Portion sizes are HUGE. You can feed 2 to 3 off of one plate (for small appetites OR kids order from adult menu ) OR feed yourself and be wellllll fed. Kids meals are awesome size too and the clown waffle is super cute. BE PREPARED FOR A WAIT ON SUNDAY service is quick and attentive and everything was as ordered and perfect. I spoiled myseld with vaca eating and got the nutella crepes with strawberries OMG... heavenly. Coffee is good...hot but we did have to ask for creamer a few times as we had several coffee drinkers at our table. (Plain creamer only). For how busy they are... you dont get forgotten and your food doesnt wait at a window getting cold it was quick service even for a group of 13 our food was brought out quicker than Ive had in a 2 person group at average restaurants... I was IMPRESSED. Food was so good for sure home cooking type of "made with love" flavor. Again be prepared to EAT!!!! Youll be fed here real well lol. I will for sure visit hwre again next time in in San diego

While its true that the portions are large, the food is definitely appropriately defined as "diner" food, and tastes even better when its really late, like when youre super hungry. Otherwise, I tend not to eat here. The BLT is good, and so are the onion rings. They have a beer batter. The omelets are huge and come with beans or potatoes, toast or pancakes. The pancakes are fluffy and huge. Notice the trend; huge. Some people really care about the serving size, but something is lost in quality. Im not sure how much of the food here is "homemade". The menus are sticky. This bothers me. The owners are sweet people, and the place gets packed. You can order ahead for pickup, and thats nice.

Very good food.. great service and staff.You can customize anything if you ask them. I got calamari steak. It said nothing about being breaded on the menu. It showed up breaded. I asked for unbreaded and they made it for me without question. place has a special for every day of the week. Tuesday tacos for 1.59 each I believe. good seating, bathroom was fine. Prices are reasonable. the amount of food you get is great. They serve breakfast ALL DAY HUGE+++ omelets are huge to spit! The menu is for all those finicky eaters. Some of these people are writing about the old people. Well its a family restaurant.

We have been visiting both this location and the original on Broadway for over 15 years. For the other reviewers knocking them for the decor, lets face it, we dont come here for the decor, we come for the great tasting breakfast and comfort food. Its a diner atmosphere and, at least for me and my family, the waitstaff often remembers us and our usual orders. We love this place and of course their huge portion sizes. The omelets are definitely world-famous.

Ah, Family House of Pancakes ..Been going here for 30+ years. This place holds so many memories for me. The food is consistently good... and I feel at home. Linda ( when you can catch her there) is a great lady and we have enjoyed knowing her for years. The menu is large and varied. But I usually go with sausage and eggs .. scrambled ... pancakes ... apricot syrup. .. wont have to eat for the rest of the day. Ohhhhh.... love me sum Family House. ...

Great place for breakfast food and sandwiches. Their omelets are something to be had here. Big portions and very tasty as well. The service is nice and usually attentive. FYI, Some other locations use too much cheese on their omelets, this place gets the egg/content/cheese ratio right with nothing overpowering the other. Try it out!

Be aware of the $1.50 per person splitting fee! It was very busy on a weekday morning. Great service, massive portions, good taste. Prices seemed a little high for a weekday breakfast on Plaza Blvd. Our family of two adults and two kids and one baby split two omelette meals (with water only) for $30 plus tip.

We came from Ohio to visit my son in San Diego. This is one of his favorite restaurants so he took us there. It is now one of our favorites. Delicious food. Especially the pancakes. Big portions. Our waitress was so nice and funny. If you like diners and homemade food this is your place.

Great homely service from all the staff, great food all day long gone with HUGE portions. Let that be a warning. I ordered spam and eggs, came with 3 pancakes and I still ordered 3 Nutella crepes. Needless to say I couldnt finish my food. Love the place, love the people and atmosphere

Best momma and pop joint to go to. Ive been taking my family for quite some time now, and everytime we leave with full bellies and a smile. The staff are always great. It can can get packed somtimes but the wait is worth it. If its packed you know the place is good.

Friendly service, great attitudes. Like everyone else said, portions are huge. My omelette barely fit on the plate. Plus it came with three pancakes. Housemade salsa is delicious! Coffee was fresh and tasty, frequent refills throughout the meal.

Omelettes as big as your head! Great food with ridiculously huge portions. Stand outs include the chorizo omelette, bacon waffle, and chiliquiles. Ask for the apricot syrup, they only bring it out on request and it is delicious!

Be prepared to be ignored and or get crappy service. My family and I dont go here anymore due to the treatment. Which sucks because the food is good but if you want to have crappy service then this is the place for you.
