Located in Malvern, PA, this little franchise restaurant is a gold mine tucked in a little strip mall whos character and southern charm is so big that they have to have an outside seating area. The food was wonderful, the employees went out of their way to please us, and the story behind the business makes you want to come back again and again. I ordered the Bettes Boxed Lunch with the roast beef and provolone sandwich, on Sally Lunn bread. (Picture a hamburger bun, sheet cake style, cut in triangles.) . It comes with a deviled egg, and I chose the potato salad for my side, which was topped with a sweet pickle, and the peach "upcake" for my dessert. Washed the whole thing down with a Coca-Cola, and I was stuffed to the gills. I grew up loving PA Dutch cooking, but this southern stuff is a close second. "Momma wisely taught her daughters at an early age to learn to bake, knowing theyd need more than good looks to get them a husband". Love that!

For dinner party wanted Jumbo Lump crabcakes. Preferred to patronize a small local restaurant rather than a huge chain. Dixie Picnic has always been very pleasing. I decided to go in and ask about the crabcakes. I wanted to "see" one if possible but it was not. My concern was that they were really Jumbo Lump. I was assured they were. I ordered (12) twelve. They were made fresh for me which was wonderful and packaged up...I was on my way. Upon opening the box, though, I knew immediately that although they had lumps...they were not Jumbo Lump. There was alot of shredded crabmeat inside.They were much smaller than I hoped. In my mind I was comparing them to Wegmans...which are quite picturesque. The taste was good as described...gently seasoned. (I added Old Bay for flavor). Overall...I was disappointed.

Amazing! Food was really good and I was full after (which is hard to do). I want to go back and try their desserts and the other things on the menu! Location: Shopping Center around other businesses Staff: Friendly and quick I wasnt sitting long before my food was up! Atmosphere: Not too fancy and kinda basic but they do have outdoor seating as well as nice and comfortable seating Food: Made with no preservatives, and amazing (I had the bbq pork sandwich) Price: expect to spend around $10ish per person Overall: I will be going back to try some of there other food or maybe eat the bqq pork sandwich again

i asked for a minor change off their menu and the owner went into the back and made multiple nasty comments about me. even the waitstaff apologized for his behavior to me. When I asked him why he embarrassed me with his mean comments he denied he said anything. I reminded him of what I heard him say and again he denied it and said that I am a complainer and asked me to leave and never return Obviously he is incapable of apologizing I assume business is bad and he is having a hard time coping. and will pray for him to find peace and honesty.

You have to respect a diner that makes their own jelly. I thought it was a little suspect that each topping you want in your omelet is individually charged, but I got mine with bacon and cheese and the bacon was big meaty bites and they didnt skimp on the cheese. Hot gooey, and full of flavor. Despite being a 90 minute drive from where I live, my wife and I left planning to come back to the area sometime just so we could eat there again.

What an amazing little place! Its so nice and cozy when you go in there and the service was incredible! You order your food at the counter and you go sit down and they bring it out to you! Got there at 6:55pm, our food was brought to us about 7:15-7:20. Ive definitely found a spot that I WILL be going back to again. And the upcake was delicious! Love it more than a regular cupcake!

Absolutely incredible restaurant with the best food on the main line! Of you have a chance, try Jack's same ol' same ol' (only $6.75) or the sausage gravy biscuit (a steal at $5.00). Plus, some of the best tasting coffee I've ever had.

Awesome place! All the food is made in house and the owners are serious about providing quality. The perfect location for a tasty breakfast and lunch. The Dixie Picnic is a personal favorite of mine, make sure you try their upcakes!

The box lunch hits the spot. The food is always fresh and delicious. You are spending maybe 2 dollars more than what you would at a fast food restaurant, and the quality is exponentially better. The Upcakes are always amazing.

Ordered daily special, a messy but delicious cheeseburger. Customers are in and out quickly and air conditioning doesnt quite cope on hot days. But it is worth it. Come before noon and there is no waiting.

Love this place! I come as often as possible and cant get enough of their upcakes! The chicken salad is great too...oh and the chili and the sweet potato fries and the....you get the point!
