ROACHES, TERRIBLE SERVICE, ROOM TEMP DRY FOOD and INDIFFERENT OWNER/MANAGER.Check-in:We visited on a quite Saturday afternoon for lunch buffet. We were the 3rd table to be occupied , rest all were empty. We sat down and told them we are awaiting fro 2 more friends to show up. Still the waitress got us the naan right away and was sitting there to get cold.Buffet & Food quality:When our friends arrived we approached the buffet and saw a tiny buffet with limited room temp dried food items. As we were all settled in with the baby etc, we said, oh well as long as the food tastes good lets try. The food was mediocre at best and at room temp it was tasting even worst. The Tandoori chicken was super dry and felt as if it was stale one re-heated in microwave. I will not waste too much time here as its get more interesting when we come to service.Service:The naan-bread was getting served and plates were cleared only when asked for and was taking forever alsoThe icing on the cake was waiting for us when they served us much awaited naan bread, we saw a ROACH crawling around the table. We called the waitress and told about the ROACH and rather than saying sorry or anything she asked us whee it came from, really???? We immediately got up and started heading out.Now , the best part Manger/owner asked us , What happened? We told them about the ROACH, he said its ok. No apologies, sorry or anything of that sort , really???Also, he had a very casual attitude toward the ROACH and said it must be in the naan-basket, again, really???We asked about the bill , so his reply was if you think you had eaten some food go ahead and pay, really???So rather than arguing more (as if talking to a wall) and not taking any favor from such a pathetic place and rude owner we paid and left the restaurant with half empty stomachs.Never ever will even think of looking at that place again and hope there are no more places like these out there putting a bad name to Indian and overall restaurant industries. All the best if you still decide to eat there... hoping that we dont get food poisoning thats all...

I loved Chutneys for 5+ years. Absolutely the best Chicken Tikka Masala Ive had in the area. Always cost more, but worth it. I hadnt been back there in the past year, but I just now came home with carry-out. What a surprise. My food resembled nothing like I remembered. I dont even think it was Chicken Tikka Masala. First off, it was made with random chunks of thigh meat. Not breast meat, and certainly not made from skewers. 100% sure this is the slop that is served during lunch buffets. (It was 7pm BTW). Secondly, the naan was old and flat (aka buffet food). Not the fresh fluffy good stuff I was expecting. Thirdly, the entire dinner was $25!, $16 for the CTM (+$1 more than the other chicken dishes [and clearly stated on the menu *WHITE BREAST MEAT*]) $2 for the rice (I never remember being charged for white basmati rice) and $4 for the horrible naan bread (normally $2 maybe?). Soon after discovering this slop when I got home, I called them up to see what the deal was. Apparently, CTM is now made with non-kabob/tikka style thigh meat. I was just livid, because with carry-out, Im starving and Im not driving back. I told the guy I was talking too how bad this experience was and how I used to have such high regard for Chutneys. Tomorrow I will take my half eaten Indian slop back and expect a full-refund or a proper preparation. I am hoping this was from a bad cook and they will return to the high quality food that Id expect. Otherwise I will never go to Chutneys again. And will not be telling people how good it is like I have been.

We had some mixed reactions. We had invited another couple to join us before attending a program together later that evening. The four of us felt the food was quite tasty. We had lamb biryanni, coconut lamb, and eggplant bharta along with garlic/basil naan. The entrees were a bit pricey - at about $14 each compared to the $9-11 range we find elsewhere, but this is in an "upscale" area of Bellevue. However, charging $4.20 for the naan (usually $2.50 elsewhere) does seem a bit steep, as does the $2 charge for a small dish of rice. Although we only had water to drink, in all, our bill came to about $52, or about $13 per person. When we submitted our Living Social coupon along with our credit card, the adjusted amount that came back for signature was actually nearly $29 - less than the $30 reduction because a mandatory 18.5% tip had been added on. (The menus said the mandatory tip would be enforced on parties of 8 or more.) While we might have added that much ourselves, we felt it was a bit "cheeky" to assess that group charge on our party of four just because we had a "group" discount. We had arrived shortly after the 5:00 opening for the dinner session, with only one couple already there. Nonetheless, the floor didnt appear to have been swept in the interim between lunch and dinner, with some crumbs on my wifes chair that she brushed off before sitting. Unlike the scene in the online images, the "tablecloth" was a sheet of white "butcher" paper, which seemed a bit tacky for not only the location but also the prices charged.

Horrible service and very bad food. Description of me: Tall, African American woman, mid-30s, dressed like a single professional. I give this place one star because I cant give it none. I chose to dine here for the lunch buffet on a Saturday around 2:30pm. When I entered the restaurant, the only waiter saw me and did not greet me. The chef motioned to be to sit down - Im assuming he did not speak English because he was communicating with his hands as if to say seat yourself. A man of European descent entered the restaurant and the waiter acknowledged his presence and told him he would be with him in one minute. The man told the waiter that I was there first and the waiter showed me to a seat. I asked for a menu and he gave me a dinner menu and stood over my shoulder as I looked at the menu. I decided to eat the lunch buffet. I was hungry and did not want to walk to another restaurant. When I paid for the meal he looked at the hand-held pay device as I chose whether to give a tip and how much. I did not receive the courtesy of making my tip in private so I left no tip. Then, as I proceeded to leave, I had to turn around and ask him for my credit card. Awful service, I question if I was receiving discriminatory treatment, food was not good. I give thanks for the reminder to trust my instincts and to leave a restaurant if I do not feel comfortable. Do not eat here.

My family is from India, and I have to say out of all the many Indian restaurants I have been to, this was one of the worst. I ordered the muttar paneer, which did not come with naan, and the poor quality naan was nearly $4 extra! Even in downtown Chicago and New York I have not paid that high a price for bread. Overall, the meal was $20, which was incredibly overpriced. Enough with the prices... lets talk about the food. The muttar paneer was a horrific bastardization of the traditional recipe. The gravy was entirely watery without any cream or texture, and was filled with so much oil that it would separate and accumulate at the top of the container. The food was nearly entirely flavorless and disgusting, and the naan was crusty in some areas and not soft. The paneer itself seemed almost raw (its supposed to be fried or at least baked) to the point of tasting like tofu. Yes, the paneer tasted like tofu. Unless youve never ever had decent Indian food... I would strongly recommend staying away from this place. There are tons of amazing Indian restaurants in the area or other types of good food you can try.
