Against my better judgment, I took my family for lunch. The last time we came, there was shredded metal scrubber cooked into our food. I saw from other comments that this has happened to other people as well. This time, there was only one other couple eating besides us and we waited over 15 minutes for service. When we tried to place our order, a young, snappy, very rude waitress came out and spoke over our waitress and declared that lunch was over. It was before 3 when we arrived and it was now 3:10. When I tried to explain (in English since I am not fluent in Spanish) both women rolled their eyes and walked away in a huff complaining loudly in Spanish and left us there at our table. The other couple looked at them and back at us with their mouth open like someone had just been insulted. I was thinking about leaving and should have but was so hungry that we stayed. We placed our orders (didnt get lunch of course) and it took forever to come out. When our food did arrive, the portions were small, it had gotten cold, and was sitting in puddles of grease. We ate what we could and left the rest. This is our last visit. The service is terribly rude, the food is poor quality, the portions are small. This is sad because Ive been coming for years. The service was always friendly, the food was hot and the prices reasonable. It seems that a new owner or manager took over when the tiny cafe was remodeled because it was never the same again. Rest in peace El Pilon. You were great once but not anymore.

My wife and I were in the Fort Myers area for a Marlins Spring Training game. As puertorricans, we always look for puertorrican cuisine restaurants in every place that we visit. This is why that we decided to eat at El Pilon Restaurant because they promote itself as a puertorrican restaurant. The restaurant is decorated with Puerto Rico images and it has a nice ambience. However, Puerto Ricos flag was incorrectly painted with more than 3 red and 2 white stripes. We were nicely greeted and served by the ladies of the restaurant. The food tasted good but not with the typical puertorrican flavor. My wife quickly noticed this with her mofongo and told me that it has more a dominican flavor, who seems to use other spices than what it is used in Puerto Rico. Our premise about the food was confirmed when I asked the cashier which part of Puerto Rico she and the owner were from. To our surprise, the cashier emphatically and proudly told us that no one there was from Puerto Rico. I felt that I was mislead with their marketing strategy that their food is typical puertorrican. As a proud BORICUA, I didnt like this and the reason I gave them 3 stars.

Every time I have lunch here I am delighted by the selection and the "sabor de Puerto Rico." granted that the decor is rather stark, but its always welcoming and spotless. The waitresses are very quick and service is good. Kitchen is clean, bathroom tidy but the floors look like they could use a good polish. Reasonable price for lunch special Mon thru Fri 11:30-3pm. They have flan, mofongo, kola champagne and pasteles (Puerto Rican tamales) and alcapurias. Very flavorful. You have to their the island dishes.

Terrible food, terrible service. We get some kind of sandwich with pork meat which was not edible so we ask the waiter if she can change it.What a surprise she said no and you have to pay for it (just like this). It was bad smelling and definitely not fresh. Anyway we didnt pay for the meal which we didnt eat and we left there money just for the drink. I guess the personal are cuban people and they have no idea what they doing.

DON’T GO THERE EVER !!!!! This is dangerous for your health and personal are definitely crazy. You will wait 40min at least for your order. The meat is old and bad smelling. They do review on Internet them self’s so dont believe if you see good reputation. The "chef" looks drunk and very dirty. Just stay fares you can from this place. Believe me. J.F.

We drive all the way from Naples to eat here. DELICIOUS Puerto Rican food for a great price. Small cafeteria like place located next to Burlington Coat Factory down the street from Edison mall. Menus are in English as well as Spanish and our waitress was fluent in both.

The tamales and yucca have been consistantly tasty in my opinion. However, the one and only time I had rice, beans, and steak with onions, it tasted like absolutely nothing. I will definitely go back but more than likely only for the tamales and yucca.

The service was horrible. Anything I wanted on the menu they did not have. I asked if they had everything on the menu and she said yes but did not have what I wanted. Then my son found metal pieces in his food

Been coming for years. Good food for the price, and the jibaritos de pernil (pork, plantain sandwich) is amazing.

This is a good place to eat Latin Food. The environment is totally Latin. You feel like in South America.
