We usually go to the Capitol Blvd store, but today I was closer to the Division St. one, so dropped in to get a look at the "other" Vics. In fairness, its possible for a "perfect storm" of bad service and improperly made food if you are (un)lucky enough to be in any restaurant at the wrong time... and today was that (un)lucky day. I placed my order this way: would you please make me a 14" Greener, to go? The unsmiling cashier asked, "Is that to go?" (Me, smiling) Yes. To-go. (note to self, when someone asks me a question right *after* I gave them the answer, start paying a LOT of attention, because someone in the transaction is not.) When it was ready the other nonsmiling staff member called out my name; I took my pizza to the car and drove off for home. I should have looked before leaving because what I got (and apparently was charged for) was a 16" pizza (not a 14") with most of the toppings in an 8" circle right in the middle, and underneath the toppings, as a result, the crust was not cooked; it was basically 8" of semi-raw dough. So no friendly staff, wrong size pizza, raw dough in the center, most toppings in the center, all discovered too late. FORTUNATELY the Vics on Capitol Blvd is lively, friendly -even though busy, -and our pizzas have always been right. So my recommendation is to skip the Division Street store completely and visit the Capitol Blvd. one. Its smaller, sometimes crowded and loud, but the experience is much better all the way around. Could be that another visit to this Division Street store would be much more positive ...but I dislike gambling where Ive lost already.

Dont bother. I dont understand why this place is popular because I enjoyed nothing about this place. My dissatisfaction came in three parts. Firstly, it took 45 minutes to bring out a pizza and a calzone. It was not crowded when we ordered either. Second, the calzone was piping hot, obviously straight out of the oven, and with no sauce in it. My wife has spent 5 minutes discussing which sauce she wanted as she was looking for the vegan option, so for them to forget it was pretty disappointing. Also, the dipping sauce they give you (not the same sauce) is cold. Nobody wants to dip hot fresh dough in cold sauce! The pizza was even worse. The whole wheat dough was cardboard. If youre going to offer alternative options, they need to be good, not just check the "vegan" block. The sauce was so thinly spread onto the dough I could barely taste it and there was about one pepperoni per slice. On top of that it must have been out of the oven for 30 minutes. It was barely above room temperature. Lastly, the service was terrible. They have built in tipping in your check when you order so you never know what youre going to get. A 2 bite check would have gone a long way duribg my visit, but that never happened. Then when I asked for a to go box, I waited another 5 minutes until I just asked another employee and she gave me one immediately. I was glad they offered beer but I didnt have any so Ill reserve judgement on that front. Overall this place is popular because its local. Period.

Hubby and I loved this place on our first outing down to Olympia. Reminded me of the NY-style stuff Im accustomed to from back East. Got the pizza with pesto, spinach and chicken--TO DIE! Amazing crispy-crunch-yet-soft-on-the-inside crust. Good flavor to it, too! Not chintzy with the toppings, either. It had huge, delicious chunks of roasted garlic scattered all over it so prolly not a first date pizza. Got the garden greens salad with lemon tahini dressing and it was very tasty. Hubby got a beer on tap and liked it. We couldnt finish it all and we had to go up to the counter and get the girls attention (busy) to ask for something to carry it out with and she gave us a box. Only thing that kinda sucks about this place is that its an order at the counter style restaurant so after they bring your food out your kinda left out in the cold. "Um, excuse me, extra busy Bus Boy! Can I get a refill?" Eh. Also, the million-and-one convoluted directions about how to dispose of your garbage/uneaten food properly was confusing and left me feeling inadequate somehow. I feel like the money they charge for their food outta cover trash disposal and sorting, etc. I honestly dont care about that stuff when I go out to dinner, I mean its cool but cant you take care if it? Still, I digress. Cant wait to go back and try something else, maybe their red sauce. Yummmm :-D

Great pizza but unfortunately, consistently the WORST customer service EVER. I live really close so I have gotten many pizzas at Vics in the last 15 years. I really want to give this place a great review but I just cant. I have done the kind of work they do and if I had treated people the way they do, I would have been fired. I picked up a pizza tonight, was thrown the bill to sign, the person ran off. I signed the bill and double checked with the next person that showed up at the counter that the pizza that was there was mine and wasnt someone elses that was waiting for their pizza. She promptly and rudely asked if I paid and didnt answer my question. I understand that it was ok to check to see that I paid but she should have answered my very simple question first. And blah blah blah for the many times that people that have been rude or have just blew me off. I think they just hire people who look the part and not people who do a good job. Very unfortunate for such a potentially great place. :( I think after 15 years after being a loyal customer, Im DONE PUTTING UP WITH CRAP.

Good, traditional pizza joint on Olympias west side. Daily vegan slices join an inventive variety of pizzas. Good selection of microbrews and hard ciders. Limited selection of dessert items. Outdoor seating offers a welcome opportunity (weather permitting) to watch the people and traffic go by. Why 3 stars? Vics suffers from the inconsistency that often plagues Olympias local food scene. Just because it tastes great today doesnt mean itll be remotely close to the same, tomorrow. Plus Vics (again, like many Olympia restaurants) offers vegan choices, but of a sort of hair shirt veganism. Mostly dry, uninspired toppings closer to twigs and bark than vegan ever needs to be. You like a lot of nutritional yeast on a nearly burnt and cracker-crispy thin crust? You could get that, a lot, as Vics vegan slice. Or not. You never know.

Ive eaten here since I was born, basically. Before I was vegan, I would get the pizza with the artichokes on it, so when I went vegan I gave up on pizza until I learned Vics has vegan slices. I go every other month, about, and I love their vegan options. Unfortunately, the pizza Ive been getting lately has been dripping oil and its really gross. I have to take a napkin and press on it. Its like that disgusting Costco pizza but with vegetables and no cheese. Oh, and I think it was the lemon poppyseed cookie...did not taste good. It tasted like grass. Sorry, Vics. Ive been coming to you guys for almost eighteen years. What happened? Besides that, good service. Also, not to be picky, but they use the same spatula to pick up the meat-lovers pizza and the vegan pizza. Yeahhhh...
