Very bad dining experience We were told the wait time was 40 minutes. We had to wait for 1 hour 45 minutes before we could be seated. Had they told us earlier we would left and come back some other day. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 kids. We ordered some breads and curries. Since the breads go cold and hard faster, I would expect the curry to be served first followed by the breads. But they had the breads served 10 minutes before the curries and it became cold by the time, the curries came. Also, It annoyed me to see the person handling our food chew gum with his mouth open. At least, have the courtesy to chew with closed mouth!! This owner owns Aahar as well. But to keep the business running on both places, signature dishes from Aahar are served only in Aahar. Example, Kerala fish fry. If you want the fish fry, you still need to go Aahar. The portion size was small, very small. For that price, we expected a lot more food. We ended up paying almost $35 per person to have a satisfactory meal. This amount, by any means, is ridiculous. We went to the restaurant at 6pm and came out at 9:05pm. This experience was longer than movies I have seen but only worse. Finally the compulsory gratuity, 18%!! Not when the service suck. The food was delicious but we were disappointed at so many levels to appreciate it or enjoy it. We are not returning there. After so much hype, this was a big let down. :(

We started with Chemeen Vada and Lemon-Mint-Rose spritzer. The Chemeen Vada was excellent! to an Indian, this is a Masala Vada stuffed with a medium size Shrimp. While the Shrimp was ok, the Masala Vada was just as it supposed to be with the right spices! The Lemon-Mint-Rose spritzer is Soda mixed with Rose sweet water. this was special! For the entree, we had the Nalla Molagu Chemeen Curry with Malabar Parotta. The parotta was amazing, this was closer to what we get back home. very good fluffiness! for each $5 plate of Parotta, you get 2 parotta! The Nalla Molagu Chemeen curry is a Tomato Pepper based curry which comes with a cup of basmati rice Lastly for desert we had Pazhampori with Coconut Ice-cream. Its ripe bananas covered with rice batter and deep fried and served with honey drizzle, coconut ice-cream. The bananas were not sweet and this was a sweet end to a beautiful dinner! would love to visit again and hopefully the wait times are less!

A" hole in the wall "kind of place , when you enter the parking lot, you rethink if you wanna park, bcoz it looks under-construction, a little stringy looking- middle of no where place in Kirkland. the downside is the road construction and lack of a name plate ! But the upside is right in downtown , crowd attracting location and the smell of food just makes you enter in. Cons : 1) Less parking, no plz carpool 2) Lotsa wait time , so go on a weekday to try it 3) Not the best ambience! its better than some other indian restaurants. 4) sitting is limited 5) like any other India restaurant, its loud. Pros: 1) Excellent taste , kerala style menu and a slightly different than what you normally would eat, not spicy . 2) service is good, they are quick and nice. 3) Multiple desert options and they are not the regular indian deserts. thats a plus.. 4) price is $$ . for 2 of us, was 50$ 5) great place for dosas. A must try!

Went there on July 4th after hearing some good reviews but I was in for a surprise.Ordered Kappa as starter and fish curry alongwith payyoli chicken and Mutton varattiyath. The portion of kappa would have been good for a 3 year old and taste was just ok.The payyoli chicken tasted more like spicy garlic chicken wings from buffalo wild wings. The supposedly Kerala style meen curry was the biggest disappointment of the day.It was not even closely related to authentic Kerala style meen curry and the consistency of the gravy highly suggested water was added later to an already prepared curry to increase quantity. $6 for a small cup of kuthari rice was an absolute rip off as well. The waiting time was close to 40 min and service was lackluster. We had to ask for napkins and cutlery after the food arrived. The only saving grace of the day was the mutton varattiyath which was an absolute delight of a dish.

Parking is free but limited. They dont take reservations and wait times are long especially if your party is larger. Several groups of 2 were seated faster than our group of 6 , we waited 40 minutes after arriving at 12.30pm on Saturday. The lady at the front has quite a brusque manner unlike the rest of the Indian staff who were extremely friendly and polite. The food is pricey for the portion served, but authentic, very flavorful .Only complaint would be that portions are inadequate. The mutton korma had few pieces for the amount of gravy. The rice it comes with is barely enough for 1 person. Fish pollichathu was delicious. Chakka ice cream and pazhampori were both delicious. Ice cream tasted homemade and was delicious. Bill was $140 for 4 adults and 2 kids and we left not overly full. If they increased the portions it might be worth frequenting.

Terrible! Called up beforehand to see if they accept reservations. They said they dont and it is first come first serve. I checked myself into line and was told wait time is 30 minutes. Waited for 45 min, still no response. Was told that they initially said 50 minutes and it is going to take 15 more minutes. Got sick of waiting and left the place without having dinner. Should have clearly communicated the wait time. I felt cheated because i heard 30 minutes and then they changed it to 50 minutes. This is not the first time this happened at this restaurant. There were instances of this happening in other reviews. Blatant liars!

Great Indian food in a small, but welcoming atmosphere. The staff is warm and friendly, and the menu features both standard dishes (tikka masala and southern dosas), and some less expected offerings like coco paneer and truffle masala dosa. The paneer tikka from the tandoor oven is uniquely spiced and excellent. Parking can be challenging, as spots are limited and the lot is off a very busy road and near a major intersection. Its worth the hassle, though, to have a great Indian restaraunt near Juanita Bay.

Great location, very interesting menu especially if you are a Keralite. Seemed very busy and parking seems to be all used up. Not a bad thing if you are the restaurant owner but definitely is a pain if you are a hungry patron. With regards to the food the Kerala dishes were great. I ordered the Kerala Meen Curry and Mutton Varattiyathu, both tasted great and like moms cooking. The vegetable Biryani was decent. The onion kulcha that I ordered was undercooked.

Kathakali Restaurant- Cannot compare with Aahaar.. I ordered Fish curry, kuthari rice, chicken biriyaani, payyoli chicken.. rice was half cooked, biriyaani was not at all tasty and very less quantity , payyoli chicken was really horrible... very bad... fish curry was somewhat okay,,, Wait time at 1:30 PM yesterday was 1 hour. Pay More.. Expect Less..

Quick and friendly service - we showed up at lunchtime and didnt have to wait. The food was so good that I was getting emotional. My vegetable curry was actually spicy, which is hard to find around here. They do have some non-spicy options too. The dosas were fantastic. I will definitely be back, hopefully soon.
