I will never go to a chain restaurant for breakfast in Provo again as long as Nates Diner is open. This is THE place for comfort food and it is all about having a historic local dining experience. Everything about Nates is personal, unique, and in line with the rising American ideal to re-embrace a way of life that supports local businesses. Unlike many chain stores Nates has a customer base of regulars who add to the atmosphere and let you know you are in the right place whether you are visiting from out of town and want a taste of local as part of your dining experience or if you are a resident who believes in growing and supporting a robust local economy with your hard earned dollar. As a bonus, Nates is priced in a range that is more than fair and the servers are both hardworking and personable. Pay with cash only--like the old days and dont miss out!

I use to love this place in the morning they attend you every quickly and there so friendly, but after today in the afternoon I had to sit and wait for over 10mins as the waitress just stood and talked with the other customers, she knew I was there and she went back and forth and just completely ignored me and then the other customers said to tell them I want service and I had to go and pick up my own menu and the waitress saw me and sent someone else to help me, I have to say this was the worst service I have ever had. They were not friendly they didnt attend me and it wasnt even a busy day, this was very disappointing it was my lunch time and I missed it by being here, I have to say I wont be coming back for lunch again, and I even question if Ill come back for breakfast.

Walking in, I felt a wave of nostalgia. While some might say the interior should be updated, I think it is charmingly reminiscent of a family diner in the boonies in the nineties. It was quaint, but no one was there ironically. Just a few salt-of-the-earth, coffee-drinking Americans eating soul food. And the FOOD. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was one of the best bacon cheeseburgers I have ever had EVER. I withheld the fifth star because the fries were overdone to the point of being inedible.

This is a hidden Provo Gem. The people who work here are very friendly. The service is fast and personal. Our waitress even brought out a cute little baby and let us meet him. The food was good - omlettes were better than the French toast. Hashbrowns were good too. Wish they gave butter instead of margarine.

We had the Blue cheese and bacon burger and also the pepper cheese steak sandwich. Both were very good, but I would say the cheese steak is what they do best. I have had better burgers but man was that a good cheese steak! Good price also at $7.45. Loved the Jalapeño sauce :)

The food was very good and tasted home made rather than restaurant-like. The atmosphere was "greasy-spoon" but the food was so good and the staff so friendly that I didnt care. I left a large tip because the food was so good but the price was so reasonable.

It was okay.. but the food, environment, and prices tell a tale of a diner that hasnt changed in 20 or so years, slowly raising prices out of necessity while quality stagnates or declines. Would not recommend

I drove all the way out to this place just to avoid going to another Dennys and then on the front door I found out they dont accept debit or credit cards. What year is this?!

Folks were friendly. Wifey had waffle and egg special which was fine. I had bacon and cheese omlet. Hashbrowns were a bit greasy, but i did eat it all. Coffee was fresh.
