I eat at this restaurant on a regular basis for lunch and dinner. Sometimes I like to sit out front on 4th St between Broadway and Chestnut at one of the tables on the sidewalk out in front of Safiers. There is a lot of action if there is something going on at The Mercury Ballroom, Fourth Street Live!, the Brown Theatre or the Louisville Palace Theatre. Carry out is just as good and is super convenient for me to walk from my place which is only a couple blocks away. I recommend the Beef and Chicken Shawarma plate with Humus instead of the salad and Baklava for dessert. The entire staff is made up of great people who take pride in serving great food. You will not be disappointed.

You order at the counter and they bring your food to you on disposable plates. Its not the fanciest place, but the food is incredible! They have the best hummus Ive ever tasted, and the portion is pretty large. I always share it with a friend. They always have a daily special, and last time it was biriyani. Wow, I was so impressed with this dish and cant believe Im just now discovering it! You could choose chicken or lamb, and I picked lamb. The sauce was a red brown sauce with incredible spices and some heat to it. This was paired with rice and the side house salad. Plenty of leftovers! Theres usually a line at lunch, but they move quickly and its so worth the wait!

This place is excellent for good, cheap eats downtown and even delivers. If you like medi food then this place is just for you. Their specials are excellent, stop in on Thursday or Friday for their Lamb Shank, its delicious. Their hummus is the best Ive ever had. Its one of the greatest restaurants in Louisville and seems to be a big secret. Try their dinners with a HUGE salad and side of rice, pita and sauce plus meat of your choice for only $6-$8. Their kafta kabobs (beef) and shish tawook (chicken) are delicious and dont forget to get their baklava which is divine!

Owned by a Muslim guy from Bombay, this is a great restaurant for all the Zabiha-only eaters, especially, but for anyone in general also. They have daily specials on the weekdays, with Friday being Indian biryani, if I remember correctly. I love the Chicken Shawarma sandwich, and the Kafta kebab sandwich. Great value as well. I think they deliver between 11-2 to the Medical Center area as well. Highly recommend this Mediterranean restaurant for a delicious, affordable meal.

This place is amazing! I was completely hooked after a lunch date I had here years ago. The date was not so great but the food COMPLETELY made up for it! I probably eat here once a week.....on a bad week when I need some extra comfort....I have eaten here 3 times. :-/ Ive never had anything bad from this place. I love everything here but my personal favorites are the hummus, Chicken Shwarma sandwich, chicken shwarma and the kabobs! I hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

Hey ... its a deli so the ambiance is deli-ish. The food is over the top amazing, the service is equal to the food. A fun, friendly place to eat in the eclectic downtown area of Louisville. Plenty of parking nearby. And, when its warm and sunny, you can even sit outside enjoying Safiers amazing food, along with the sunshine. A must to visit. Highly recommend the beef schwarma, the hummus, the mujadara and the tabouleh1

No frills deli with authentic Mediterranean fare. Generous portions, I really enjoyed the vegetarian platter with your choice of four items. The rice and lentil dish was outstanding. Safier has a sweet spot in historical a downtown location with a sidewalk patio. We stopped in for lunch, service was quick despite the midday crowd. We even snagged a great parking spot and a table outside.

My wife and I have been going to this restaurant since it opened several years ago. The staff is friendly but extremely focussed on their work. Safier Deli has become so popular that it can get a bit crowded during the weekday lunch rush. A line starts to form as early as 11:20 and is usually out the door by noon. Regular patrons are happy to wait, though: its the best food around.

Hummus was decent but too smooth, like they blended it too much. The beef shawerma was the best thing we ordered. The tabouleh was delicious, and the rolled grape leaves were ok, but I prefer the cold ones (which I think are Greek, not Lebanese). Overall, a satisfying meal, but nothing to go out of your way for. If youre in the area and craving Mediterranean, go for it.

The greek salad and hummus are too die for, a flavor explosion to put it mildly. It keeps me coming back every week for lunch. Very reasonably priced, delicious food. You cant beat it. I tried the "Hofa" place across the street once, their hummus is completely tasteless, and their food is more expensive. Save yourself the dissappointment and only go to Safier.

WOW. This was my first visit to Safier and it was fabulous. I decided to trust the other reviewers and they are correct. The place isnt much to look at, but the food is spectacular and a good price. I am a vegetarian and got the vegetarian sampler so I could try everything. It was all very, very good. Would definitely recommend!

I drive from the East End thru downtown rush hour traffic to get there, AND ITS WORTH IT THE EFFORT! Truly authentic Mediterranean and Indian food, wonderful staff, and more than fair prices. Highly recommend lamb shank Saturday also! Even better, park in 5th Street garage, and the door lets out right in front of Safiers.

I stumbled on this restaurant after finding out my original destination had closed. The food is wonderful with nice size portions (so much rice!) and the price is very reasonable. There was a line since it was during the lunch rush so I expected a wait but they were very fast and friendly. Ill definitely eat here again!

If your downtown around lunch time, then this is a great place to have an inexpensive and quick bite to eat. Fridays special is lamb biryani. It is served generously on a place with salad, yogurt sauce, and pita bread. It was flavorful and delicious! We sat outside and enjoyed lunch on a nice sunny day.

One of my favorite spots for a quick lunch. Watch out if you come at noon-there will be a line and probably no place to sit, but thats because its really good food. Very nice staff, clean kitchen, and quick service. Some of the best Lebanese food around.

Awesome Mediterranean dishes. The kabobs are great, service is fast, but the restaurant itself gets hectic at lunch time. First timers be warned, its a bit intimidating because youll feel rushed. But the servers/cooks have always been nice and helpful

The chicken shawarma sandwich is to die for! It tastes even better with an extra side of hummus and hot sauce! They make their own hot sauce too. Ive brought about 10 friends here and they all absolutely loved it! Their falafels are also very good.

My delivery order to a nearby hotel did not disappoint at all. Fresh, wonderful Middle Eastern food, everything prepared perfectly. I will order again the next time Im back in Louisville for business. Excellent food! $5 delivery charge. Worth it.
