt even know it had been famously profiled on TV or in magazines - I just liked the sound of BBQ. The ribs were plentiful, tender, and full of smokey flavor - no sauce was really even needed. The bbq beans just simply made me HAPPY, they were so good! The only issue was the service - the young lady behind the register was so continuously involved in others conversations that it took some firm prompting to get and KEEP her attention to take our order. Once we had it, it came with a side of eye-rolling. Additionally, she had trouble getting our receipts to us, as if such a request was a foreign concept. Another young lady mixed our orders up, but insisted it was no big deal. They were to-go orders; had we not checked them and left, we wouldve been sorely disappointed. No big deal? Im actually glad we took our orders to-go - the food is certainly the best we had in the Golden Coast Isles, but their service leaves EVERYTHING to be desired.

Honestly, Ive had better in California, where I traveled from for a southern foodie tour. The long line to the door moved quickly enough. Places my order, and found a bench outside to wait for my name to be called. Once your food is ready they ask you to raise your hand once they call your name . I did and someone brought my food to me. My friend and I left disappointed with the same complaints. Ribs were just ok. A little fatty and not quite the quality lean cuts Im used to. Lacked flavor and tenderness as well. The brisket was veey dry and lacked flavor. The fried okra was completely flavorless and needed salt to consume. The stew was ok. The best thing on my plate was the andoulle sausage link, which was outstanding and flavorful. I assume that once it hit Food Network the focus was forced on quantity, and quality suffered. I ended up getting my bbq satisfaction in Jacksonville at MOJO Kitchen. Hopefully it was just a bad day for them in Georgia.

This place I had high expectations for being a country type joint with great reviews. Ive had much better que at franchise places and done considerably better with a gas smoker at home. The brisket should not have been on the menu- bland, tough, tasteless-wasted cut of beef. Pulled pork was best of the three meat combo (ribs, brisket, pulled). Ribs lacked seasoning, and slightly too tough for baby backs. If this is what all the people were standing in line for theres money to be made with a good que restaurant in St. Simons. Best part of the meal was the potato salad, even the collards were tasteless, imagine that, a deep south bar b que that cant make decent collard greens.

So after traveling the USA I can honestly say that this place has the best "pulled pork" I have ever had... Most places that I got pulled pork had one of the following problems: too much bbq sauce, or too chewy, basically something was off; or in flavor, or in texture, etc. This smoke house has it down to a science... I almost gave up on trying some decent pulled pork till... BTW if you you are already here, and you wanna give your palate a treat; get a rib and eat just the outside, the taste is extremely addictive... Especially because you can feel a little bit of the apple juice that they put on with the smokiness. Note: its only 20 minutes off the I-95.

The food and customer service were great! My mom, our friends, and I decided to go in mid June and we split two meats. We decided on andouille sausage and brisket. As a side we got collard greens, Brunswick stew, and white toast. The andouille sausage was honest to God one of the best I have ever had, the Brunswick stew tasted of BBQ sauce and meat, and the brisket just fell apart. Our friends decided to get burnt ends, turkey, and brisket. The burnt ends and turkey would just melt in your mouth they were so tender. The only problem was the large number of flies around, but what can you do? Theyre attracted to the scent of BBQ as far as Ive seen.

The location is a bit tricky as its trapped behind a traffic circle. The building itself is done right with a rustic modern flare. The seating is limited inside, but there is room outside as well. Now the food; the brisket was dry and overcooked... slabs of dry beef that were tough and parched for juices. The turkey was nothing special. The platters come with one piece of grilled bread and one slice of regular bread. The quantities are rather small. Stick to the pork and the ribs. I dont see what all the fuss is about really. I suppose in the nomansland of southeast GA this place is a standout.

To start off, this place was packed when we visited in March. The food was decent. The brisket and ribs came out warm instead of hot. The brisket had a nice smokey flavor but the texture was tough and it was relatively cold. The ribs were great, very tender and fell off the bone but also barely warm. I imagined both meats would have tasted better hot. We were anxious to try the macn cheese but it was "86d" right before we ordered so we settled on fried okra, fries, hush puppies and meat stew. Not blown away by the sides. I doubt we would eat here again, but it was worth a try!
