AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU LIKE FOREIGN OBJECTS IN YOUR FOOD, HAIR IN YOUR FOOD, AND SLOW SERVICE. Worst experience ever. We went to the place with a bunch of coworkers for a good-bye party. We were sat outside on their "deck" and were completely forgotten about. It took about 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and just take our drink orders. Drinks probably took another 20 minutes to come out and when we ordered the strawberry lemonade, they said they were "OUT". So they brought us regular lemonades. The color gradient of each drink was incredibly different. Each one was a different color and there was no consistency. The drinks they brought out also had what looked like maple syrup all around the outside and in the water itself. We asked to send these back. We then asked to order our food after an hour of waiting there. The waitress was very unkind, and quiet rude and snappy. When our salads came out, one of my coworkers found a sponge like substance IN HER SALAD. It was green, and porous. When the waitress finally came back out we showed it to her, and all she did was grab it from us roll her eyes and she went back inside. She literally never came back out to apologize or nothing. Then when our food finally came out, there was a hair on the plate before the server even put it down. We asked them to take that back. Again, the waitresses were rude, and un willing to do anything/apologize for the horrible experience wed encountered this visit. There wasnt any extra sauces/syrups brought out like wed asked. The service was SO slow it literally took us over 2 hours to get out of that place. Why did you stay we ask? I have no idea. I will DEF NEVER be returning to any black bear diner nor recommending it to ANYONE in my lifetime. AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU LIKE FOREIGN OBJECTS IN YOUR FOOD, HAIR IN YOUR FOOD, AND SLOW SERVICE.

Terrible restaurant, take your money elsewhere!!! I gave this place 3 chances to get it right and every time they let me down huge. This last time was the worst. All I want are eggs with a liquid yolk and no liquid whites (known everywhere else in the world as over medium). Its not hard, I make them every single morning. The last 2 times it wasnt totally unacceptable so I simply mentioned it to the server and ate them anyway. This time there was almost as much white as there was yolk, and they served it with one of the yolks broken! Just so you know, a broken and cooked yolk is not considered "over medium" by any stretch of the imagination. So this time I sent it back. What came back (with assurance that the manager was specifically looking out for them) was way over cooked on one side, short one egg, and still had runny whites! Then, when I complained about it, we were told that we should have come back when it wasnt so busy, as if its our fault they cant hire cooks that know what theyre doing. This place is decent if you can eat anything short of being scraped up off the ground, but if you have a more particular palate like myself, stay far away. Dennys or IHOP are better than this place. Or, better yet, support local business and go to Joes Diner a block away!!!

I know that restaurants can have off days. You may get a server that is going through a family crisis so their head isnt in the game, or you may get the occasional soggy bun or serving of cold french fries, or you may have the kitchen whip up a side of egg rolls when you specifically ordered a steak. Things happen. Black Bear Diner has consistently let me down in one or more ways EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Of the half dozen times Ive been to the Orem location there has not been one time where things went smoothly and I thought, "That was a great experience and an excellent decision on my part." Things to consider before deciding to go to Black Bear Diner: - Do you have 60 - 90 mins of free time? - Do you like walking around to find a server? - Do you enjoy asking for something more than 3 times? - Are you OK with standing in line for 20 min while the two people in front of you pay? If you answered no to any of these questions, then you should probably look elsewhere for sustenance. Black Bear Diner is not for you. If you answered yes to ALL of these questions, you should probably look into buying a Black Bear Diner franchise so you can be surrounded by all your sick fantasies on a consistent basis. P.s.- The country style potatoes arent bad.

Amazing service. Great food. My wife and I came in tonight to get some Tri tip. we both ordered and a few minutes later, the manager came out and said that unfortunately they were out of tri tip. my wife ordered a salad, and I ordered a chicken pot pie. moments later our waiter said that they were out of that as well, i (admittedly with a bit of attitude) asked if they had the fish and chips in stock.. the manager came back out and apologized for the inconvenience and comped the meal. i felt bad about being smart with the waiter and i was going to leave him a good tip for being rude to him, he was very helpful and provided good service inspite of taking the heat that wasnt his to take of an annoyed guest. I didnt have cash to leave on the table, si i got the bright idea to order a desert separate and tip for that. but he included it with the meal. So i asked to speak with the manager, and i was able to tip with my visa. the point is, amazing food aside, they are very concerned with the dining experience at their establishment. Thank you Mark for handling that dilemma and Shawn is Extremely good under pressure. Im not disappointed about the diner running out of tri tip because I know we will be in again very soon.

Today I decided to give black bear in Orem a chance since the first time I went several months ago was not all that great the first time the vegetables were hard definitely undercooked and they had way too many jalapenos on the nachos and I could not eat them we had ordered several different things to try them out since it was our first time today was our second time going just to give them one more shot and it ended up being the very last we ordered the chicken fried steak corn on the cob and country gravy the plates came out and the gravy was very cold we mentioned it to the waitress she took the plates back they didnt even make fresh plates so Im not sure exactly what they did but she brought the plates back and the gravy was warm however the chicken-fried steak was extremely greasy almost like they didnt have the grease hot enough as they put it into the pan this place was a mess its my birthday and all I wanted was a good home-cooked warm mail so much for that Im back home and glad that I didnt have to pay for the food I would not even bother with black bear at either American Fork or Orem location they both are just terrible!

The food is great which is the only reason I come here. Although Ive only been twice, and the service was horrific both times. We were not greeted upon arrival, only stared at until I said, "um... we have two?" We were then sat by the host and were not again acknowledged for about ten minutes until our waitress yelled at the host to bring us some drinks. After we received that, our order was taken. I ordered the volcano but when my food was brought out, I did not receive everything that was promised on the menu, but I still paid full price. But the worst part of the night was the busser... he kept lingering around our table, and WINKING at my friend who i was with. He later came up to our table while we were still eating and asked her for her name on which she felt uncomfortable enough to give a fake name. He then said aggressively, "I like you jamie." And continued to linger and wink and smirk the rest of the night although it was clear we were uncomfortable. As we were walking to the car, we saw him follow us outside as we sped out of the parking lot. This experience was a joke and I do not feel comfortable returning.
