Despite all the good reviews this place gets by customers that they love to play favorites with, my family and I didnt have a pleasant experience since we ended up being the ones that they didnt want to treat well. My family and I were raised to make etiquette, politeness, respect for service workers, and consideration for others an important part of our lives. So we were the ones who NEVER said nor did anything to provoke how the waitor chose to treat us. So he was the one who was weird to us and we assumed he was just having a bad day. I could not help but notice how the same waitor kept on going to the tables of other dining customers to see how they were doing but rarely came to our table to see how we were doing. I find it bizarre that they never let us sit at tables near the windows when those tables were not even reserved and no one was sitting near the windows. But, when more customers soon came in and were asked where they wanted to sit, for some strange reason they were allowed to sit near the windows when they asked the same staff if they could. We never got a couple of items that we ordered but were still charged for it until they hesitantly refunded us. We also couldnt help but wonder why people who came to the restaurant after our arrival got their food first when they ordered just as many things as us, while my family and I kept on waiting and waiting. I came all the way from Fairfield and my aunt and uncle came all the way from San Jose to eat here yet this restaurant repaid us with its odd service. Glad I found a better Indian restaurant nearby.

I came in a large group and from the reviews, the restaurant seemed very promising. The environment seemed very nice. I ordered the masala chai and it was delicious. However, the portions were extremely small for the price and did not come with anything else, so we had to pay for the rice and naan. Keep in mind we had to buy a lot because our group was large. The staff was extremely rude to us, gave us dirty looks and did not take us seriously. The only exception to that was the sweet man who was giving us the water, he was very polite and treated us with respect. He was the only thing that was really positive about the restaurant. I do not think I will be going back.

Service was nice, but management was rude. Gave us a really hard time because our party wanted to put the check on two cards. We didnt know they charged for rice. The bill had $20 for rice. We looked at the menu and saw rice was $3. We said we only got 3 bowls of rice. They said " yes, we brought you 3 double orders". The food was mediocre. Not a lot of flavor and the vegetable dishes lacked flavor and some were watery. Maybe for pick up you might enjoy it. But there are other restaurants that can show appreciation for customer, its not this place.

We had ordered vegetarian and found the food just ok. When we had asked for a change of seats, the response was rude. We asked for carrot halwa which was in the menu card, but not available that day, then we settled in for kufli. But, to our shock, the kulfi was stale . When requested for a finger bowl, a glass of water with a slice of lemon was brought much to our dismay. Also, a rude response telling us to go to wash room. We did not mind but there was no separate wash there. They need to understand that customers first and their bandhas next. Nat

This place is really bad for vegetarian especially if you are going for a lunch buffet. The particulr Friday lunch I went it was Mool ki sabji, Dal palak and mix dal as main vegetarian entree. I guess I was going to a restaurant not a hospital for my meal. Seems chef does not believe in simple food chain. desserts sucked, were out of can stuff. The bill was brought to us with out just first course, though the restaurant wasnt as busy. not sure of the hurry. Was a real ripoff on the money u spent. Rude staff, house flies every where.

Lotus makes the BEST Indian food in the area - beyond compare! Their paneer tikka masala is excellent, they have wonderful naan, rice, samosas and pakora, and their chai tea is fantastic. A little pricy for dinner, but everything is well worth the cost. The service is good, waiters are responsive and your water glass will never empty. The ceiling of the main part of the restaurant peels back during the day, so you can eat under and open sky for lunch (when its warm), which is pretty neat. Great place!

Wont be going back. 18% automatic gratuity + 3% random restaurant tax + $18 rice?!? We ordered 5 curry dishes between all of us and they brought us 3 dishes of rice and charged us $18 for the rice! They told us we should have known because we ordered "a al cart" all the curry dishes were $15 a pieces, they should come with rice. The curry dishes were also quite small. The service wasnt great. The place was also pretty empty. But I give it two stars because maybe take out would be better...

I ate here with a group of friends in late October 2012. We ate in the side room. After dinner, we went to the cash register to pay. One of my friends realized he had left his $180 jacket on the back of his chair. He went back into the side room to get it, and it was gone. The dishes had been cleared from our table. Obviously the waiter or bus boy had stolen it, but the management denied this, and didnt allow us to search the kitchen, etc.

Ive tried other Indian places in Marin, and I keep coming back here. The staff is amazingly friendly, I love the decor (hey, yes, its a little cheesy but so what?! Its cool!) and the food.... the food is the best Indian in Marin and some of the best in the Bay Area. Naans are excellent, all the various curries are great and the vegetarian options are very wide and deep. And the sliding roof is cool! (Go on a warmish night.... very fun!)

Lotus is our favorite restaurant, not only for the amazing food, but because of the amazing staff. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure that your dinning experience is the best, every time. Local, organic ingredients shine through in every bite. You can taste the pride, love and attention Lotus gives to their food in every bite. We also appreciate the Vegan and Gluten free options. Not just the best Indian food; the best restaurant!

This is one of my familys favorite Indian restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am of Indian heritage and very picky about Indian food. Every time I need a home fix I come here for an authentic Indian meal. Using fresh ingredients and spices the flavors, tastes are truly the same as what I get when I visit restaurants in Delhi and Jaipur. Best of all, the restaurant is very consistent with its high quality of service and food.

Beautiful decor, youre paying some for atmosphere here, as opposed to other indian places that are some folding chairs and a counter. but the food is INCREDIBLE so its totally worth it. also, they are very gluten-free friendly, down to having g-free naan! the owner is very very sweet, and ive never had bad food or bad service here. easy street parking and they take reservations. WOULD EAT HERE EVERY DAY IF I LIVED IN SAN RAFAEL!
