So, my girlfriend told me not to write a review because that would scare people off and they need to form their own opinions. Well, Im still writing a review but Ill be objective as possible. First of all Im basing the food off of my experience at an excellent restaurant in Lacey where I used to live. Its called Curry Corner and if you ever happen to be in the area the food is fantastic, the prices reasonable, and some times the chai is free; my brother who is a chef was visiting last year and he even complemented the food (heavy food snob) and we ate there twice in one week. But I digress. The Golden Indian food when compared to the Curry Corner is 3 stars and Im being objectively generous. To me, the chicken vindaloo was not even in the same ballpark; I could make it just as good (which is to say not very well); it lacked the flavor and richness of the Curry Corner and the portions were smaller for the same price. Next, the customer service. For starters the nan was served on a basket tray that did not have a paper lining, yet that crispy wafer thing they give you (that is free) WAS served on paper. But besides sanitary issues thats not really that big of a deal. Second, when my girlfriend and I walked into the door we stood there for a good minute even though the waiters saw us come in and were only about 20 ft. away. They just kept on talking and finishing whatever conversation they were having. Third, there is a sliding door where the chef passes the food to the waiters. There is also a bell there. This place is small, and there was no background music. Yet, everytime the chef opened the door, he would pound on that bell with what seemed like all his might. It was startling to say the least. Fourth, the guy who looked like the senior waiter kept issuing instructions to the junior waiter in Punjabi in a regular tone of voice and kept talking to him the entire time we were there. If waiters did this in English in any restaurant this would be very bad. Imagine going to Applebees (for lack of a better example) and one waiter saying from 10 ft. away, "hey dont pour it like that pour it the other way" all throughout your meal. In any case, maybe these were just one time things. I wont even tell you what we overheard the table next to us say about the food. But I will be fair and say the food was 3 stars and the service (for that day) barely reaches a two. The ambience is about a 2 but I dont really care about that as long as the food is good and the surroundings dont affect your appetite.

why five star ?? because they deserve it..... i have been visiting this restaurant from past two years now . before it was owned by other management and the food was awful . two years back i heard that the management has changed so i gave it a one more try and believe me this time food blew my mind . the food here is just amazing i licked even the last sign of delicious gravy from the dish :) lol . owner is extremely humble and creative. he surprised me so many times with his innovative dishes. he merges continental and western food styles to Indian cooking method to make something new. trust me i am very impressed . you can say i am exaggerating but no i am not. seeing their enthusiasm i can tell if they continue like this in future they will be crowned as the best Indian cuisine restaurant not only in Seattle but in whole Washington state soon. keep up the good work. and for customers - give them a shot you wont be disappointed and yes after good meal try there desserts its amazing........

Terrible customer service, misleading pricing vs portions. My spouse picked up an order to go for 2 Butter Chicken dinners w/basmati, garlic naan and a mango lassi, over $40.00 worth of food. We were in a hurry so didnt check the food (rookie mistake, I know!) When we got home, we had 2 tubs of butter sauce, one with 3 tiny cubes of chicken, the other with 2. He called to complain, and was advised that they give 10 pieces for each meal and thats it. He kept trying to tell them that there wasnt even 10 between the 2 entrées (oh man, theyre so little its almost comical!!!) and he just insisted there was nothing they could do about it. Wouldnt replace it, no offer to give a discount next time etc... Obviously they dont need our business, and we dont need their shabby food portions. They should change their menu to say "Butter Sauce...extra charge for chicken". We wont be back. Ever.

I just spoke with the manager to tell them our naan is hard and taste like it was left out all day and that there was a strand of hair in our rice. All he said was "thats impossible!" Then he tells me to bring it back when we live far away. I asked him to make a note of it for next time, given we eat here minimum 2x a month or more. I said hes ridiculous and hung up. Their food is usually always a little over cooked but today just surprisingly surpassed the usual mistakes and trying to force me to drive an hour out of my way, all in all is really absurd. Definitely lost a customer. On top of it all, I specifically asked the female worker to make sure the paneer isnt over cooked because it comes out rubbery. I go to pay and pick up and asked again and she said yes she made sure. Sure enough the paneer is still over cooked.

Very disappointed in the portion size for the price. We arrived around 6PM and were talked into the chicken special for $13.99 and a vegetarian special for $10.99. What arrived was a very small bowl of maybe 4 tiny pieces of chicken with about 1/4 cup of curry sauce. The vegetarian special was also puny in size. This was accompanied by a half cup of rice for both of us. While the flavors were good, the amount of food was lacking. The waiter talked us into getting some Naan for $1.75 but what arrived tasted bland, like white bread at best and actually was billed at $3.99. Also my chicken special was billed at $14.99 instead of $13.99. We are from out of town and will definitely not recommend nor come back to this place anytime soon.

Great food and amazing service. We came here after calling multiple places in the Southcenter area for table availability for 2. The wait time for all the places we called was at least 30 minutes, however, the hostess here immediately got us a table during peak dinner time! Score! The servers here treated us like family and were very attentive to our needs. I thought it was very interesting to see the way the food was brought out because of the cultural traditions, which was indicative of the authenticity of the restaurant. I ordered the chicken spinach masala curry which was absolutely delicious! Got a 2 in spiciness level to improve my tolerance- plenty for me! Highly recommend the Naans as well and mango lassi.
