The sushi was not good but I cant speak for anything else, this is coming from someone who eats Safeway sushi and this was less than comparable. My girlfriend and I used to order take-out sushi here when we were in college, yesterday we went in and it was a different experience. They seem to be more of a noodle bowl/entree place as they only have about 8 sushi roll types and only come in 4s which was fine, my only issue was that nothing was fresh. The fish was metallicy/fishy, the avocado was rotting in different areas, the shrimp tempura was tough, the chopsticks gave my gf a splinter, and mine had soy sauce on the paper. The katsu however (appetizer) was the best part even though the breading on it was soggy, it just seemed like it was frozen.. totally bland. Our waitress was ok. There were mostly only elderly, which is fine.. The seating is old-school booths. Everything was just ok I guess, if that. Im sorry you guys, idk who youre managed by anymore but its just not good. We usually eat everything and if we dont we take it home or give the left-overs to a homeless person if we saw one on the way but we wouldnt bother subjecting another human to this.

First time visitor. I just moved in and kokoro was highly recommend. I came in and sat down at the bar by the door. I was immediately greeted with a menu by Julia (?). She was a sweetheart! She explained some of the favorites. I ordered a kokoro bowl and salmon rolls. I have never got an order of food so quick! While looking around I noticed how the staff works all togetherto make sure no guest goes unattended. As a former server this teamwork is rare. The manager, Patrick was very attentive and helpful. He stopped by to talk to me and when he found it was my first time he explained the history and the quality of the meats they use. All veggies are hand cut daily and chicken is all natural. All staff, young and older got along, it appeared the kitchen crew and front staff actually liked each other (again, rare from my restaurantexperience) what a great experience! I will be back many times!

Sad but true - Kokoro USED to be one of my favorite places to eat, but alas, their QUICK service made me SICK - yes, they did not cook their chicken thoroughly and within 5 hours after eating it, I was vomiting non-stop like for the next 4 days. I vomited so hard there were brusies on my chest for the whole next week, and I STILL dont feel like Im back to normal. My doctor confirmed I had salmonella poisoning. Needless to say, you shouldnt have to worry about this kind of thing these days, but if you go there, you do! I have the health department inspecting their sorry a$$es, and I will never eat there again...And please re-consider eating there again yourself, and warn others. Salmonilla isnt funny - it is a deadly disease, I was lucky to have survived. (It is known to cause 31% of food deaths in the U.S. annually). Kokoro is Japanese for SALMONELLA!

THIS PLACE IS TERRRRRIBLE!!! THE HEALTH DEPT SHOULD VISIT AND SHUT IT DOWN. EATING HERE IS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING AND RUINED MY NIGHT. DO NOT EATING HERE.....DO NOT EAT HERE!!! SUCKS!!!! The Soba noodles were straight up spaghetti noodles....I know Soba noodles and that wasnt it. If you closed your eyes while eating, tasted like American spaghetti. Food was delivered in less than 5 minutes and was cold! The Splash noodle bowl was disgusting and flavor less. The only reason I rated it 1star was because that was the lowest rating. Heath dept should definitely take a gander and shut this place down. As a Chef...this is super disappointing that people are satisfied with this food. Terrible terrible! McDonalds chicken nuggets is more satisfying. Ratings are misleading.....hopefully my review saves you time, money, and happy feelings.

I was in the area on business and decided to stop in and try it. WOW! It was absolutely amazing. The cozy dinning area was clean and comfortable with old school diner type seating. I had the California roll, a spicy tuna roll, and "splash soup" all were fantastic. The soup was a HUGE bowl of noodles, delicious broth, mushrooms, egg, and sea weed. The rolls were small portions but well worth it. The rice was tender and moist and the fish tasted fresh. The staff was very social and make you feel right at home. Never had to ask for cutlery or a refill it was always provided before I needed to ask. I am thoroughly impressed with the place. The prices were low( cal roll was 3.75, spicy tuna was 3.75 and Splash was 6.25), the people friendly and food excellent!

Good food, poor atmosphere. The down low: -Great traditional Japanese food -Poor quality sushi -Drive through is the best way to eat here -Inside is poorly laid out, dirty -Wait staff are inattentive and not friendly I love traditional Japanese food and this place makes really good food -minus the sushi. Sushi barely stayed together and didnt taste fresh. The inside has a decent amount of space but a "bar" zig-zags through the middle making privacy non-existent. The restaurant is not equipped to seat large groups either. The tables, floor, and table toppings probably dont get cleaned very often. Basically just order anything but sushi from the drive through and youll like this place.

I was greeted on a First Friday by two 10 year old kids. I just wanted a quick simple healthy meal before heading out to Santa Fe Street for the Art Walk. I placed my order and started reading my paper. After about 15 minutes the waitress came by and apologized for my order taking so long. Ten minutes later she came by and asked me what I ordered. There was no apology for forgetting to place my order. No attempt to get me something to eat quickly. I dont know if they were distracted by the little kids helping out for the night. All I know is that I had to find another place to eat and will probably miss the Art Walk the month. And I wont be going back to KoKoro.

I really wanted to like this place. My boyfriend and i both have food poisoning something needs to be changed... First waitress was very nice she recommended the happy hour menu which seemed reasonable.. we ordered 5 rolls for 18$, each roll had 4 pieces of sushi all rice, the meat in the ramin was grey and green. We looked for the fish but didnt find any but one piece.. i wasnt aware that they were cooked only. Gosh we were patient considering it was friday, the second waitress asked if we wanted anything else before we got to answer she walked away with our plate that still had food. We left hungry after a 50$? On top of everything food poisoning!

The service is usually pretty good but the food use to be good, but recently has really gone down hill. Ive been coming here for years and unfortunately the food has become worse. Apparently, having foreign objects in your food is okay with the manager. I found pieces of paper from a straw in my beef bowl. I called the manager, told her what happened and then put me on hold forever. I had to reexplain my situation she was laughing. Im disgusted with the response and the food. Makes you think how well their hygiene and management handles such situations.
