Had dinner here recently with some friends (and their kids) who live in the area. Its good Japanese/Asian food, but nothing overly special or fantastic. We had an assortment of dishes such as Korean Kimchi Fried Rice, Crunchy Spicy Tuna Rolls, California Rolls, Pork and Vegetable Gyoza and Yakisoba. Everything was pretty good but nothing really stood out and the kids didnt like the noodles (Yakisoba). We found that really funny since our kids dont like them either...definitely has something to do with the sauce, not specific to this place. The service was pretty good and they were attentive after a slow start. We had a side/back room mostly to ourselves, which was good with the kids. Also had a drink in the bar beforehand (while waiting for the other family to arrive), and the waitresses were very friendly and talkative. Positives: Some selections are pretty good (Kimchi Fried Rice and Crunchy Spicy Tuna Rolls), the rest were just ok. Pretty good service. Negatives: Nothing was outstanding.

Im very happy to find an Asian place open later at night in downtown Sunnyvale with decent food! Now we dont have to go all the way to El Camino. We arrived at the restaurant around 8:50pm, and they just started happy hour at 8:30pm! I got the Chicken Nabe soup. My husband got a crunchy salmon skin roll or something like that from the happy hour menu. They were both pretty good! I just wish they have a tempura noodle soup with egg version of the Chicken Nabe. The only udon noodle soup they have is with Tempura. Service seemed pretty average. Several people yelled "hi" across the restaurant when we came in, but no one came to seat us for 1 min or so, making us a bit confused if were supposed to seat ourselves or not. Then we were finally seated at a very nice large booth. Like most Asian places, you do need to flag down the servers if you need something; they wont come check at your table every 10 min. But they were pretty easy to waive over so I didnt have a problem with that.

Very enjoyable Japanese restaurant. I visited on a Friday night and the place was vibrant and fun. I had a great meal: the uni dish with poached eggs was heavenly, and the caterpillar roll (eel, avocado etc) was excellent. Only slight complaint curiously was the edamame, which was little watery and should to my taste be better drained. All this with a point of Kirin makes a very good meal. Service was very friendly too.

Uni was yummy. Service was great. Menu is massive, which generally puts me off. But it has some nice and surprising selections. Each time Ive eaten there the food was really fresh and well prepared. Inside: nice atmosphere inside. Outside: next to corporate housing and mini malls for about 50 miles in every direction. Suggestion: Post an online menu for the locals who want to pick up food on they way home.

I like the atmosphere and decoration of this place. Moreover, somehow this place is the only izakaya places which have much shorter waits. Maybe its because the store is quite big. They have bar, several 4 people table, and 2 bigger table for parties available. Food wise is not bad and a lot to choose from the menu. We like their sashimi salad, pork belly, and duck. Service is also pretty nice and friendly.

Two lunch specials were offered during our visit: (1) curry don with a sashimi salad, or (2) tonkatsu don and sushi rolls. One friend had the tonkatsu don and enjoyed it but not the california rolls, and another had the white tuna sashimi which arrived as huge slices with an odd texture. I ordered the butabara don and highly enjoyed it with its soft-boiled egg. Portions are large, service is okay.

Very authentic! While you have the normal menu of bento boxes and sushi, they also serve kushiyaki and a variety of other dishes you wont see at less authentic places. My wife liked this place because she could order in Japanese as well. However, if youre looking for a variety of hand rolls (like those places with caterpillar, rainbow, dragon, 49ers, etc) this is probably not the place for you.

Another Izakaya with traditional Japanese fare. We like their late night happy hour (Mon ~ Wed 20:30 till closing) and sake sampler. Happy Hour menu to include $5 appetizers such as Kara-age chicken, spicy pork belly, California Rolls, Poke, Chilled Veggies and $5 cocktails along with $3 pint of Kirin ($11 pitcher) to wash down summer heat.

Great Japanese restaurant off the main street, which until recently made it a good walk-in place even on a busy evening. Their excellent dishes are now attracting a much larger crowd. Portions are, in general, large, specially salads. Flavor combinations are excellent in most dishes. Good food variety, beyond the typical rolls.

Great place for a little of all that Japan has to offer. You want it raw they have it, you want it cooked they have it. And the price is ver reasonable. As for parking it can be a bit of a pain but parking in the Macy garage is just a short walk and it is never full, so walk a little and enjoy

Previously had the uni stone pot rice and came back for more. Got the tempura udon set with the uni rice this time, as I was hungry ($25, other options available). Tempura was crispy and fresh, and the uni great as usual. The whole set is really quite filling, though, so come with an appetite ^^

Excellent Katsu Don for take out. Large serve with salad and soup. Tasted great and will definitely go back. The only slight thing holding Rokko back from perfection was the chicken could have been a little more tender. Despite that a great meal representing really good value.

Great service, food was delicious!! Got a miso vegetable soup, a spicy tuna roll and a entry. Prices were very reasonable. Large creative menu. The only thing I didnt like was the cleanliness of our table and floors. Planning to go back.

Great food. Fresh and well made. However, the service can be better: last time the waitress forgot our order and we waited a long time, plus she "recommended" a very expensive drink for us. Otherwise, it can be 5 stars.

Tons of really good options. Everything was delicious, and the prices are reasonable. Order a few things to start, then get more later -- sort of like tapas (for those unfamiliar with Izakaya style meals).

Good food. Simple and not necessarily the best japanese food around but the price is good and the staff is attentive. Parking can be a pain when the area is crowded.

Stone rice pot is not a great value, very small. Other dishes were pretty good, chicken karaage came in a big portion and grilled salmon rice balls are not bad

Seems to be pretty busy at lunch. Food is good with a nice variety and some of the things(natto!) that you do not often see in restaurants in America.

Our favorite Japanese steakhouse outside of Japan. Very well decorated and the menu is awesome. Helpful staff.
