Im from Tucson, visiting for a conference held on phoenix. We were interested in trying some good food in the area, but low and behold, we went to 3 restaurants (we stopped at Red kimchi Caribbean Palm and Pho Cao), before finding this treasure (and thank god we did, it was worth looking! even though we were sooo hungry) The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. It was a million times better than the other places we had stopped by, it felt inviting, and VERY clean (HUGE thing for me, since being a server previously for some time). Gopi (I may have misspelled that sorry!) kindly explained everything to us there and was a excellent server as well as the other gentlemen. Man oh man the food there (which I suppose was norther india) was SOOOOOOOO good!! First thing youre asked is how youd like your bread (Im not sure what kind it was but it was flat, and we had garlic on it) The food is offered buffet style and you can order some stuff off of a menu as well; We did the buffet. It was very fresh, and extremely flavorful (though I didnt notice that the spicy foods were not noted! so ask before getting something if you dont like spicy [but why the hell would you eat indian if you dont like spicy, just saying.]). We also had a drink(its non-alcoholic), a mangolassi (it was soo good. I wish I knew how this was made!) I should point out that the buffet seems very small as opposed to usual chinese buffets or american buffets, but dont be discouraged. There were quite a few options on the small buffet table, that were all very VERY filling. I had tried a little bit of everything on one plate, and I couldnt quite finish, regardless of how hungry I was. (If we had gone to another buffet, I would have cleared 3 plates easy.) While you could argue that the dessert is a little lacking (like 2-3 options if that) they were very delicious as well but different! (try those donuts!) I think the mangolassi made up for what was missing personally. (though I dont have a fancy for a freak ton of sugary desserts) That was my first visit. -We came back that weekend to get more even though we live 150 miles away- Sadly we didnt get more of this delicious extremely cheap food... we were very sad, but we understood given the circumstances. First of all we arrived at 2:25pm, which they closed between lunch and dinner service at 2:30pm (But man they were so kind, they offered for us to come in and order off of the menu, but out of courtesy to the servers and staff we went to another restaurant.) . And second, that unfortunately their buffet table warmer had broken, and refused to serve food on a none heated table (Which I highly appreciated, because too often I find restaurants disregarding safety factors like food getting too cool/heated properly for the sake of making money). While this restaurant is very new, you should ABSOLUTELY TRY IT. I really really really hope this doesnt close down, where else would I go?! (you guys rock!)

I did not enjoy my meal or ordering experience from this establishment. I ordered and had the food delivered by Door Dash. I usually love eating Indian food because of the variety of vegitarian options and the well seasoning of the dishes. In ordering my curry meal there were no pictures, or description of the types of curry used with the dish (red, yellow or green). In requesting the intensity of heat it was very ambiguous as to the degree of heat used in preparation. I selected the last description, at the bottom of the list, thinking it would be the least spicy selection. When we received our chicken biryani meal, the dish was way too spicy and it didnt have one vegi, raisin or nut in it. Unable to manage the spiciness I mixed in plain yogurt to be able to eat it. Another big concern I had with this order is the lack of flavor in our meal. The tandoori chicken was not seasoned well and it was not cooked completely. My lentil soup had mixed kidney beans in it and very watey. I could personally do without the few pieces of chicken for a better seasoned, more lentils, and less water lentil soup. I was most disappointed in my fish curry. It was watery, it literally had four pieces of fish with a taste that was completely offputting nothing else but red, watery broth. The curry fish was $12.99 too much for what I got. This is the first time Ive left such a long negative review. I feel obliged to forewarn the next customer to proceed with caution, if you dare.

Being a big fan of Indian cuisine Ive tried many Indian restaurants in the valley. Someone recommended this place so I brought the family for dinner. We are vegetarians so I cant give any recommendation for the meat entrees but what we had was excellent. For appetizers we ordered the vegetable Samosas and the vegetable pakoras which were both very good. We ordered the mataar paneer and the tikka masala as recommended by our waiter. The mataar was good but the tikka masala was excellent! We also had garlic naan and basmati rice. The naan was delicious and definitely on par with the best Ive had else where. As far as the service goes our waiter was very friendly and courteous. The restaurant was pretty large with lots of seating and a nice environment. The only negative I can think of is that the rice isnt included with the currys but Ive found several other restaurants that are doing this as well... To me this is kind of like ordering a sandwich and having to pay extra for the bread but maybe thats just me. :) Overall I would highly recommend you try New India Gate and I might even say it is the best Ive tried in the Valley.

Went for my birthday to the "Famous Lunch Buffet" and was not disappointed. The buffet was only $8.95, and the food was delicious. Different varieties of chicken such as the Tikka Masala, Tandoori, and Curry, as well as some vegetarian options and lots of rice. However, the actually buffet size is rather small, but this gives it a more home-y feel, as if an Indian mother had come to cook a five course meal for you. The Mango Lassi I had was delicious as well, a sweet and tangy compliment to the spicy foods. The venue itself was beautiful, nice and clean, and very well decorated. I am giving this place four out of five stars simply because the buffet didnt have all the dessert I would have liked to eat, it only had a couple traditional items, which were delicious though.

Im starting to get the hang of Indian food, and as George Costanza would say: "Im Loving It !". So when a friend suggested an Indian buffet, I was all over it. India Gate is great, not pretentious or over the top, with a good sized menu, oh but I didnt want the menu Georgie, I wanted the buffet. It had all of my favorites like palak paneer and matter paneer, plus some new favorites like the minced lamb and green chutney. I love their lunch buffet and stop by at least twice a month, but I was unimpressed with the lamb vindaloo entree from the menu. The lamb was tough and had gristle. Boo Gristle... Hooray Beer!
