I officially have 19 check-ins here. The first time we went, I posted about the window and the smell where we were sitting and it has since come to my attention, it was something outside the window. We are HUGE fans of this place and chef Sam, whom we have gotten o know very well, is an amazing and talented chef. He loves his customers, has tons of regulars, including us, and is always so happy to serve us. The chicken UDON is OMG!!! As is the OMG roll... We always eat sushi, sashimi, and a roll or two for dinner, along with a great bottle of Karatambe Sake and a Kloud beer. Before we leave, we order the chicken udon to take home and have for breakfast the next day. We love Sapporo and are regulars every Thursday or Friday night and have been known to frequent it on Wednesday and come back again the next day. You feel like family here and everyone who eats here is awesome. We are fairly new to Cali (5months) and have made some fun new friends with the patrons sitting next to us as the sushi bar. I used to come here often when I was in college. And it was ALWAYS great. I was visiting the area again today and it was nice to see a familiar face in a familiar place. Sam is an awesome sushi chef and very personable. He and his wife have been here 20 years. Without fail, I ask for suggestions and he never steers me wrong. The food is always excellent. Today, I ordered the Crazy Sam Roll and the Proposal Roll. Both were incredible. Then Sam let me taste some Catfish tempura and I had to order a plate! It was that good! I highly recommend this place. Even if youre not a sushi lover. Sam will have a suggestion for you that I know you are sure to enjoy!

Wow!!!!! I have never ate at such a great place in a long time. This family restaurant is big on quality, service and making sure you have the BEST experience. Now the food......UNBELIEVABLY FRESH!! I received my salad and soup and to my surprise the salad was cold,crisp and Fresh!!! My soup hot and delicious! I ordered tempura shrimp appetizer and OMG!!! THE BEST I EVER HAD.After all that the main course had to be bad right? WRONG my main course chicken katsu which I have never had was FANTASTIC. I have found a new place to eat in Hayward and will be back VERY SOON!!!

This place is a Hayward gem. Fantastic sushi made by and served by a fantastic couple. More often than not when we go its not super busy so service is usually prompt, however, I could see it being a little slower if the place was crowded. Recently, theyve been getting help though so perhaps thats overstated. Their plain & specialty sushi is to die for (try the "Mexican Burrito" ... my fav) and they offer a variety of other solid Japanese dishes.

Ok so maybe the day I took my mom, they were too busy, but it took quite a while to get served and when we did I was a bit disappointed. The roles I ordered were thrown together, the avocado was way too ripe (hard and bitter). Overall the place looked ok but by no means felt top notch through the food. I may eventually try again but if do, I really hope the quality is better.

Gyoza and tempura are on point with the best sauce Ive had at any restaurant. Also really good chicken teriyaki. My husband likes the sushi too. Hardly ever a wait to be seated our served. My favorite Japanese in downtown Hayward

I dont know if it is actually on the menu, but there is a Korean sushi dish with spicy sauce which is delicious and Sapporo does a great job with it. I am ordering some tonight.

Great place to eat. Prices are reasonable. For $30 you can get multiple dishes plus sake. All the food is great from the sushi, upon, and other dishes.
