Hot french waiters, hot french food, hot french everything. Just celebrated a girlfriends birthday here and it was PERFECT from start to finish. The place feels intimate, genuine, and makes you yearn to be walking the streets of Paris at night. It just FEELS good to be there, and it transports you away from the hustle and bustle of LA living. Its dim, but not dark. Cozy, chic but not pretentious, and all the staff have legit made-in-france accents that somehow just make everything that tad bit more suave for a girls night out kind of dinner. We walked in and Mathias greeted us kindly and said how lovely we looked to be all decked out for dinner, and how very "euro" that was for us. Signs of a great night to be had. We started off with the endive and roquefort salad, which was great. The dressing was a dijon-base, and not too sweet/vinagrette-like, and totally complimented the endives. Then we moved onto the wine. We shared a delightful Shiraz ($29; corkage is $15 if you bring your own) which everyone LOVED. I list the wine as a separate entree, since our wonderful and generous waiters were heavy handed in the pours and opened up another bottle on the house to keep our girly giggles going and the night carefree and happy. Talk about service! If a frenchman winks and pours you free wine, while saying anything in french, you dont complain! For our real entrees, and the main reason this fantastic little gem is a 5 star in my book, our table tried: -Rack of Lamb (Carre DAgneau) in a mustard sauce. Delightful. Not too gamey, and very well cooked to a perfect medium. Great seasoning. -Filet Mignon (Pave de Boeuf) in a port sauce and roquefort cheese: wonderful sauce. Meat so tender, and perfectly cooked medium rare. -Halibut in a champagne sauce with a parmesean crust: light, tender, well cooked. Sauce was sweet but not overpowering. Mashed potatoes were perfect. -Special fish in a cilantro sauce: Delightful and different from the halibut. The plate was covered in the delicious sauce. Every single person loved each and every dish. That is a sign of a great restaurant. And by the time we were moving onto desserts, our lovely french waiters poured us some fantastic desert wines, and gave us desserts on the house for the birthday girl. They even threw in a candle. I normally dont like desserts or sweets, but the tarte tatin (think apple tart) was MIND-BLOWINGLY awesome. Just DIVINE. words cannot describe how good this dessert is. It was by far my favorite dish of the night, on a night full of fantastic foods! The creme caramel was also thick but not dense, creamy and perfect. The creme brulee was also fantastic, and light. With each course, I longed to be a regular here, so these lovely frenchmen could make me feel this welcomed and special everytime I came here. it was like coming home to your village, and receiving a rousing welcome and a grand feast just for you. each of my girlfriends left feeling like this night was one in a million, and fearing that we would not have another like it for a very long time. How often can you say that about your random sunday dinner? Thats right,.... get here, fast!

I never thought to go to Eagle Rock for amazing French food, but after a recommendation from another yelper James S., I had to check this place out. I brought my dad and brother for a belated family birthday celebration for both my brother and I. I must say that Im definitely a fan and will be back again in the near future to Cafe Beaujolais. There are plenty of street parking even on a Saturday night. They dont have valet parking. I tried to call ahead for a reservation and learned that they dont do reservations on Fridays and Saturdays. I arrived at 6:45pm and was told that the wait would be 20 minutes. We were seated 2 minutes later. All the staff speak French to each other...a great sign that youre getting seriously authentic food. The place is small and dimly lit. Its definitely not quiet though. There were a lot of hearty conversations going on. Patrons take a long time to dine the traditional French style so dont come here if you are in a hurry. They have this 3 Monts beer directly imported from France. Its seriously good beer. My dad and brother went through 2 large bottles and my dad even took a picture of it so he can remember to order it in the future. Their entire wine list consist of French wines. Most selections are reasonably priced at less than $10 a glass. They do charge a $15 corkage fee if you bring your own. I had the Bordeaux Merlot and loved it. My dad had the French onion soup and really enjoyed it. It was extremely cheesy. We also shared an order of escargot. It was delicious and only $9. The garlic, butter, and herb mixture that they have with the escargot is great for dipping your bread in. For entrees, we had the Maitre DHotel steak (basically steak and fries), seafood pasta, and the lamb chops. The lamb chops was highly recommended by the waiter and by far my favorite entree out of the three. The seafood pasta was also delicious. The steak and fries were pretty good and the portion was huge. All entrees including steaks are under $25. They have about 6 types of French desserts at a little under $7 each. We didnt get too adventurous and had the creme brulee. It was delicious and a great way to end the meal. I will try the Profiteroles or the Tarte Tartin next time.

I took my husband here for our anniversary and it was GREAT! The Food was cooked perfectly, the staff was very, very attentative. Our glasses were half full, and they would fill it up, our bread basket was half full, and theyd quickly fill it up. I have no complaints about this place at all. From outside, it doesnt look like much. Its a big black door connected to a small front entrance, as soon as you open the door, a French Man, greets you. You are taken into another dimension. You think youre in America, and within a few short steps, you travel to France for an experience you will never forget. All the waiters speak French, and English of course, it feels so unreal and like a dream. Its a little pricey, totally worth every penny though.

Staff was snotty and extremely rude. Repeated are order back to us correctly and then proceeded to bring us extra food that we had not order and insisted that we did. The appetizer that we ordered was supposed to have shrimp and scallops in it. We only found a few pieces of chopped up seafood and the dish was very salty. The rest of the food that we ordered was like the appetizer small portion of food that did not taste fresh. In addition, just like the appetizer, lots of flour, butter and salt. We have been coming here for a long time and have seen the quality go down since it was sold. Horrible place. Very disappointing and we will not go back. Left a bad taste in our mouth.

I went last Wednesday. I ordered the escargot, lamb chops, and halibut. The escargot was delicious. Butter and garlic sauce with super soft escargot. The bread is never ending and service is great. So, they make sure they replenish your bread basket for the butter, garlic sauce. The lamb chops are great. Theyre tender with a great mustard sauce. Fresh mustard sauce. It cuts through any pungent lamb flavors. The halibut was interesting. I am not sure what was on the top but it tastes like a melted cheese on top of halibut. It came with mashed potatoes which wasnt phenomenal but potatoes rarely are. I love that they have crayons on the table. Crayons are fun no matter what age.
