This place used to be a great restaurant, now it is awful. I could not even recommend this restaurant for people I dislike because I would feel too guilty. I went for lunch Friday 10/3/2014 (with my fiance and friend)and it was the worst Asian cuisine experience I have ever had. It started out ok, the waitress took her time to introduce herself and take our drinks. There were 3 other tables in the restaurant, and multiple waitresses.I had to flag a waitress down to order our meals. I ordered the sushi sampler and the lunch hibachi shrimp. The soup and salad came out quick and was literally the best part of the meal. The sushi sampler came and it was not fresh. When three people (two very exposed to the various types of sushi) have to douse sushi in soy or wasabi sauce it is not quality sushi. About an hour later we finally received our food and it was all cold. The plates were lukewarm and the food did not taste fresh. I told the waitress and she told me the she could microwave it. I politely asked her to receive another order of the food and she said she couldnt do that. The manager came over and said he would take our food and get the chefs to cook it fresh. We wait ed 30 minutes and our food came back out. It was the same food only microwaved!!!! I know this because I have had leftover fried rice many times and when you put it in the microwave it becomes soft and chewy unlike fresh fried rice. If you are looking for a quality Hibachi restaurant do not go to this one. I recommend House of Kobe off of the dual HWY

This was my first time here at Nikko. I have to say that I was impressed. The moment I walked in, there was an unexpected elegance that I could appreciate. We asked for the hibachi and were led to the back of the place, seated with some other folks who were already there. Despite the elegant decor, there was a very casual feeling. Then the artistry began. The chef wheels in a rolling tray with food and tools (knives, mostly) and gets to work. In seconds, the grill becomes loaded with rice and vegetables. The chef whips them into an medley of fried rice and sautéed veggies. Then, here come the meats... He puts everyones order on the grill and dedicates time to each individual entree. First the shrimp, then the scallops, then the steak, and finally, my chicken (which I was having with shrimp). Chef remembered everyones order and deals the food like a croupier at a Vegas card table. And the food? Well... I asked for a second helping of "yum yum" sauce... It lived up to its name! The food was plentiful, and it was delicious! The prices were pretty moderate for that type of restaurant--about 20 bucks an entree. But you could probably eat half your meal there as take the rest home. Its THAT plentiful. The service was great, bathrooms clean... Overall, it was an incredible dining experience at Nikkos... I recommend it highly.

This was horrible & way over priced...we had been here in the past & loved it, but each time the food & service decreased but the price increased, we had 2 adults & 2 children, total bill $125, which is fine if the food & service are worth it, but they are not- the veggies consisted of onions and squash primarily, with 1 piece of broccoli, 1 mushroom slice, a 1 slice of carrot per person, the rice-u have to pay extra for fried rice otherwise its steamed, my husband ordered extra rice no veggie, they gave him & each of us 1/2 the amount of rice they used to, dinners come with noodles, but when we all agreed to give my husband our noodles (since his rice was inadequate) instead the hibachi chef gave all of our noodles to the others at the table-he didnt want to give my husband our share of the noodles, the chef also did NOT do the "throw the food & catch in mouth" at all, which disappointed the kids & he wasnt friendly-no games, no choo choo train sounds, no jokes at all- overall, you go to hibachi for the experience- you wont get that experience here & they do not make up for it in the food quality, taste, or amount of food- very unsatisfied, too many other local choices to go here again, sorry Nikko, bye bye

We have been to nikko a bunch of times and had a great time, but this last time was terrible and uncomfortable for more than just me. There was an already drunk man sitting at our grill, which obviously is not Nikkos fault, but he was loud, belligerent, rude, and already at his cut off point. The reason this became a 3 star review is because instead of cutting this man off, they not only continued to serve him but offered him more and suggested larger servings of alcohol. I watched them serve him tequila, beer, and saki, all while suggesting he get more before he was even done. He was cussing, burping, yelling and harrassing those around him. It was making not only everyone at our table but the tables around us with KIDS uncomfortable. This gave me the impression that this is not a true family place but a place that only cares about money. If they didnt they would have cut him off at the VERY least. Super disappointed.

You people are nuts! I go there all the time and have NEVER had a bad experience! I prefer this to most other sushi places in the area. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, full bar, great specialty rolls. All these bad reviews are products of uncultured people who want so much for the smallest amount of money, but I guess if youre cheap and uptight, this isnt the place for you! I would recommend this place to anybody!!

Meh.... I was in the area and craving some hibachi steak and shrimp. I ordered carryout and excitedly rushed back to my hotel and dug in. The food was edible but just wasnt all that tasty and it left me disapointed, especially for the price. I was expecting much better, maybe if I had ate in the resturaunt it would have been better. I wont go back. The staff was nice though!

GREAT SUSHI!! This place by far is my favorite restaurant in hagerstown ,and for sushi this place is the standart! They have little competition. Sakura is a distant 2nd and only acceptable if Nikko isnt open.T he 2 sushi chefs are great at what they do. I highly recommend this place to any sushi lover, you wont be disappointed

Ive eaten sushi in many places and the sushi here is top notch. Ray and Lee go out of their way to ensure the presentations are exceptional and diverse. David, Joseph and their entire staff make for an enjoyable experience. There may not be a better sushi restaurant in the state of Maryland and the areas surrounding Hagerstown.

The food is always the best. The show when theyre cooking it is so awesome to watch. Little kids tend to enjoy the fire volcano they do with the onions. Ive never had an issue with the service or food. Every time I have went, everything was extraordinary. I would recommend the filet mignon. Dont forget the extra yum yum!

Sometimes after a sushi meal you feel like Bill Murray at the end of Groundhog Day; you are exhausted, satisfied, and ready to die if you had to. Or maybe the imported music is just helping me to channel Bill through Lost in Translation. But seriously, either way.
