My husband and I enjoy the hibachi experience and have visited several such places, mostly good, some better than others. After seeing good reviews we decided to try Ginza while we were away in Charles Town. Big mistake. This place ranks at the very bottom of our list. The experience seems typical at first, but we quickly realized Ginza was...different. The salad and miso soup came right out as normal...except the miso soup was beef broth with some mushrooms and such tossed in to look like miso...and Im a vegetarian. Not cool but not the end of the world. Then the chef set the grill on fire and made his volcano and all that jazz...all your typical hibachi tricks. Then it was time to fry the rice. Ive never seen it done this way before. Instead of heaps of oil and soy sauce, it was heaps of butter and yum yum sauce. I felt sick just watching. But, I figured we were on vacation and unhealthy is often tasty so I took a bite....it was tasteless .....and crunchy. AWFUL texture. My husband and I BOTH ordered hibachi vegetables. We didnt straight out say "hey, were vegetarian" but, weve never had to. The remaining 3 people at our table ordered steak and shrimp, which the chef prepared first. But, this is where enough was enough. He cooks the steak and shrimp, serves it to our neighbors, then takes the filthy spatula dripping with fat and blood, puts it on our vegetables, then moves them from the clean, undisturbed portion of the grill right into the meat juices. I audibly groaned at this point but it wasnt noticed. At this point I was starving so I forced myself to eat what I could (which wasnt great to begin with), paid the tab, and tipped well. I didnt want anything but to talk to someone without causing a scene and leave. I asked for a manager, explained the situation and that I didnt want anything but to make her aware for the future....and she immediately put the blame on me for not blatantly saying "Im a vegetarian" despite nearly half of our table ordering ONLY VEGETABLES for dinner. no apology, no empathy, just a nonchalant "you should have told them right away." Unbelievable. If you have any type of food allergy or dietary preference, expect this place to be inconsiderate and be sure to draw attention to yourself if you do need accommodation. If you dont, expect lackluster food in comparison to a typical hibachi experience. Either way, Im clueless as to how this place has such good reviews.

First, Id like to say that my husband and I have been here many times and have really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, I do not give Ginza 1 star for the food or atmosphere. I am giving 1 star for the service. A few weeks ago I took my husband to Ginza for lunch for his birthday. We had a coupon from the Val Pack that read "Save Your Receipts-From June through August after combined purchases of $120.00 or more, receive a $25.00 Gift Certificate". We had actually spent a little over $130.00 during the time frame. When I gave the server the coupon, I was rudely informed that the purchases must be made on "dinner" and my most recent receipt for the lunch did not qualify. I explained that it did not state this anywhere on the coupon and could she please check with the manager. The manager does not come to our table but I could see him telling the server to tell us that it does have to be dinner purchases and that Val Pack must have had a misprint. He continues to ignores our table and gets on the telephone. We were so upset that we left without trying to argue our point. On my way home I became angrier and angrier. I feel cheated out of our gift certificate. I still do not understand how spending $120.00 is different for lunch vs. dinner. In fact, you would have to make more trips to a restaurant if you are eating lunch vs. eating dinner. Buyer beware, Ginza will not honor this coupon! The sad part is I got the most recent Val Pack in the mail last week and there is THE SAME COUPON in there this month. Seems to me that this "misprint" would have been corrected.

Food seemed good overall, but the lunch special was a bit of a joke with regard to portion size. I asked to substitute the rice for extra vegetables and they did, but they charged me 4.95 for it - thats a dollar less than the lunch special itself! I came with a group from work who were excited to try something different. Everyone one of us agreed - we wont be back. No refill was offered on my drink and manager pretends to be busy as soon as we walk by on our way out. Terrible service, ok food but youll leave hungry. Lost our business on our first visit.

Usually like Ginza; however, when my daughter went to pick up their lunch special they refused to give it to her for the "lunch special" price, and insisted it was only for dine-in, when we have ordered it for delivery numerous times at work and gotten the lunch special price. The manager basically called me a liar, and said I didnt know what I was talking about because it has always been like that. Will not go to someplace as dishonest as this.

Ginza has made me a lover of Japanese hibachi cooking. Friends used to drag me to Kobe and Kanki (NC) as I was never a fan. The show was nice, but I never cared for the food. Ginza has changed that. The food is fantastic. We visit often enough that the staff treats us like family. I am not a sushi person, but have taken out of town guests with me. Each has loved the sushi, one even said that it was the best she had ever eaten.

We have only ordered off of the sushi menu and have not had the hibaci, but every time the service has been poor at best. Servers have gotten our orders wrong each time, the wait for our meal has been ridiculous, and the overall experience is extremely poor. We will NEVER go there again or reccomend it to others. They are the only game in town, so I guess they feel that service isnt that important. Food is decent, but not worth it.

Hands down, the BEST hibachi place around! Everything had its own, distinct flavor. It wasnt all just smothered in butter, oil, and sauce like usual. We didnt feel gross after our meal. Just full and happy :) The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and always smiling and our hibachi chef was fun! Definitely recommend this place! P.S. And the price was phenomenal! Most fairly priced hibachi restaurant I have ever been to!

My husband and I love the sushi here. We especially like the all you can eat special. The hibachi is great for when we have company, but we are sushi fans. I have had better but we arent in LA or Manhattan. We are in WV and it is really good sushi at reasonable prices. I have made my own and it is cheaper to have them make it for me. Service is always great. Thanks to Ginza, I dont miss Urban life.
