I wasted my money at Kalia. This is one of those "lesson learned" sort of places. I have been to a variety of Indian buffets all over the USA and this is my second least favorite. The rice was severely overcooked and waterlogged. I personally really enjoy a quality butter chicken dish, but Kalias was not attractive nor tasty. Big disappointment. The entire row of offerings on the buffet suffer from a similarity of flavor, uninspired anglicized Indian dishes, flopped out into stainless steel troughs with no passion or quality or care. Bland. Watery. Lifeless. Sad. I do not understand the positive reviews on here, I am honestly flummoxed. I had wrongly thought better of my fellow Seattle diners. This place was not having an off day, this was normal. Why should any of us continue to reward sub-par poo poo with our patronage? Get teriyaki instead. Anywhere. Go to Burgermaster, hell, go to Wendys- you wont like it any less than this place and you will have more money in your pocket when youre done.

The person working was really nice. But the food as far as what i ordered was horrible in my personal opinion. And this is coming from a person whos family owns an indian restaurant in India. I ordered a chicken biryani, which usually has the spices on the bottom as a paste and has some kick to it, and knowing how indian restaurants in the states tone it down. I ask the server who i believe was the owner to make it a bit more spicier than usual. What he brought to the table looked nothing like a biryani. It looked more like a goulash of rice, spices and chicken, and to make things worse the spices were all raw which caused me a grave discomfort and the chicken was dry and hard. I was very unsatisfied and would recommend no one go there because he charged me 17.05 for a meal i ended up throwing away later.

The service was attentive and friendly. Our order was accurate and the food was ready quickly. Unfortunately our vegetarian meal was simply not very good, and a poor value for what we paid. The pakora were burnt and unchewable and the chutney seemed like it had sat out too long in the heat. The raita was oddly fermented tasting and just a bit off, too. The curries were okay but the tika masala was much too sweet and the texture was really mushy (esp the paneer), as though the ingredients werent all fresh. We remember liking this restaurant in past years but hadnt been in for a long time. It was a disappointment to spend $90 on a meal for three that was partially inedible, especially when there are so many excellent restaurants that feature Indian food in Seattle. We hope our experience was a fluke!

We dined here about 3 weeks ago with our son and his roommate, so we were able to order a wide variety of items for our first excursion into Indian cuisine (were lived the last twenty years in an area with very limited international cuisine, to say the least). I wont say that all the food appealed to every one of us, just that if one of us did not care for an offering, the other three were more than happy to fight over the remaining share. The owner (I believe) was more than happy to explain what each dish was and how it was made. Do not go here expecting fancy decor or uniformed Sikh warriors as servers, go here for absolutely excellent food.

Hosted a party here. Owner was very nice and hospitable and accommodated our crowd. Food was great, not very spicy which my guests appreciated. Very good selection. Lunch buffet is a great value both on weekdays and weekends .They play some indian tv but its not too loud and sets a great ambience. Located in a very central area of greenwood, if theres no parking in their lot, plenty of street parking in surrounding blocks.

These guys are awesome! I knew about them from their catering at Microsoft Building 37 and their lamb and goat curries are amazing. We just ordered them to go last week and everything was fresh and hot AND they threw in some mango pudding for dessert. We have been here with our 2 year old running around and they just smile and enjoy us and always make us feel welcome.

We had a great experience for our first visit to Kalia! The staff were very friendly and professional, the food was fantastic and exactly what we wanted which is to say plenty hot for me (3 stars) and easy to make hotter for my husband thanks to a little dish of extra spice. It was the best Lamb Saag weve ever had! We will certainly be going back again.

This is the first time Ive loved a place enough to leave a comment. This place is so good, I had to take my family while they were in town for only 5 days because they HAD to try Kalia. The food is top-tier and the owners are so gracious and kind, my gf and I eat there weekly. I recommend this place to anyone. Vegan and Veggie options++

We love Kalia! My husband and I always order the vegetable korma and the butter chicken. The tandori chicken is a good deal too--you get almost a whole chicken! If you go sit in the restaurant, the guy will usually bring you a small rice pudding after you finish your entrees. =)

The food is excellent. However, multiple times when Ive had it delivered, things were missing from the order or the order was entirely wrong.

I was served water with a cockroach in it. I have posted a picture too. This place also looks and feels unhygienic. Not recommended.

My favorite northern Indian in the city, has a saltier palate and has an odd yogurt like aftertaste, I love it and I hate yogurt
