Its been less than two months since we found this wonderful diner and I think my sister and I have been there 5 times. Each time has been awesome! Patti was our waitress for yesterdays visit. Even after four visits, there are so many tantalizing items on the menu, I still couldnt figure out what I had wanted - except for one item-- the sweet cream pancakes. Sweet cream pancakes with what? "Do I just get a short stack" and save room for their cobblers , bread pudding, a gigantic bearclaw ( no kidding) but darn those omelettes, They have a good portion of breakfast choices on the menu Their menu is not lacking in homecooking. They have breakfast all day, lunch, and dinner after 4pm (dont quote me on it though) just call them. By the way, their dessert menu -there are still a couple of items I didnt mention. Back to Patti-she helped narrow down my choices. I ordered a small volcano: 3 smaller sized sweet cream pancakes; 1 sausage (no tiny link sausage here, it was thicker link hat many served at other restaurants); 1 slice of bacon -crisped to perfection; 1 egg overhard. Thank goodness, I ordered a small volcano- couldnt even finish my pancakes- I had to save room for dessert. My sisters. She ordered the cherry cobbler a la mode-- cherries had enough sweetness and tartness, Vanilla bean ice cream on top with some whipped cream. Really, you cant go wrong with this cobbler. So I helped her finish her cobbler (no tiny portion here). Patti was the best!! She even let us know what coupons are out there on the internet for the next time we come in. She asked if we had a frequent diner card. For a small nominal fee of $5-, your next visit has a preloaded $10 discount. Dont worry, if you dont spend the full amount on that visit, the balance is transferable (how great is that!!). So besides the discount, you will continue to rack diner points when you use this card. Every 100 points you will get an automatic $10 discount.on your next meal (dont forget to bring your card to the diner, of course) So thanks again to Patti & the crew at Black Bear Diner for great food and spectacular service. Oh before I forget-- Tyler-- at the register. Excellent customer service!! Thank you also for going in search of the frequent diner card for us.

Had my first visit here today and the experience was a bit of a let down. Today was pretty busy being Fathers Day and all but this place seems like it could handle the influx of patrons. We arrived at noon and were told twenty to twenty-five minute wait. The lobby was very crowded so we sat on the bench just outside the 2nd front door. Within a few minutes of sitting there that became crowded as well. After watching many people pull up and leave once they saw how many people were waiting to be seated, the crowd began shrinking. After 40 minutes I noticed people were getting tables that came in well after us. So I gave them another 6 minutes and walked up to check on my place in line. A man in a name tag less red uniform shirt with glasses checked to find my name had been crossed off already. To which he stated we must have called you already. To my surprise I replied weve been sitting right here for 46 minutes. With no acknowledgement of what I just said he turned to the hostess who wrote us in and asked if they had a table they could get us in. She said they did and guided us to a small table by the bar and bused it real quick so we could be seated. After that was food was pretty good and fair priced. The waitress was great and on point. My biggest problem is for a restaurant of this caliber to not have a buzzer type system or something for waiting customers is weird. Plus if they did call my name it was a whisper so perhaps a "Im sorry about that sir, let me see if i can get you a table." Would have been a bit better then just turning away and handling it without clear communication.

We got a really good first impression but every time since we have been very disappointed. Best part about it is the food portions are big but the quality is horrible. This time was the worst. Thank goodness we called ahead to put our name on the list. We were 20 min out and were seated almost immediately. The lobby was packed. Almost nowhere to stand and the place immediately smelled like urine and body odor. They were busy so Im not surprised that they were out of some things like crayons and kids cups. The server was attentive and even the manager was on the floor clearing tables and seating people so kutos to the service and teamwork. We ordered two chicken fried steak and two kids waffles and they forgot the waffles so they made one and cut it in half and served it on two plates as if we wouldnt notice and charged us for two. They brought me burned toast and then replaced it with uncooked toast. The country potatos were SOAKED in grease and were a mixture of burned and RAW potatoes. The chicken fried steak was the size of my palm. And I just couldnt get over the smell of the restaurant. The gravy was delicious and the orange juice tasted fresh squeezed. We will not be back to this location. We will drive twice as far to a different store.

Some of the slowest service, lack of caring, and mediocre food I have ever had. The chicken fried steak was dry, the hash browns were undercooked and like warm at best. The only saving grace for the food was the white pepper sausage gravy and the biscuit that was also provided with the meal. I waited over 10 minutes for a refill on my coffee, and ended up getting the refill from a completely different server who brought our food, which took well over 40 minutes to arrive. I would understand if it had been overwhelmingly busy for the servers, but really they just seemed to be working random tables with no from of organization. As we went to pay and get the h*** out, the woman ahead of us in line also voiced her opinions of the terrible service and food provided to whom I believe was the manager. I had heard nothing but good reviews about this place, but sadly I will never return after this experience.

This is the 1st time weve been to this location and it was very disappointing to say the least. Manager was very friendly. The server was nice. Getting out our food for a party of 10 was a disaster! They served 4 of us then 10 mins later they served 2 more if us then another 5 mins 3 more of us then 10 mins later 1 more of us then finally the last person was served. Mined you we are family who waits for everyone to get there food then we eat. By the time the last person received there food our food was cold. I asked the server when the rest of the food would be out when the 1st 4 of us were served and she said " We place orders half at a time for big parties". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Well needless to say this will be last time we come here. Im so disappointed because the one in Chandler is awesome. Please think about your customers and when theres a party of 10 or more please serve them ALL AT ONCE!
