Worst place in ENTIRE area do not Waist your time OR money here. The food has gradually gotten worse over time & service is very bad & rude u may not notice on 1 visit but become a regular & U WILL see. Dare to politely complain they get highly upset. Im done with this place to many bento box with mostly fat meats or so tough u CANNOT eat it. Lady tried to tell me that if you dont eat chicken katsu while hot if you let it cool it just becomes tough Lol! So silly but try it for yourself. When I first came here almost a year ago there were ALL different staff cooks waiters waitresses & manager ALL very nice but every time I come in more & more gone & replacements are all bad fake nice at first then rude & UNGRATEFUL for huge tips I always give. My money is good in much better places. The owner is always here a lady that will smile in your face but dont dare complain when things arent right shes NOTHING nice then nor her staff. Sad for them they will lose many customers if they dont do better. Now as I sit here typing this owner comes out to apologize to me & acknowledges me being a very good customer ALWAYS nice & bringing her a lot of business THEN invites me back meal on the house? In ALL fairness I have to tell you this as well & how surprised I was she did so just not sure she is as sincere as she is worries about bad honest REVEIWS & loseing BUSINESS. Not sure Ill ever come back there are too many choices but even after reading this honest reveiw u decide to try it I hope its all good for U.♡♡

Kaizen is my favorite moderately priced sushi place in the area. The following are some of the things I feel differentiate Kaizen from other places in the area: (1) Tempura udon: Tempura is less bready and thick than many comparably priced restaurants. They seem to use potato or tapioca starch for lightness, and I appreciate the different varieties of vegetables based on seasonality and availability. They use excellent udon with a more al dente toothsome texture than standard places. (2) Sushi: Nigiri is sizable, maybe a little too large, but expertly cut and fresh tasting. Rice texture and flavor is consistently good. Condiments are high quality, with a nice mix of traditional and inventive. I appreciate that they provide real wasabi on request (for a nominal charge) and have two types: freshly grated root and seasoned stem. The specialty rolls are huge, and they appear creative and not just a mix of random fish that may or may not actually taste good. Ikura is less salty here, which I enjoy. They often have fresh seasonal specials and live shellfish. I only wish more fish was sustainably sourced, but there are no 100% sustainable sushi places in the south bay or the peninsula. :-( Nice decor with slate accents throughout, and wonderful staff. While I cant speak to the cleanliness of the mens room, the womens restroom was spotless and they have a Toto washlet. So cool!

The restaurant was full but I could still carry on a quite conversation with my bride..5 stars!! Cleanliness: 3.5 Stars (table was a little sticky and I felt they should have cleaned the floor at the table behind me with haste, as there was lots of food stuff on the ground from the pigs who just left) The servers were nice but forgot to get extra teriyaki sauce for wifey. (He did bring it after we asked again) 3.5 stars. My bride ordered the Benton bowl with shrimp and green pepper tempura, Salmon and 5 piece Gyoza. It also came with a bowl of rice, Mizu soup and a salad. Shrimp Tempura..light, crispy and airy (for being fried) 5 stars. The green pepper Tempura was on the oily side. 3 stars Mizu soup: little gritty at the bottom? (Still very good) 3 stars Rice: chewy and slightly al dente 3 stars. Salmon: good but nothing spectacular 3 stars. Gyoza: little on the hard, dry side 3 stars. I ordered the 5 star roll (comes to you warm) The 5 star roll has a medley of light flavors with a hit of heat and sweetness. Its beautiful Sushi!!!, If I wasnt watching my girly figure I could have ate 3 orders! (Yah, its that good) 5 stars of pure yumminess!! Overall I think 3.5 stars is an honest rating for the complete experience.

The service was good and I liked the ambiance. I gotta say from reading other peoples reviews, I had high expectations for this place. We ordered the mixed tempura, cherry blossom, put you hands up, and the assorted sashimi. The tempura was undercooked and wasnt as crispy as Id hoped. The sashimi did melt in my mouth but the size of each piece was underwhelming. The cherry blossom was my favorite with a good amount of tuna on the outside and salmon inside. The put your hands up was a disappointment as the spicy sauce overpowered the flavor of the fish. Others that dont get sushi too often might have had a much better experience but for a sushi lover like myself it was a good not great experience.

I love this place. They got their interior design right, and their sushi is simply amazing. Youll certainly spend quite a bit of money here but in return you get some of the freshest sushi in San Jose. Their roles are creative and presented nicely. They go light on sauces but use natural ingredients to add flavor. They serve some good beers and sake as well and the service is always friendly and quick. You can also make a reservation here so you dont have to stand and wait forever in line. Great place for sushi.

Really bad . They are RUDE ! We ordered food to go and 1 of the Sushi Orders was not in the box. On the phone, we tried to understand why it was not in there.. but to no avail... they hung up on us when we asked to speak with the manager. This is plain rude and would recommend anyone to go elsewhere for Sushi where customers are treated nicely. This is the second time we have a bad experience with this restaurant and thought we would give them a second chance. NEVER again.

I think I just found my new favorite sushi spot. If you love nigiri like me, youll definitely enjoy this place. Outside of SF, its hard to find a good nigiri place for me, but this place had it all. The service was great, decor & size of the restaurant is good, and they also take reservations which is a huge plus. My favorite dishes were the Sake Scottish & Sear Salmon Belly. Will be coming back soon.

Finally! A good sushi place in San Jose. My husband and I moved to San Jose 2 years ago and have been trying to find a place with fresh fish and real, fresh Wasabi. If youre looking for fresh nigiri without being drenched in sauces, this is the place. We are so happy we found a spot to satiate our monthly sushi cravings! Keep it Kaizen - you have earned a repeat customer!

Horrible service. After waiting for almost an hour patiently, finally am told my food will be coming out soon. I finally had to just get up and leave without dinner!!! Cant imagine the food is that great that someone would ve willing to wait an hour for food after being seated. I dont care to give it another chance. There are plenty of other options in the area.
