Tonight we decided to go to our old standby for a dinner buffet. Weve been to the Great Wall restaurant many times before and have been very satisfied. I really enjoyed their steak teriyaki. Nice plump and juicy pieces of beef on a stick. The Ma Pao Tofu was very tasty. Selection was good if not great. Tonight however, was a whole different story. The buffet was sparse littered with scraps of what was at some point a dish. It was like a left overs buffet. No more steak teriyaki, but replaced with pieces of chicken on a stick. I waited almost 15 minutes before taking these pictures in hopes that the buffet would be refilled. Even when the buffet was refilled after us asking, it was half filled and the food was for lack of a better word, disgusting. After being empty for over 15 minutes, the chicken wings were refilled with a few wings and a few drumsticks. Talk about stingy. The mussels were not fresh and over seasoned with some black bean sauce. The rest of the food were of a similar nature - over seasoned with some salty brown sauce. One dish was so old that the white sauce started to coagulate. When I complained to the front desk, they just looked at me with a blank face and offered an obligatory "sorry". No "what can we do to make it up to you." or "would you like to order something else on the house." or "we deducted half the price off your bill." NOTHING. When asked for the manager, their reply was "shes off today." I even asked the waiter in the beginning if I can cancel my buffet after having only the soup and a few pieces of awful mussels. No obliging me there. So look at my photos and you be the judge. Is the buffet worthy of $18 per person?

Dishonest and disgusting. A total nightmare. This is the one of only two restaurants I have left bad reviews for. Was told that the dinner buffet is 11.99, but got charged for nearly 17 (not including tax and tips, just the buffet). Waiters extremely rude. They did their absolute best to ensure that you dont eat much - the sources in the dishes are full of flour or whatever crazy stuff, and most of them are tasteless and disgusting. They served me a bowl of hot sour soup which was so awful that I could barely drink any - not sure if thats why I was charged extra but they told me its included and I couldnt imagine it would be that bad. When I was about to leave, I was still hungry but with a bloated stomach due to the flour and I had no energy to argue about the bill either! And yes I have been to dozens of Chinese buffets and enjoyed most of them and this one is the absolute worst!

Ten-twelve years ago, we used to go to the Great Wall every 3-4 months as a family outing or as part of a group. It was good enough given I live 10 minutes away. It has been going down hill ever since, and we stopped going about 6 years ago. I decided to give it one more try, and it has now descended about as far as possible, and is simply dreadful. The soup (hot and sour, egg drop) was thin, although the hot and sour was not completely tasteless - mostly but not completely.. The mooshi beef was utterly tasteless, and had almost no beef. The hoisin sauce tasted like hoisin sauce much to my surprise. The scallion pancakes were actually edible by comparison. I think this restaurant wont be in business much longer, so if you want really awful Chinese food, you better get there soon. Im not sure what made me try this place again - no one else I know will go near the place.

I used to come all the way from Cambridge to have Chinese food from this place, it was that good. Now, it is mediocre. It has gone down in quality over the last 10 years. One time I came with my mother and they had just set up the dinner buffet and it was pretty good, but another time I came and the buffet was already up and running and it was, well, OK. I have ordered from the menu and find it expensive and of average quality. And, the service is only so-so. But, I am an Asian food aficionado, so I am hard to please with this cuisine. I have found that China Town in Boston is the only place to go if you really want decent, anything close to authentic Chinese food. Lowell has some surprisingly good, reasonably priced places for Vietnamese food.

Best Chinese restaurant in the world! My familys been going there since before I was born and have yet to be disappointed. The food is delicious (tried the pan fried Peking dumplings!) the decor is beautiful, and the staff is AMAZING!! They even remember your names and things that have happened to you. My father broke his leg a few years ago, and now has to use a cane. Whenever he comes, they always ask how hes feeling and even offer to carry the takeout bag to the car for him! The also always ask how me and my sister are doing. You cant do better than the Great Wall! To those who say that the food isnt good-maybe you came on an off day. Maybe you severely burned your taste buds. I dont know why you didnt like it, but you should try it again.

Ive been here off and on over many years. Ive always found the service a bit cool and stiff, but the food has been good and a place you could depend on for a nice lunch. Sadly, not anymore. I was there last week and both the selections at the buffet and the quality have deterioriated. The sauces on the entrees were gloppy and cloying and greasy as well. Cross this one of your list. Too bad.

There is not a rating lower then, poor to give the Great Wall buffet. I went there and left feeling like I was rob! For the price of $15.95 there should be plenty of fresh food to choice from but you need to scrape from the bottom - they are not good about keeping the buffet fill. The staff is rude! Would not recommed the great wall or there buffet to anyone

My sister, daughters, and I love this place. Beautiful, relaxing decor. Delicious Chinese-American cuisine. Drinks are terrific--great Zombies. We always order from the menu, so cant speak for buffet, but it looks very good.. Favorites are the Peking ravioli, Orange flavored spicey jumbo shrimp, ginger-scallion noodles, edamame/chicken combo...

This place has been here forever and I remember going here back when I was a kid. Went today again for first time in a while. I did the lunch buffet and it was good. Sadly they had a small selection of foods but what they had out was good. I did like their hot and sour soup.
