The ice cream game is strong in Princeton, and well-documented. In my years as a student here, Halo Pub has narrowly edged out Bent Spoon and T Sweets as my favorite, for the following reasons: 1. Its cheap (cheaper than the other two). You can offer to spring for people and not go broke. 2. Its tastes like America (not as high-quality as Bent Spoon, but it tastes like it actually comes from a real farm, which in this case is a good thing). Bent Spoon has reached ice cream perfection; Halo Pub has an honest, homemade feel. 3. The line is long, but thats half the fun. There are other reasons to like Halo (largest selection, other things like chocolate milk are available). There are also lots of reasons to prefer the other two (see the other reviews). Eat at all three and see for yourself.

While theres other options, Halo Pub is the best for Ice Cream. The snobby will always be taken in by Bent Spoons organic focus - stuff there is very good, just really expensive and hyped up. And the unwashed masses can go to Thomas Sweet and be soon parted from their money for some soap style processed mush. But the discerning folks come here, because its the outlet for the local independent dairy, and they make good ice cream in lots of real flavours, and then charge a modest amount for it.

Ive tried really hard to find ice cream as good as Halo Pubs! My attempts in Germany, Mexico, Austria, Iceland, San Diego, DC, etc, etc have all failed. Halo Pub is simply the best. I gave up trying to find comparable ice cream a long time ago. They have generous portion sizes and are allergy friendly (both my children have corn and wheat allergies). Well priced. Sweet staff with great customer service. This has been my go to favorite since 2002. Ive never been disappointed.

Best hot chocolate in Princeton, hands down! Very chocolaty but also light and frothy from the steamed milk. Mmm... The ice cream here is also great, and the most reasonably priced in Princeton by far. Halo does everything in a classic and wonderful way, so while Id go to bent spoon if I wanted something particularly creative or decadent, Halo is definitely where Id go for a casual ice cream or hot drink, and it never disappoints.

I was told nobody should rate this ice cream lower than 5 stars. You can taste the real, fresh ingredients in each flavor. No artificial colors used, and Im sure no artificial flavors. Very reasonable price, and LARGE SCOOPS. Mine were definitely well above average size. Maybe its because I went on a quiet-ish weekday versus a busy weekend, but I can only review what I experienced. Best in the area without a doubt.

Simply amazing. I was hesitant to get an eggnog drink but went for it on the staffs suggestion. I must say, the choconog milkshake (eggnog ice cream + chocolate milk) is absolutely fantastic. Must order another! On a separate note, I absolutely love the decor. The homey turn of the 20th c. and the big bay windows make the experience even better. Hooray for great ice cream shoppes!

Had a difficult time deciding with the large variety of flavours they offer. It was delicious and tasted so good. Only thing I would suggest is to have a better way of scooping. We had 4 double scoops and unfortunately the last persons was much smaller than the rest (it was the one we went to celebrate Fathers Day with and for). Definitely worth stopping.

We loved the ice-cream. Simply splendid. They do have smaller serving sizes, which lets you taste many of their different flavors. Prize is very reasonable. They use their own cows for the ice-cream!!! Love the look of the place and the surroundings. Be prepared to stand in a line to get their ice-cream. Its worth the wait though.

Got a terrible experience with Halo Pub when they failed to make party cakes on time. Though it was totally their fault rep was not ready to help us at all, consider delivering it or even taking payment by phone. So it works well to get a cup of ice cream, but dont count on them for cakes if you dont your kids party ruined.

After trying other soft serves for months, I came back here again recently. I could compare it now. The first taste wowed me. I was shown the light on why this place provides the best soft serve ice cream!! I dont care what flavor they have, Im getting it and on the chillest of days because it trumps weather and mood.

Very reasonable price specially in Princeton area. My favor ice cream is Mocha chips. It is sweet and just sweet enough to save my day . My kids love chocolate with sprinkles . Yes, I would like to introduce Halo to my kids and all my friends . BTW: ice cream cake here also is a good choice !

If you visit Princeton or Trenton, Halo is a must. Its the rich and creamy texture that really makes their ice cream what it is. Its just so lush and still so simple. It feels right. Was always my favorite growing up, but now theres the bent spoon too... so it depends what Im feeling.

Halo is good but if you are looking for something original and authentic to the town of Princeton then Thomas Sweet is the place to go! It has been a staple in Princeton for over 30 years and continues to draw the crowds during the summers in particular as well as the students.

The ice cream was good although not completely up to the hype I expected. I was not overly impressed. Definitely not bad. There was a line that moved quickly. The really good thing was the place is really affordable. And they serve La Colombe coffee!!!

Ice cream here is locally made and is delicious. Its a charming and cozy ice cream shop with great prices. Id highly recommend ordering their chocolate covered strawberries on Valentines Day- theyre ridiculously luxurious.

Personally, Im not a big sweets person most of the time. But I had the ice cream cappuccino which was good! Interesing mix of hot and cold but be sure to drink it after you order it cause it will melt if you wait too long

Hands down the best ice cream around!! And quick service. Place big enough not to feel crowded but isnt large. Seating available in the room next door and outside, which is perfect if you want to sit and chat with friends!

Best, 100% natural ice cream, coffee, and dessert place in downtown Princeton, served by the local Halo Farm in Trenton, NJ. Their hot chocolate or hot coffee with a scoop or two of ice cream is a must try!
