We started going to this restaurant for breakfast not long after it opened off Lake Pleasant Pkwy and Happy Valley Rd. I thought I had finally found my go to place for weekend breakfasts that both my husband and I loved. Since we both are creatures of habit and always order the same thing each weekend imagine our dismay when our "ordered" home fries arrived with a mush mess of soggy peppers and onions on top of them. NOT what we ordered. ugh sent that mess back and of course all they did was scrape the mush nasty mess off and bring it back.... awfulllll nasty morning for us. Then bothered to tell us "oh by the way we changed the menu" HELLO!!!!! let folks know when you alter stuff. We USED to be regulars. So I asked the wait-person what that mess was on my "ordered" home fries? and was told they were country potatoes, then told by the person who brought our breakfasts back out after they scraped it, that it was obrien potatoes. Now think about this I said to the wait person, "we ordered what we always order (HOME FRIES) perfect opportunity to inform us the menu changed and (home fries) would have been the key that we order from here often... they could have informed us the menu changed the weekend before and the home fries were not on the menu but home fries with a mush mess of soggy peppers and onions would be sat on our plates. Now I am no expert but I am from the country and Ive lived all over. Their menu states on half the items hash browns or country potatoes NOW and the other half the menu states Obrien. Sorry I have never in my life seen country or obrien potatoes with mush crap tossed on top after spuds are cooked. google it. google country and obrien spuds. you saute it not mush it or toss a wet mess on top a perfectly nummy home fry... fix your menu or fix your cooks. I wont come back HOME FRIES RULE NOT the mess you serving now... sorry

Negative customer service experience. My wife, daughter (7yrs old), and I entered this restaurant at 9:30AM on a Monday for breakfast. The layout of the restaurant is a large single serving room with tables, booths, and a counter/bar. The counter/bar area had menus and silverware on the counter at each seat. The tables were all full and there was a wait for them, so we proceeded to sit at the counter. The "bartender" gave us an extremely rude response and proceeded to ridicule us for seating our child at a "bar". I stated that I didnt suggest she serve our child alcohol, but instead we were interested in breakfast at 9:30AM. She proceeded to tell me it was illegal to seat my daughter at the bar and we would have to wait for a table. I did as she insisted and the rest of our experience was just fine after waiting for out table. The thing that really made me mad was the way she handled the situation and the fact that she lied and told me it was illegal. In Arizona a food serving business has one of three types of liquor license: 1. they serve primarily food and they are a restaurant 2. They serve primarily alcohol and they are a bar (must be posted external to the building that no one can enter that is under 21). 3. BYOB license - not that case here. Both 1. and 2. treat every seat in the establishment as equal, either 21 and over or not. I totally understand if the business has their own rule, in which case you need to tell me that, dont tell me it is illegal. Then politely help me get a table. I have a very negative view of this establishment for their handling of this situation. The date was Monday January 2nd at 9:30-10:00AM.

First timer here. We decided to drop by for breakfast on a Saturday at 10:00am. I instantly enjoyed the vibe of the decor as it screams Simi rustic country Americana. We were seated right away and our server Steven promptly greeted us and took our drink orders. I indulged in a peach belini and my husband had the bacon bloody Mary both so very delicious!! I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs and country potatoes and my husband had the meat omlette. When the food came it was a healthy serving which is good to see the size meets the price you pay. My eggs were cooked exactly how I ordered, the country potatoes were good, but I prefer a bit of a crunch, the biscuits were big and fluffy and very yummy.. My only gripe is that the biscuits deserved a better gravy on them. The sauage gravy was bland and seemed to either be canned or made with wondra.. I wouldnt order it again unfortunately. My hubands omelette was delicious, no complaints! Steven checked on us a few times during the meal, and promptly removed my plate as I was done before my husband. When my husband was done a different person took his plate and within moments we were brought our check. We probably would have had another round of drinks if we were asked if we wanted anything else, but instead we just decided to pay the bill and leave. Over all, we would return again as the atmosphere and service were great! We will be back to try lunch and dinner!

I cannot possibly say enough good things about this place. Weve been going to Haymaker pretty regularly since they opened. The food and service have always been fantastic which is what keeps us coming back. Tonight we had an experience that really showed the integrity of the staff and only deepens our loyalty. My family (husband, 2 young kids and I) were seated for dinner in one of 2 booths in the bar area. The group in the other booth talked loudly and inappropriately through most of our meal. When my husband asked me if they would be leaving (they were apparently waiting on another table), I answered unfortunately not. At that point, they began to attack us for having our kids in a bar (if youve been to the restaurant, youll understand that the "bar" area is not a bar). Once they left, the server came by to check on us. We let her know the food was great and commented on how much better things were now that the group was gone. The manager came over and insisted on comping our meal because of the incident. She apologized for our experience and explained that The Haymaker does not stand for that. We will be customers forever!

Burgers here are great but we just ate here and had a terrible experience. One member of our party has some dietary restrictions and ask for some modifications to a salad on the menu, one of which included dressing on the side. The salad was brought out with dressing all over it. They took it back and brought it back a few minutes later. She started eating the salad but it became very evident that they had just washed off the dressing because the lettuce still tasted like it and was very soggy. Also, one of the ingredients that was supposed to be in the salad wasnt. After the salad was brought back, no one inquired about how it was and our waitress seemed to ignore us except for bringing the check. Im really disappointed with Haymaker after this poor experience.
