I grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Colorado over 20 years ago. One of the first things I noticed was a lack of good BBQ in the area (and Ive tried virtually every place out there). For a long time Brothers was as close to decent BBQ as I could find...until GQue opened! This place has been a game changer for local BBQ. First, Jason (the owner) is one of the nicest people youll meet. I took my son in the first week they were open and youd have thought we were old friends (myself and Jason) because of the way he talked to us. Every time Ive been in since (and there have been many) the service has always been great and everyone had a smile on their face. But, lets face it, the service can be great and the restaurant can look great (this one does), but if the BBQ isnt great then its just another place offering mediocre BBQ. Thats where GQue sets itself apart, the BBQ is fantastic! Everything from the pulled pork and brisket to the wings are amazing and take me back to my youth and eating good BBQ! Ive seen a few reviews of people complaining about price, and I have to tell you that if youve ever eaten good BBQ then you know its not the same price as running through the McDonalds drive thru. Its going to be more expensive than a hamburger, but if its good then its worth it and this is definitely good. Ive also discovered that GQues pricing is in line with every other BBQ place in the metro (and the quality is so, so, SO much better!). If you are looking for good BBQ and havent found it yet (or just want good BBQ) then do yourself a favor and head to GQue. If youre like me, then itll become a place you frequent!

First Impression - clean; fresh; quality; prompt, friendly service; great options of meats, sandwiches, and sides; a touch on the pricey side. I would concur with previous reviews on the quality of the food being really great. I had the Sasquatch sandwich (brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and apple slaw on a large buttered brioche bun) and it was solid with great depth of flavor and ample quantity of meat. At $12 you would think it would come with GQues homemade pub chips, but those are an extra $3. With a drink I was just shy of $20 which a bit pricey for my taste on a regular basis; however, great BBQ in my opinion is a delicacy and if youre expecting to, or are paying low dollar for BBQ then youre likely getting low quality or BBQ from a chain restaurant. Ill give GQue a break on the cost of serving up solid BBQ in a clean, friendly environment as a local small-business, and I would highly advise you to give them a shot. Unfortunately I cant afford the frequent visits that my taste buds are yearning for after having my initial sampling. Keep it up GQue.

From a Judge: I am a KCBS BBQ judge and have seen Jason bouncing around BBQ contests for some years now. I heard he was opening a location and found myself in the area so I decided to stop by. First let me say that it is incredibly difficult to take small batch food and present it to the masses on a grand scale. Processes are harder to keep consistent, ingredients ratios are harder to calculate thus flavors end up being different from the original. That being said, GQue has found a way to bring his honed talent to the public on a grand scale. After an hour car ride home smelling the aromas in the bag next to me the whole way, I was extremely pleased with what I was eating!! Spot on smoke, rubs that show several taste layers. I am happy to see Jason on the public restaurant scene. Keep up the good work! Recommendations: Brisket for sure! I prefer the lean end but the flavor is great with both. Ribs! Just see for yourself..... Mac & Cheese. They use some of their base spices in the sauce and it work famously! Enjoy!

I started off with a 5 star rating for this place but have moved it down to a 4. The service here is always 5 out of 5, friendly, quick and courteous. However I have seen steadily increasing inconsistencies in the food and its ability to be warm, high quality and plentiful. The first experience I had here was great. We got served in a decent amount of time, the pulled pork was phenomenal, finely pulled and fresh. The ribs fell off the bone yet were full of meat and flavorful. The brisket and the dry rub wings were better than anywhere we had tried in town, we loved both sauces and to top it off both their lemonade and sweet tea were fire. From here on out things have not been as great. The pulled pork has been thick, chewy and cold. The brisket has been thin and extra fatty. We got 6 (puny) wings when ordering a pound. And of course the guy working food prep had to have an attitude when confronted with our being shorted and gives us the smallest number of wings possible while still filling a pound order.

My husband and I eat a lot of hole in the wall bbq - Carolina, Texas, KC, etc...we love BBQ. First of all, if youre looking for a Fam*** Daves, this is not it! This is a real BBQ restaurant. The service is outstanding! The meat is moist. The overall flavor of the bbq is not great, not horrible - sort of lackluster. Not great crust on the brisket, although theres good bark. We did brisket, pulled pork, and burnt ends. The brisket was probably the thing we liked the best. The pork was pretty good, as well. Burnt ends were not "burnt" enough. It was mostly like cubed brisket. The sauce is terrible. We rarely bother with sauce, and this is no exception. The meat should stand on its own. We have some other places we like better, so this wont be our go-to BBQ place. Theres one in Superior that is fabulous, but this would probably be the 3rd choice in the Metro area. I hope they can do well because it is nice to have something different once in a while.

The smoked meat was alright, sides were solid, but the sauces really need some work. The brisket was lightly smoked but well done, we love thick bark and a lot of smoke. Turkey was nice, cut thick, quite juicy, but Id get it as a club next, then itd have some crunch. Pulled pork was probably their best, that on a sandwich would be very good. Their ribs or wings might have different bark or smoke, we didnt try either of those. Pit smoked beans really werent that great because of the simple tasting sauce. Two flavors in both of theirs, vinegar and heat. Not a whole lot going on. Brined fries were excellent, crispy with a tender center. Coleslaw was pretty good, had an interesting twist with apples. Its essential to any BBQ, so Im glad to see they executed it well. But they didnt have corn bread or even fried corn bread (no oven needed for that). Its sad to see BBQ without cornbread

When my wife and I made the decision to move here from Texas, we made it a mission to find decent barbeque in the Denver area. There first few places we tried out feel quite short of our expectations. Then, on one of my trips solo out here, I stumbled across GQue. I can honestly say this is the best barbeque Ive ever had. That alone would be enough to keep me coming back, but the icing on the cake is the owner himself. After only meeting on the first visit, when I returned with my wife the following week, he remembered my name, my story, and even bought wife and I drinks for our visit! Extremely impressive customer service! When we brought our kids in almost two months later after making the move out, he once again welcomed us by name, and spent the time to come talk to us and get to know us better. We drive almost 45 minutes to get here from our house, and its worth every mile!!
