Rasoi is my favorite Indian restaurant on Newark Avenue. At my old job, wed go here for special occasions (like for birthdays and goodbye lunches). We would do the lunch buffet, so you can get a little bit of everything. So many delicious dishes at a low price (you definitely get the most bang for your buck here). Each roll top chafer is labeled, so you clearly know what each dish is and if it is vegetarian or non-veggie, which is extremely helpful if youre eating with people who have dietary restrictions or needs. The sag paneer is really good here and the chutneys are very tasty. Lastly, with the lunch buffet, you can get through the meal within the hour without rushing. Ive also gone here with friends for dinner and ordered off the menu. The food is just as delicious and satisfying. The table service is great and the staff there are friendly and attentive. Once, after we finished with the meal and had walked out of the restaurant, our waiter called after us when he realized I left my mobile on the table. So nice! Its a great restaurant and I highly recommend it if you are new to dining out in this part of the city.

I really like the food here, the first time my boyfriend took me to this place I was skeptical but it was crowded which is always a good sign. We were seated promptly, spacious venue typical Indian decor with a lot of reds and gold. It was buffet style which was helpful because I have had Indian food before where I pretty much had to guess the menu items. Buffet makes life easier because you can see everything. We enjoyed our food immensely and ate until we were stuffed. The second time we went and figured it would be buffet style agin however it was a regular sit down dinner with menus now it was panic time. I sat there and googled all the food I was interested in to see how it looked before ordering. I love there lentil and rice which is my normal Indian staple with a samosa and naan. All in all a very pleasant experience both times, I would like to take my family here soon so they too can experience it. And for all my vegetarians, Indian food is a great option since they have a variety of non meat dishes.

Ive had "cheap" indian food - and it is NOT good. Of all the Indian places Ive eaten at, it really is a case of "you get what you pay for". For the pricing at Rasoi, for a company of 2, you can expect to pay around $30 (less actually). Thats pretty reasonable. Most good Indian places charge around $12-$15 a person. I found the food to be well flavored, well spiced. Not too spicy - but spicier and more flavorful than other places Ive eaten. The nan is pretty good - and fresh! There are lots of varieties. Its also somewhat of a fusion place and theyve had some "asian/chinese" style dishes added. Those arent very good. Stick with the Indian food and youll be full and really enjoy it. The dessert stuff is good too - and again, lots of variety on different days. Definitely worth going! Friends, dates, whatever - all good.

If you are an Indian food lover this is the place for you to visit. All the good here is fresh and delicious. You can order it mild or really spicy depending on your preference. I ordered the lamb curry and my girlfriend and friend had the chili chicken dish. The brought out rice and fresh bread out with the meal as well. The bread was very tasty, probably one of their signature side dishes. We also had these vegetarian/ potato dumplings in which my friends loved and I thought were okay. Parking is a pain since its on a busy part of Newark ave. Pricing of most of the entrees is very fair and service was great. This place is definitely popular since their were quite a few families and couples here. Overall, I would recommend this place and you will not be disappointed. Be patient with delivery waits as a warning.

My husband and I walked up and down the block, peeking into each restaurant until we found the busiest one, Rasoi. (Most restaurants on the block were empty and this place was packed). So...We went in. It was a Saturday evening and we ordered to go. The wait time was far. The staff was friendly. The food was still warm a half hour later when we arrived home. The average person would enjoy the food, but weve had better. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Rutan Josh (not sure on spelling). We requested extra spicy. (I recommend everyone get spicy or extra spicy. It elevated the food). We both would give the food a 3.5, but staring system doesnt allow it. If we were in the area again, we wud probably try another restaurant just to see if there was something better, but this was good place to start.

After two decades of eating at Rasoi, they have lost my family, friends and I as a customer, Fathers day dinner with my family was a VERY BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Not only was my intelligence insuted, the food was small and the service was lousy. It stated off with the waiter taking our orders and neglecting the third party because he thinks one order can feed three people, next it was the fact that they decided what was appetizer and what was meal, as if we cannot read a menu or have to go back to basic reading skills. Well we were annoyed, but being hungry, we eat and duly left a .25 cents TIP. To Ensure Prompt Service. I would not be eating there for a while, though, I like Indian food, I am paying, I am not begging for them to feed me, so you know what, Adios.

Visited this place for a lunch buffet, being a vegetarian I felt that I had huge spread of Indian food. They have a live pani puri counter which was really good along with pav bhaji, chole batura. Vada + Sambar was good Veg curries was just ok. Felt the gravy was the same for all but with different veggies. Unfortunately they do not have a rice item in veg except white rice (They have chicken biryani though). Veg noodles was available but felt that it was not really fresh and hot They had 3 different desserts which was really good Price was moderate. Non vegetarians might enjoy as they have a lot of non veg curries, starters, curries, Biryani + all veg items for the same price

Fantastic Indian restaurant and a Personal favorite. The food is authentic (according to my Indian friend) and simply delicious. Tons of dishes to choose from. Plenty appetizers and yummy desserts. They even offer Rose milk, which is to die for. The staff is super friendly, professional and attentive. They also offer buffet. This place delivers and reservations can be made. Most times they play nice and authentic music, not too loud, just nicely in the background, and the whole ambiance is very authentic and inviting. Great place for gatherings, such as family dinners, etc. And the prices are pretty good too. Definitely a must try!

I am giving a star just because there is nothing lesser than that. I went to the lunch buffet with my friends at rasoi jersey city on 30,august,2015. The food was pathetic on freshness front. The moment we tasted certain dishes, we straight away knew that the food was not fresh and infact very old. All was well until evening when we were struck by food poisoning. Not just me, all of us who ate at this place had the same problem. I am a medical doctor and I think I am pretty sure as to what caused me this problem. Its Rasois bland and multiple times re-heated dishes. Just avoid it if you want to avoid falling sick.
