A co-worker and I picked this place to meet for brunch because it was about half way between us. We thought it opened at 10am so we arrived around 930 to walk around a bit before eating. At 10:05, we walked in. A server mentioned they dont open till 11 but as soon as we started to apologize and turn around, the cook (I believe his name was Antonio) told us to have a seat and theyd gladly serve us. We initially declined as to not oppose but he and 2 of the servers insisted. This immediately made us a huge fan of the place - and we hadnt even seen a menu yet! As for the food, I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich with onion rings and my buddy ordered the double burger with fries. We also ordered the fries listed in the appetizer section thinking theyd be different than his fries. It all came out at the same time and we dug in. Note, the app fries are exactly the same as regular fries, only a much larger portion. And speaking of the fries, they are delicious! Theyre a thick, curly-shape and had just the right amount of crust to them. My onion rings were large and very tasteful. The pesto had a good flavor but was a bit watery, I would still recommend trying it though. As far as his burger, umm, huge is a word that comes to mind. He couldnt finish it but said it was phenomenal. Overall, this place is a definite must-visit!! Anytime employees are that gracious, you have to be appreciative, because that is not common. I wish I could remember the 2 servers that were there (1 was maybe 40ish with brownish blonde hair and said she doesnt eat chicken, haha...the other was in her 20s with dark brown hair and was extremely attractive and pleasant). Either way, Im sure the rest of the crew carries a similar attitude or the owner probably wouldnt have them working there...Do yourself a favor and check this place out. And be sure to treat them well when tip time rolls around.

BIG CAT POKER RUN 2011, day before, excited and ready to run to The Point, the restaurant all of us are gathering at, on the Friday before the run. Started beautifully, as the scenic area adds to the eclectic aire of the place. However, that was the extent of the positive. First thing, we were made aware that they werent prepared for how many had come. I assume that was our first shrill warning of how the rest of the lunch would go. Our table of 7 enthusiastic boaters, talking about the run to come and the beautiful beasts floating outside in the marina, was the first to have our order taken. We waited, and watched, as table after table got their food, and then paid. The room emptied, as we sat, still waiting for our orders. I finally, after an hour and a half, went to the kitchen, and asked what was going on. I was told our order would be out in 3 minutes. About that long after I sat down, a waitress came who was delegated the task of informing us that our order....the entire order....was lost. We were given the option of taking it to go, or waiting longer while it was made. Not wanting to take restaurant food on to a $100K+ vessel at 80-100mph on the delta, we declined, and went to Union Point Bar and Grill, just a short run down the Delta, where we had the most amazing lunch......at almost 3pm. Well never set foot or flipper in the Point Restaurant again.

My wife and I stopped by here while checking out a local event at the Marina on a Saturday. It was close to noon. We were greeted immediately upon entering and seated in a booth after giving the option of a booth or a table. The entire eastern wall of the restaurant faces the river with large windows which provided a fantastic view. A waitress came by shortly with menus and an offer of something to drink. We settled on coffee and noticed that breakfast was still being served (until 1:00 pm). Finally decided to go with the lunch fare. I had a chicken club sandwich with sidewinder fries and my wife had a pesto chicken salad. Our food was promptly brought out with very little wait. We ended up talking with our waitress and although I cannot remember her name, she had been working there since the eighties which says a lot about the restaurants stability. Although we learned that it had passed on from owner to owner over the years, our waitress indicated that the current owner was a fantastic boss. Overall, the food was very good , the environment was good and I would most certainly recommend this place for a nice meal. Not upscale by any means, but just plain comfortable.

The staff was nice and attentive. The view was spectacular. The prices were fair. The food was mediocre. We ordered a cheese platter for an appetizer and it was a bit disappointing. The fruit at this time of year is just coming into season and this could have been a little sweeter. The cheese was just small square slices of Swiss and cheddar with some warmed crackers. My husband ordered the clam chowder which he said rated a 4 out of 10. I had a salad which was very lovely, with fresh crisp vegetables. The bread was warm and very tasty. My husband ordered a calamari steak which was tough and the breading separated easily. I ordered a ribeye which was cooked per my request, but could have used a little salt and pepper, the potatoes were just roasted no seasoning the vegetables had no seasoning. With the location and the staff they could do so much better if they would just work on the food.

We eat here a couple of times a month, and usually everything is good. For some reason, though, our visit to The Point this evening was not good at all. After placing our orders, we waited 20 minutes for our soup/salad, and it took an hour for our entrees to get to us. At no time during this lengthy wait did our server (Crystal) come by to offer any sort of explanation and, when the food finally did arrive, she acted like there was no problem. Anyway, I did something Ive never done before...I gave no tip...zero! Im sure there was some reason for the slow service, and any decent server would make a point to stop by the table to check in and keep us updated.

We we really disappointed!! We thought this was going to be a pleasant dining experience with decent food. Boy, were we wrong. Along with the dead flies on the window sill next to us and the food (?) spattered on the window post, the food was only average to poor. Their most popular dish, the fish and chips, $12.95 was the equivalent of what youd get at Tugboat Fish and Chips for about $7. The Polenta was nothing less than inedible. The sauce tasted like a household cleaning solution (No Kidding!!) Our Motorcycle group was planning a get together there, but now, we will definitely find another location.

My mom, a dear friend, and I dined at the Point for lunch, today. When we were seated we discovered they had a live band playing. They sounded great, however, they were way too loud for any kind of conversation to take place while enjoying our meal. We had to shout to be heard. We found out it was their first time playing there. Thats fine in a much bigger venue, such as a casino, but not in a small restaurant. The Chicken Alfredo was delicious and plenty enough for 2 meals. Service was fast and our Server was very nice.
