Worst choice weve made in a very long time. We are still trying to figure out a reason for this restaurant to exist. Much less receive attention from the New York Times & Zagat. Pleasurable atmosphere? NO, dismal location, depressing on the outside, almost as bad inside (they didnt try very hard). Skilled kitchen? Conversation a couple of times came to a halt after staff dropped large things on the floor. Fabulous food that is seriously over priced? Well, the salad was attractive but forgettable, the pork (just a small piece of meat, nothing else) was very common, with a thin sause (but not much of it to get bored with), the desert was possibly nice but so incredibly small that we could hardly get our taste buds adjusted to decide. The wine list? The stuff that I recognized was marked up 5 to 6 times and the presentation is: "Over there along the wall, you can go and look". There are lots of crazy expensive restaurants from L.A. to Santa Barbara that give some value for all that high cost, why would you waste your money and time on this looser? I notice from other reviews that most who liked it ate a sandwitch. How does that work when they are not open for lunch?

Very impressed with this strip mall eatery. Service was very good. The waiter was a bit unsure of a few things in regards to the wine and cheeses. The lamb was gristly. The almond gazpacho, octopus, and halibut were excellent. I didnt like how smoky it got inside--the kitchen is open to the dining room. Its very quaint and intimate. It was quiet at 7 PM but started filling up by 8:30 PM. Decor reminds me of a French bistro. The menus printed on notebook paper were cute. The menu selection is very small but well-rounded. Parking is tough. The lot is small. We parked on the street after trying for 10 minutes.

Excellent quality food - onion soup, foiegras terrine and orange chicken were exceptional. Burger was ok for me. Very cozy and intimate but bar stools not very comfortable. Also the whole "18% service charge but its not a tip" and the mandatory $7 valet even if you self park right outside just seem unnecessary given the high prices of the menu. Waitress was great.

Some people might be tempted to overlook this place due to their location. And that would be a mistake. My friend and I had a wonderful dining experience here. Their dishes were well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. Great customer service. All in all, a great dining experience.

I love Papilles. Been there countless times! The camembert is my favourite, but everything else looks delicious. Oysters are fresh. Croissants are the best Ive had in Berlin so far. Staff knows what they are talking about. Deco is minimal (love the empty frames). Amazing attention to detail in general. I love Papilles!

Delicious delicious delicious cant tell you how much I enjoyed our meal. Cute little place and great service!!! We had a great drink to start. We also had delicious prosciutto, escargot, salad and croque madame (to die for). I cant wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. Highly recommend this place!!!

Exceeded expectations by so much. The menu is short and sweet, as it is with all French style menus. They have a great salad or other vegetable-based starter. The chef is very creative with often out of the ordinary ingredients, and surprises your tastebuds. They accommodate for some dietary requirements.

Waiters seemed angry, he was pissed off because we accidentally made two reservation on open table. Also it says on the website it opens at 5:30 pm, we arrived at 5:50 pm they didnt let us in, our reservation was at 6:00 pm ... But the food was okay.

This is one of the best places I visited in LA. From the outside it might not look like much but on the inside its a true gem. Great friendly staff, EXCELLENT food and wine, it is a restaurant where you get a lot for your money! So, dont miss out!

The strip mall exterior is deceiving, but the interior is cute and welcoming. Food was phenomenal - I would come back just to have chicken liver mousse and the butterscotch pot de creme. Super delicious and definitely worth a visit!

An incredible surprise. Unglamorous location in a tiny strip mall by the 101 onramp, okay, but all of that is rendered null and void by stunningly great french cuisine. Youll feel like youre in a bistro in Provence.

Steak wasnt good and not medium rare as ordered and the rest of the courses werent special either. Not served in a nice way - plates were dirty. Waiter was cocky, loud and looking for attention which was annoying.

Definitely my favorite place for a bistro style prix fixe meal. Papilles is located in the Hollywood Hills right behind the Capitol Records building. Very casual ambience (it was previously a pizza parlor).
