Dont you love the feeling you get, when you can actually go and eat at a place that you have bookmarked on Yelp for so long? I do! Finally! I finally went and ate here at Pitchoun Bakery! I love Downtown LA and love that all these places are opening up but I HATE the TRAFFIC and hate PARKING. Since there are all these place in downtown I want to eat at, I have to suck it up. Lol! With that being said, I parked bellow Pershing Square, $2 per every 15 min, $16 for all day parking! Yeah pretty steep! Pitchoun is actually located across the street from Pershing Square. I love that it had outside seating. They have these vibrant orange table and chairs outside. You walk inside and their are abundance of goodies!! Pastries, muffins, quiches, Kouign Amann and so many other! Too many to mention! I was drooling already! There are also many places to sit inside. The place has a nice ambiance and very cozy! We decided to sit outside next to the fake fireplace. Thank goodness I came with a friend so this way I can get to taste more goodies. We decided to get a quiche, the almond croissant, strawberry tart, toast with ham and brie and a Kouign amann. I also got a medium latte and she got a machiatto. That medium latte was huge!! It was such a great portion for $4! Im telling you it was a bowl! The latte was so good! The quiche was so cheesy and savory! Yum! A must try! The almond croissant was also delicious! I see why so many are racing about it! My ultimate favorite was the Koughn Amann!!! So flaky and buttery!! It all went so well with my latte! Im not a huge fan of Brie so that toast was my least favorite. You really have to try this place!! So many great pastries and the ambiance is nice!

I have to say that, pretentious as this place may feel upon walking in, the pastries are so damn good, the people here have a right to be a bit snobbish. Uptight as my server(s) may have been, everything they recommended was downright delicious, and each individual pastry was a jewel to behold. I only wish they werent so pushy in getting you to choose. Such important life decisions take time. Sweet, savory, or somewhere in between, the pastry case holds some of the most high-quality French delicacies this side of the pond. From colorful tarts, hearty scones, sweet & fluffy beignets stuffed with raspberry or hazelnut cream, flaky kouign-amann, hefty brioche, & a flurry of other sweet stuff, your sweet tooth will not be disappointed here. If youre not feeling the sweets, they also sell- as well as cater- hearty, colorful sandwiches of every description, baguettes that come in several different varieties, and even small pizza squares that are perfectly portioned for one person. The menu isnt simply limited to that; the thing is so huge, it takes up part of an entire wall. And if youre in a rush, they also have refrigerated beverages and ready-to-eat food in a small refrigerated section next to the registers. Obviously, this being such a fancy cafe, you can expect to find an enormous number of drinks, mainly focusing on coffee & tea, but also serving up a little something to satisfy any palate. Given all that, the service doesnt even matter, really.

Nice decor (including a cozy fireplace, nice little touches at each table, the overall French/European ambiance of the place), fast service and delicious, fresh-tasting food! Conveniently located at Pershing Square in Downtown LA this little bakery with spacious outdoor sitting is a great place to start the day off right. I visited on a Monday morning and I saw a decent number of customers enjoying the place for breakfast and morning meetings. The Parisian omelette was outstanding with just the right amount of seasoning, the Kouign Amann (Breton cake) was nice, flaky and not too sweet. Only one category couldnt live up to my expectations and that was the coffee :( Im such a huge fan of a nice espresso and what I got at Pitchoun was a way too bitter, over-extracted shot served in a cracked espresso cup on a chipped saucer :( Nevertheless, I would still recommend that place and next time I visit I hope my coffee will be on par with the delicious food options served there!

So first: the food and the ambiance. Pitchoun feels like an oasis in the DTLA area, and its one of my spots to recover from a visit to the library or the museum. During the Grand Performances, I come in a little early, grab a coffee and then walk over to the concerts. While I do my best to avoid sweets, Pitchoun tends to wear away my inhibitions, and with good reason. Their waffles, served with fruits and a delicate storm of powdered sugar, are sublime. I ordered - loved the - apricot tarte fine the last time I was there. The palmiers make for great to-go breakfast items, as do the macarons. In short, a wonderful DTLA spot, well worth a visit if you are in the area. $5 parking in the same building on weekdays, which is a better deal than anyplace else in the area.

We were greeted with a friendly, welcoming man (not so at awful Bottega Louis, definitely skip them) and a wonderful array of french breads or all sorts (I wanted it all!). The food was extraordinary. My savory sausages were so delicious. My friend had a tartine that he kept moaning over (he kept that up the whole sandwich dammit, says he couldnt help it). We were staying at the Ritz Carleton and their expensive food held no candle to Pitchoun. Anyway you cant miss with this great place.

This place is delicious! I love the atmosphere, inside and out, plus the food is absolutely fresh and flavorful. I was in the mood for some eggs and they had a Parisian Omelet that had spinach, ham, and swiss cheese that melts in your mouth. And its a hearty portion too. :-) The chocolate croissant tasted good, I just wish the chocolate inside was spread out more instead of 1 tiny strip in the middle. Overall not bad. If youre in DTLA, you should definitely stop by! :-)

Had lunch at Pitchoun once and it was delicious. The atmosphere is great. I also bought a loaf of bread to take home and its probably their best kept secret. I wish they had loans of bread daily. Several times, though, I caught myself making a detour downtown just to take home a loaf of sourdough bread and walked out empty handed. They stack a bunch of baguette but rarely loafs. Thats the reason for my 3 stars. I would call this place Pitchoun Patisserie and Café... not bakery.

I have been here many times since it has opened. It is outstanding and being a first generation American of a European family, I can tell you this place is authentic. I met the owner, they import their butter from France and boy, it makes a huge difference in the baked goods. Plus, there is nothing like a french ham sandwich with brie and butter (from France). mmmmmmm good. They also have the best almond croissant in Los Angeles, and the best coffee in town!
