A lot of people participate in dine LA restaurant week which will end pretty soon and Im one of them. Café Pinot caught my attention on the official dine LA page from fair prices to variety of selections so I went ahead and booked the reservation almost in an instant. I was surprised how the place wasnt that pack at all... We got an outdoor table which located in the back next to the library. Its very nice having dinner outside when the its not as hot as noon time. I was enjoying the scene so much until a tiny fly went into my water glass... We were there for the dine LA right? But we both decided to get dishes off the regular menu instead, duh. We both ordered the fish. My friend had Stipe Bass* while I had East Coast Halibut* and we got mixed green salad to share as well. Salad was tasty with some crushed black pepper. Both of our dishes looking very delicious. My halibut was a little bit overcooked. I was expecting a juicy mouth watering piece of fish but I got a golden oven fried fish which was way too crispy to taught on the outside. Well, I finished it and I believed I could still eat more because the portion was so tiny like other yelpers have already mentioned. Service was very slow from taking order to getting the check. Valet parking $6*

This was my 1st time at cafe pinot, to visit with family. The food was delicious, a little on the high end of pricing but good. My 5 yr old daughter raved about her butter pasta. We had soup appetizers, the french onion soup was super delicious, for entrees we had the lamb shank, the pork belly, halibut and the grain dish. We were all very happy with our food. The atmosphere is a slow pace dining, and very quiet, at first, but my family is very loud, so pretty soon we were having a good time. The service was very good, and very knowledgeable about the menu. I would visit again, if I can.

We always ordered the same 3 dishes because they were the only 3 that were ok from the list. We soon became tired of it and ordered from the actual menu... Wow its a lot more expensive than what I expected. I however did not enjoy everything that we ordered because it was too salty and the service was very slow. I do have to say that the server was very polite even though he was a little slow... But that could be the kitchens fault. Ill probably come back here again and wanted to give them one more chance

First of all, we had terrible service and the food is way overpriced for their mediocre food. Cashier had no idea how much extra salmon cost on a salad. When we asked her to ask someone else she gave us attitude. The pizza dough was chewy and the sauce was bland. Skimpy on the meat and cheese toppings. Ive eaten pizza in Italy, New York, Chicago and New Haven so I know good vs bad pizza. The salad was disgusting. Greens werent fresh and the salmon portion laughable. I will never eat here again

Café Pinot restaurant is a real gem and an asset to the neighborhood. The menu is on the smaller side but has everything from tater tots to lovely salads. The wine list and beer selections are quite excellent. This is the perfect spot to meet for a happy hour, date night, or to catch up with friends over dinner. Between the friendly staff and the delicious food, I cant wait to come back!!

its a lovely property but they often have problems respecting or finding reservations. once seated, its a very pleasant dining experience. but beware of parking at lunch time. validation is only for 2 hours and parking can be a shock if the max is exceeded. restaurant should alert diners to the obscene parking charges that await the unwary.

Outstanding food in exceptionally beautiful setting, on the grounds of the library, surrounded by trees and fountain, but enclosed by a majestic downtown setting! Service can be slow, so if youre going to the theater, be sure you reserve for an earlier hour than you think youll need, and then just enjoy the slow, relaxed pace!

This is a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. However, the food does not live up to the atmosphere nor the expensive price. In my dish, the chef added several unique herbs and spices, but in the end, the flavors didnt go well together... not enough to create something that felt like a work of art...

It took an hour and a half to get our food. The waiter blammed it on the fact that they were also hosting a wedding. THey should have hired more help for the evening. The ahi was supposed to be seared and it was cooked all the way through and dry. We were late to our show. Aweful experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food is amazing and the service is top notch. This is more of a traditional kind of french place so the food will take longer to come out than what most people are used to. The wine selection could use a little more work but over all a great place. Make reservations, you might need them!

This place used to be one of my favorite Californian restaurants in the city - but alas this place has gone downhill in a big way! The star of the menu - the rotiseerie chicken - was dry and flavorless. The Atlantic salmon smelled of salmon (!!) that is laid on a bed of mushy olives - eww!

My friend was refused service because she was dressed in her work clothes. How sad to say that people have to respect nor customer service. I only have you 1 star so I can post this. NOT worth it. THAT was more like Discrimination!!

Came here without a reservation and ate at the bar. I was a little disappointed because Id wanted to come here for a while and the food did not stand up to the hype. It definitely had the upscale snooty atmosphere that I expected.

The food was delicious. It was fresh, flavorful and healthy. I visited the place twice and Im always impressed. The staff was kind and very helpful. I will be back soon. I will recommend this place for sure.

Time has not been kind to this former top dog of downtown. The menu has become eclectic to a fault, and the service has become a bit stodgy and slooowww. Dont go before your show, youll miss the curtain.

Food tasted great until I noticed that my sandwich bread was covered in mold. I was disgusted. They graciously took that entree off the check but still charged us for everything else full price.

The ambiance was lovely and the food was delicious, but what made my meal outstanding is how the waitstaff were superb -- anticipating my needs before I asked. A wonderful experience. Thank you!

On the surface, its a great location to eat (downtown, outside). However, the speed of service (middle of the week, middle of the day) and quality of the food left much to be desired.
