This was the first time my husband and I ate here and it was the worst experience we ever had! The only reason we decided to eat here is because of a coupon we received through the Clipper Marketplace and on the ad it stated THE NEW Chinatown Buffet there is nothing New about this place. The lady at the register was so rude and didnt want to accept our coupon at first, then we were seated by the another rude lady who was our waitress. If we didnt have to pay up front we would have walked out but we decided to try the food BIG MISTAKE we each made a plate sat down and tried a bite of everything we had on our plate and it was so bad and cold that we just up and left. The tables, chairs and booths were not clean at all!!! Its a wonder this restaurant is still open, it needs to be CLOSED for Health Hazards. I will be sending a letter to the Health Inspector to have this place inspected. PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING 15 OR 20% OFF WITH DRINKS INCLUDED IS NOT WORTH YOUR HEALTH!!!!

I paid 23 dollars for an empty buffet. We sat around eating fruits and soup until someone would make more rice and lo mien, orange chicken, beef and broccoli. After waiting for 30 mins I asked if I could just get a refund because Ive been waiting for a long time. The girl called the manager and she said all they can refund is 5$. If I pay full price for a buffet I should be able to get full access to all the food on buffet. I argued with the manager over the phone and still they refused to give a refund because we were there for over 30 mins. I tried explaining that I waited for 30 mins to serve some more food but it never happened. And still refused to offer a refund. Im very upset and angry because they took my money and offered nothing in return.. I just want to know if theres anything else I can do to get my money back. Thats all they have to do because Im never coming back to this empty and very rude buffet. Im very very upset.

Terrible place. The food is ok but the staff is terrible. Ive never seen such disgrace in any place all over the world. Its a buffet: you come, sit down, they bring you a drink once and you go and get your food yourself. Its a buffet, there is no thing like a waitress who services you, you serve your own food. However, when you go pay for your meal, the Chinese ladies who work there rudely tap on your receipt saying, "No tip???" And they will do it until you get fed up with such actions and say, "No! No tip!". What do I have to tip them for?? For putting signs all over the buffet "For any food left on your plate, youll be charged a 20% fee". Do I have to tip them for bringing me one glass of water? Ive been to this place twice and I will never go there again only because of the rudeness of the staff and their cute little rules that declare no one can leave any food on the place otherwise they will be charged a fee.

Food made me sick! I actually got ill from the small amount of food I was able to ingest at this place. The food isnt heated properly and many of the items were lukewarm -- scary. It was only around 1pm, so its not like we should have been getting the old, cold food. Soup that smlled like bleach -- YES, BLEACH! Rubbery dumplings (cold), gristly chicken, overly breaded items that looked dry and nasty -- we had a hard time finding anything we felt like trying. We saw a kitchen worker come out without head covering or gloves and put out cream puffs with bare hands. Ugh! Despite only eating a tiny amount, mostly white rice, I still got sick from the food I ate there. And OMG, the poor fish in that filthy tank, I felt so sorry for them!!! If people are concerned about this restaurant, they can file a complaint with the AZ Dept of Health. It doesnt take long, and maybe will save others from getting sick.

I wish it were possible to give negative stars... We just decided to try this place and it was horrible... The food was disgusting, some of it tasted like it was going bad... The place was dirty and the service was just despicable... The booth seat cut me because some metal strip was sticking out, the server spilled sweet-n-sour sauce all over the table while we were up looking at different food and didnt even bother to clean it all up or say anything... We couldnt eat hardly anything because it was all either over cooked, over salted, old, bad or dry as dirt... We ended up going to McDonalds when we left because we couldnt even get down a plate-full of this food... for twenty-dollars and some change this place is far from worth it... If you like throwing money away try it... If you like decent food go somewhere else...

Boy did I pick a wrong day to leave my phone in the car. So Im gonna try to paint a picture for you. Is there such thing as a minus -⭐ For rating? If not I shall settle for 1⭐and heres why... * Cheap costume jewelry sold at cashier counter * Food splattered on the walls in dining room area at the booth we were sitting. * Bathroom has sliding bolt lock on the door that does Not latch. * The two bathroom stalls had No latch, so the door would not stay closed. * There was a gallon of some type of cleaning supply sitting on the floor in the middle of bathroom. * As you can imagine the bathroom were filthy. I really wish that I would have used the restroom when we first arrived then I definitely would not have stayed. If their bathrooms are this dirty, Can just imagine with her kitchen looks like?

Fortunately for me, I went to this restaurant before I read the awful reviews for it! I ate lunch there today (1/20/09) & enjoyed it completely! This is a large place, & a little run down, but the atmosphere is comfortable. It could also be managed a little tighter, as at least one food tray was allowed to run out while I was there. With that said, though, my waiter was friendly & attentive, the selection was large (around 60 items), & the food was delicious! (I eat at different Chinese buffets around the valley two or three times a week, & there ARE some "one star" places, but this ISNT one of them!) Now if you need a modern place, go over to Jumbo Buffet*, but if youre in Tempe & good food is the main thing, youll like China Town Buffet. See you there! *3414 W Southern, Phx

Never in my life was I hesitant on choosing what to eat, until I went to this place. Im not sure if it was the timing, but when I went there were hardly any food. We also got the hotpot deal, which was $17 per person. The silverware at the stations were dirty.. Seriously dirty.. There were stains on it. The bathroom... I was seriously about to leave home after going to the bathroom. It was nastier than any bathroom Ive been too. That says a lot since Ive visited third world countries. There were toilet paper all over the floor and it smelled horrendous, so bad I was about to throw up. In addition, I didnt even get a refill on my drink and it wasnt even busy... There were probably 3 other people there. Im guessing they didnt want to waste money.
