I like Miltons quite well. Most of my reviews focus on guiding the readers expectations; for if you expect a Jag and rent a Chrysler, youre going to be disappointed; if you expect a Chrysler but have to pay for a Jag, youre going to be disappointed. So many reviews, good or bad, make categorical assertions about the thing or the place without acknowledging what the place is there for, or what its trying to do. All that having been said, lets go to Miltons. They arent going to produce any kind of overly-ambitious or gourmet cuisine, or a sophisticated wine list 10 pages long, and the cocktails are cheap but also pretty ham-handed concoctions. In other words, dont go here expecting to find duck confit, or to have pretentious comments about the wine appreciated by the wait staff. Wrong place; wrong expectation. What it IS, however, is really tasty, well-executed, mostly cozy down-home Italian food, with relatively inexpensive but well-chosen table wines, and a friendly atmosphere. You can read the managements objectives like a book, and what they do, they do very well. Its not the cheapest, but its about the best value you can get for extremely high-quality food, good service, and a very laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere. Weve gone there with and without the kids, and both end up being solid experiences. Within the scope of the market niche Miltons is aiming for, it is, in my opinion, wildly successful. Keep the prices reasonable, keep the humble but solid wines and drinks flowing, and keep drilling the host and wait staff on a positive and family-friendly attitude and prompt service, and Miltons will continue to be an unshakeable North Raleigh institution. And, in terms of first-hand experience, consider that we have gone to Miltons ourselves, with our (young) kids, family and friends, perhaps two dozen times over the last 12 years, and have yet to be disappointed with a single meal, in terms of either food, service, or price. Coming from a foodie, amateur wine snob, and self-professed connoisseur of the dining experience, you may take that statement for what it is!

I am moving to the area and the first process of moving is to find a local pizza place for those dull Saturday nights with nothing to do. So, my son and I slipped into Miltons to give it a shot and see what we could see. First, the staff. The young lady in the back rushes out to make sure we are seated quickly and lets us know our waitress is on her way. As if planned, our waitress turns the corner and rolls up on us with fantastic smile and bubbly personality that just puts you right at ease. The manager paid us a most memorable visit to let us know that we were welcome there anytime. The food. We were only there to sample the pizza because, having lived all over the country, pizza is the cornerstone of any good diet and it had to be great! So we sampled the pizza and these cute puffy balls of garlic and olive oil that we could only describe as garlic knots without the knots. The garlic balls? Faaahhreaking amazing! Just about the best thing Ive ever had and my son literally got to eat one as I pounded the rest! The pizza, you ask? Look, Ive tried and sampled many pizza joints and they are all the same...except this one! This pizza was, and I mean this with total honesty and sincerity to you, the absolute best pizza Ive ever had in my life. I mean it, and Ive lived in New York people! Seriously, it truly doesnt get better. The cheese was soft and not greasy and the meats were great and Miltons own sausage was top notch. Overall, Id give this place 6 stars if I could. From the outside, it looks just like any other pizza joint. On the inside, it looks sort of like any other pizza joint with a bar and a lot of seats. But its whats inside that counts. The food was fantastic, the staff was amazing and very on the ball (and cute!) and I never had an empty glass! Do yourself a favor, give them a shot. You will not be disappointed.

It was gross. We had a female put her finger in the food. As well as one of cooks. At food buffet area. the management gets angry at complaints. The female employees are only nice to male customers. At the table. We have had female amp;oyes walk away from us. To talk to their male employees. And not come back. And not come back. The female hostess not want to wait on female tables. They have to ask them to wait on female customers. The female waitresses said to female tables. Not want to wait on them anymore. They would rather wait on male tables, give food and run away quickly, repeat the same questions, yell and interrupt, not want to wait on female tables. And have to go find them. Tao back rude, rush to get rid of them, yell and interrupt, give wrong orders and not do anything about it, give food and drink and try to run away fast. And the cashiers are just as rude. Talk back rude, wait on male and females at the same time and only talk to the males, and walk away from the females in middle of wait on them. And not volunteer to wait on them at all when paying.

This place is awesome!!! We went there for the first time on Sunday around 1 for the lunch buffet. The selection was great! Not only do they have delicious pasta and pizza varieties, they also have fresh vegetables. Try the lasagna with a side of roasted zucchini. There wasnt ONE thing we put in our mouth that wasnt deliciously prepared and flavored! The pizza is the best! Like no other! My wife said it was in the sauce... I agreed but then added that it was also in the quality cheese, the crust, and the toppings. The salad bar also had great variety- its not everyday you see golden raisins on the bar. But dont stop there! The desert bar is just around the side. Covered in delicious variety of high quality sweets. I could go on all day. This place is perfect for everyone in the family and even your friends (the kids, the teens, the adults, even the vegetarians leave happy and full). Something for everyone. The quality of the food is phenomenal. The variety is phenomenal. The staff is phenomenal. The price is phenomenal! You MUST visit Miltons! Come hungry!

The service was god awful. The server had the personality of a styrofoam cup. I asked her if the gluten free pizza crust was fresh or frozen. She said "I think its fresh" cluelessly, which is a pretty dead giveaway that its frozen. I almost felt like I had to apologize for asking such a painful question. She spilled the soda refills on the table three separate times said, "sorry about that" and left us at the table to clean it up. Obviously, with the gluten free pizza crust being frozen, it was small, tasted like wallpaper paste, and put me back almost $14 for something I could get for $7 at whole foods. My wifes stromboli little to no toppings in it, and set her back $12.95. $33 got us an empty stromboli, a frozen microwave pizza, and a splash zone around two soft drinks. If you want good quality gluten free, theres Firebirds, or Bella Monica. If you want real pizza or strombolis, theres Ginos Pizza off of Glenwood Ave for a fraction of the price. Plus in both cases, the service (and food) is miles ahead of this place.
