My boyfriend and I came to Old School on the recommendation of a family member. As charming as the retro decor and bad indie music is, I was immediately put off by the service. The girl at the counter not only did not look clean, but was less than interested in taking our order. You know how it goes when you feel like youre a burden to your waitress? Yep. When my boyfriend asked if he could get a particular pizza without olives, she just glared at him and said "nope. you can pick em off. you want it?". And proceeded to walk away to get a soda while she waited for my card to run through. Our two thick crust speciality slices were a reasonable $7.56 however, so we sat down in one of their booths (which was dirty) and waited. When they called our order up, our pizza was COLD. We had to ask them to stick it back in the oven. We got our slices back burnt. (the middle of our pizza was very tasty however, and if they were to turn down their oven and spend an extra five minutes cooking their slices... it might make up for the horrible service). Also, while the wifis speed is superb, there is not a single outlet in the building. to sum it up, a dirty semi-cute joint, with a bad attitude (oh so Oly) will not be bringing me or my boyfriend back. All there is left to say is the search for Olympias perfect slice of pizza continues... On to Brewery City?

No AC. Not very clean. Staff is not friendly. Customer service was poor to ok. Also seemed under staffed. About an hour wait if you wanted to order a pizza instead of just buying already made by the slice. I didnt like being there. I walked in and saw two staff members but neither of them looked up at me to help. Two other parties came in and no one was greeted at the front to order or told to be seated wherever they liked. Trash was left on the seats and the tables. Now I liked the pizza. I give the pizza 4 stars. Fabulouse huge slices! The crust was good. Thin and had a good taste and good texture. The sauce worked great with the crust and cheese. Added a freshness and juiciness. Good flavor. The cheese was the perfect thickness and stretchiness. This is a greasy pizza. I like grease. The pizza was way too salty. Way too many herbs and salt on top. It seemed like whoever made it was afraid it wouldnt be savory enough so they loaded it down with salt. It wasnt enjoyable. I had to take it home and put unsalted ricotta on it to even it out.

Tried this place at the urging of a friend from Seattle. My boyfriend and I were extremely disappointed. The service was slow and the girl at the counter was rude to say the least. She wouldnt explain what was on the pizza we ordered, just pointed to the menu. It took us 20min to get our pizza slices, and when we got it wasnt cooked all the way. The crust was way too thin (even for a thin crust) and soggy! It tasted worse then the kind of pizza you get in most dive bars. The atmosphere left much to be desired. When we walked in, everyone looked at us like we didnt belong there, either because we are both minorities or because we are over 21 (Im 23, hes 26), and it made us feel really uncomfortable and unwelcome. The music was too loud to hear each other talk across the table, and really bad 80s music at that. Save your time and money and eat at Vics Pizzeria on Division St! They are way more friendly if nothing else.

I was visiting some friends in town and they insisted I try this place. As soon as I walked in I was impressed as they were playing pre-puppets Metallica and Slayer on the jukebox. Awesome music: check. Then the girl that took our order was a little slice of heaven too. She looked like my best friends mom when she was about 26 years old; which is to say she was super hot. Excellent service: check. My friends ordered "the Nuge" a meat pizza with like 4-5 different animals on it. Im not a big meat pizza fan, simply because chunks of flesh on a pizza are kinda gross looking. These guys do it right though, the mince up all the meat really fine so you dont have sausage balls falling into your lap all the time. Awesome pie: check. Ill definitely go back to this place next time Im in Oly, if only to play sit-down arcade games and try flirting with my best friends moms doppelganger.

The inside is pretty plain and simple with the menu written on a chalk board but thats part of the charm. The classic Italian style music is a welcome change to the usual thumping club music. The service is friendly and efficient. The garden salad is fresh appropriately dressed and as a surprise, comes with nice sourdough crusts. For the main event, the pizza, we ordered a basic margherita. The all important crust was tasty, thin in the middle and wonderfully puffed and and mildly charred on the perimeter. The tomato sauce was ripe, plentiful, and delicious. The mozzarella was plentiful as well. Truly, one of the best margherita pizzas that Ive had in this town. Also, unique was their grilled rosemary lemonade. It was smooth, not overly cloying and the rosemary really gave it a great flavor. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

Down to earth, nostalgic pizza joint. Best place to get pizza by the slice. Staff is friendly and there is always music blasting thru the speakers. Things of note is not only are they a Olympia staple, having held the same building for 20+ years but they are consistent. They are known for having not only new York style thin crust but thick Sicilian crust too. They offer some unique toppings like goat cheese, lamb meatballs and roasted potatoes slices. Also offer a gluten free crust for those seeking that option. All in all its one of my favorite places in Olympia. You may ask, why the for stars then, this is because the place is a little grungy. Really I only want to knock it a half point for that.

Ive been here five times and each time thought it was a coincidence that I got really bad customer service but five times in a row is ridiculous. It has been a different set of employees each time, which tells me they either hire people with bad customer service skills or dont have a standard set for their employees to be polite or courteous. Just go to Pizza Time a few blocks away, they may not have the atmosphere of Old School which in all aspects SHOULD be an awesome downtown eatery, but the staff is really friendly and wont tell you theyre "clearly too busy" when you ask them if they can put one topping on a slice of cheese pizza because they ran out of all their other slices.

Everything about this place says "Downtown Oly!" I can understand why some might not fully enjoy the atmosphere, but hey, welcome to Olympia. Ive never had a problem with the employees, they always seems very nice, even bringing my family there (All very "normal" people) was great! Everyone loved it! All the crazy-ness that are the walls, the music, the people, make this place what it is, great. I can absolutely say this is one of my favorite spots to hang out while in downtown. I recommend it to any and everyone. And the best part is.... You can get a SLICE!! Of anything you want too, all you have to do is ask. ;)
