What a gem. This place is well worth the drive from Rockville! We had a large group tonight with 4 small children. The wait staff was very quick and attentive. The kids had their cups of water and coloring supplies before we all even got seated and crispy wontons with spicy duck sauce came out for nibbling. We started with some appetizers - gyoza, calimari and shrimp. The dumplings were so delicate with a lightly crisped bottom. The calimari was fried in a light crunchy batter. The shrimp was also very light and crisp. What a change from your average fried appetizers you find in other Chinese restaurants. Several people in our party got soups. Both the egg drop and hot and sour were wonderful. All of the food was so flavorful. The combination lomein had a deep soy flavor as did the triple delight. The Hong Kong duck has very crispy skin and moist meat. Crispy beef was sweet and crispy. None of the dishes failed to impress - coconut shrimp, General tos chicken, sweet and sour chicken, all more impressive than any other local places. Wait staff came to check on us several times, even changing out plates throughout the meal. They also entertained the kids and gave them training chopsticks. Everyone was really nice. I highly recommend this place. I cant wait to go back!

This was a bad Friday night for Modern Asia. No host, no bartender, no manager in site, staff was miserable, you could see they were stressed and unhappy. Restaurant was half full, greeted kindly with water and wash cloth in 1st 2 minutes but after 15 minutes we had to ask for a waiter, she came after 4 minutes without a hello or smile. Some appetizers came out cold. Shumai was like a large pork meatball and not very good. We asked for cold food to be heated or redone waitresses suggested she just take them off the check and we go without because the kitchen was backed up. Our dinner was tasteless and the tofu was so over cooked it chewed like a sea sponge. The tea we ordered with appetizers never came. Never an apology or thank you or even very much eye contact. The woman that greeted us with water and wash cloths kindly said goodnight. 2 hours from start to finish and we left our meals on the table. We tipped and paid but most likely will never return.

We have been to Modern Asia many times now and the food and service have always been way above average. The staff are so very attentive and the hot towels to wash your hands are just the start. I can honestly say that every single person that has gone by my recommendation have had the same comments as I. GREAT!!! The location is a little hidden but it is easy to get to. In the same shopping center as Toys R Us and Wonder Book and Video and Next to Khenes. I really want to try something new but I love the Shrimp Lo Mein, I just cant seem to change. Its fairly priced and the quality and quantity and great. If you try it once you will go back. Tell my new friend Roy (one of the owners) that I sent you.

The food and service is top notch! Best Asian fusion cuisine in Frederick without question - nothing else comes close. I enjoy spicy food, fresh ingredients, and flavorful dishes - this is one of the few that delivers on this. Ive eaten at a lot of different Asian restaurants around the country, so it puzzles me when I see people giving 4 and 5 stars to other places in Frederick that are absolutely dreadful. Modern Asia is the only place deserving a 5 star rating. I recommend the Shaking Beef, Thai Basil, Pho, and anything Hunan or Kung Po related. All great choices that Ive enjoyed.

A pleasant surprise in Frederick. I dont typically prefer fusion Asian restaurants for their mediocre dishes and lack luster flavors but the Chinese dishes I had were great. My sisters Thai dish wasnt authentic by any means, but to be expected for "fusion" fare. The restaurant offered great service, a nice comfortable dining experience, reasonable prices, and a full bar. Chinese dishes are great. Thai and Vietnamese dishes are typical fusion flavors, a bit far from the authentic recipes of each type of cuisine. All in all, a nice and tasty casual dining spot.

I very much like the food here. It has easily become one of my favorite places to eat. But the reason that I take a star is because they are confused about what culture there restaurant represents it says on the door Chinese, Veitnemis and Thia but when you walk in there a pictures of Pikachu (Japanese) and lucky cats (Japanese). Also on the way to the bathroom there is a big picture of London and the music they played was Christian. That is why I give this place 4 out of 5 stars.

This is our go to Asian restaurant. It is a diamond in the rough, the unknown treasure. The food has always been excellent. Fresh ingredients. Fresh vegetables, great service, never a wait. Prices are great especially for the taste and portion sizes. They have a childrens menu which makes it very economical for families. Food is always served fresh and hot. We have never had a bad dish here and we go quite frequently. Highly suggest you try this place.

On a recommendation we tried Modern Asia. The food was the best Chinese we have ever had coast to coast. The General Tso chicken is tender white meat chicken. The chicken and broccoli has beautiful broccoli tops with tender white meat chicken. They have lunch specials even on the weekend. Great value but more importantly the quality and taste is the best. The staff is professional and friendly. They have a great beer list too. Highly recommend

Ive never had Chinese take out from a restaurant in Frederick so I did a quick Yelp search. This restaurant had the highest (and the most!) reviews so I ordered from them. I ordered basic chinese dishes (general tsao, lo mein, honey walnut chicken and combination fried rice, along with won ton soup and egg rolls) everything was amazing. The food came quick and the service was fantastic. Will surely order from them again.

I just love this place! Tonight was my first time, and at dinner I was already planning when I would come back. There is really nothing bad I can say. From the hot towel for wiping your hands at the beginning to the great flavor to the value to the cleanliness... this restaurant is a must eat, and I will be back for sure.

Great relatively new place opening up, and IMO the best Chinese restaurant in Frederick right now. My wife and kids are in love with this place. Food is always fresh, and every dish is unique and doesnt all taste like hoisin sauce. Portions and prices are very reasonable. Decor is clean and tasteful.

Had a great meal! I think it was reasonably priced, place looked nice, food was good and everything. Chicken Teriyaki was amazing. We took a while eating, though, and I think they kind of forgot about us, but thats partially our fault. Good service, good food, would definitely go back.

An asian restaurant (chinese thai etc..) that specialize in customer service and high quality food. This place deserves the rating of 4.9. If you have not dined here, you are truly missing out they put almost every other restaurant i have been to to shame.
