We went to this place because it smelled so good from the outside. When we walked in the waiters didnt greet us, just grabbed menus and told us to follow them, when we opened our menus they smelled like someone had wiped them down with mildewed rags. The table was dirty and greasy and the entire place was dusty. We were brought tortilla chips with two types of salsa, the white salsa was gross and tasted funny. The tortilla chips were stale and soft. When we ordered our drinks the coke had no carbonation and the waiter acted like it was an inconvenience to fix it. Our waiter never smiled or asked us anything, just stood there staring at us. I ordered chile verde and it was nothing like chile verde ive had anywhere else, it didnt look like it or taste like it. Verde means green, the sauce was almost black and the meat was cut into tiny pieces that looked almost like noodles, chile verde is usually bigger chunks of pork with a green sauce. Then my husband cut into his burrito and there was a black hair in it. My husband has red hair and my kids and I are brunette so, it was inside when he cut it, definitely not ours. They took that meal off our ticket but really didnt apologize or act like it mattered. We will NEVER eat here again. Its really sad because its in a great location with all the shops and movie theatre.

I lived in Mexico and african american so use to rich foods...Mexican is my favorite, so trust this in details. The service was fast at 430pm...the food is flavorful, spicy enough... had shrimp quesadillas, chorizo con queso, and salsa and chips, oh and some other white sauce that was tangy but sweet...the fried ice cream was good too..they should have dropped the ice cream ball in the grease for 10 seconds because it was hard...but it was good. The bathroom was clean and smelled nice..the restaurant was very clean. Also location was good if you wanted to catch a movie or go to the candy store next door...or do some minor conservative shopping.

Service is quick but food not good at all. Ordered BBQ nachos and what I got was mexican chicken with a bottle of BBQ sauce poured over it. Swimming in sauce. Nothing else but that and melted cheese. Tried to eat 2 chips, was so bad called waiter explained it to him, ordered 2 tacos instead and got a soft tortilla with meat and nothing else. We so confused a that point didnt bother to call waiter again. When I got my bill I was charged for both. Upside my fountain drink was spot on and it a large glass. So if you are thirsty you are at the right place. NEVER GO THERE

Small place, crowded, loud. Only about 15 booths and 2 tables, and the bar section has about 8 stools. Servers are very fast, efficient, and work well together. Food came out fast, but tasted fresh and hot. Many options available for all types of tastes. I had the Ahi Tuna Taco, which was delicious. Came with 2 sauces which were great on the taco and with the chips. The cup they give for water is huge, and is enough drink for your whole meal. The menu smelled like it had been cleaned with an old rag, yuck. Bathroom was clean, and just a single person stall.

It was okay, you can tell its chain quality and a little pricey for what it is. It was strange mix of authentic Mexican food and very Americanized Mexican. For example the quesadilla was just cheese on a tortilla, the beef burrito was just ground meat (not even steak) in a tortilla with nothing else. But on the same menu I also got tacos al pastor with a little Queso Fresco which was fantastic despite coming on a hard shell taco the seemed like it was from the super market. Overall if you choose wisely it could be good but I dont think Ill go back.

We have a favorite Mexican restaurant near our home town that the family loves (especially our son). We go there every week. While in Williamsburg we had a craving for some Mexican and a couple of Margaritas for Mom and Dad. Could not have been happier with La Tapatio. Food was top notch fresh, Margaritas were great and service was beyond good. Final statement from our son was "best Mexican I have ever had". For us that pretty much says it all.

We have lived in a lot of different places and tried many mexican restaurants everywhere we have been. This is hands down my wifes and my favorite mexican place. The restaurant is very clean, the waiters are extremely friendly and never let my drink get empty before refilling, and the food is delicious with huge portions. The stuffed jalapeño are one of our favorites and the Enchiladas Rancheras are our favorite entree hands down.

We went to the Williamsburg, VA location. One of the most important things in a bussiness is the service. I cant talk about the food because they dont gave us the opportunity to try it. The service was awful, when we enter and said we need a table for 6 they automatically told us that the only 2 tables for 6 are taken. The thing is, they dont gave us any alternative like, wait or divide us in 2 groups. Never plan to go again.

My husband and I live in Williamsburg and searched around for a great Mexician restaurant (as this is our favorite food). We tried El Tapatio and havent been back to another one in the area. We LOVE the service, people and especially the food. We probably go at least once a week, sometimes twice, and always have an excellent experience. If you want authentic mexician and not bbq or something, go here!

The food here was delicious, however my actual experience sucked. The men who work here will shamelessly flirt on you to the point where you are uncomfortable. I personally am scared of a certain waiter who asked for my sisters number and repeatedly touched me. I recommend the boss of the restaurant should have a conversation on respect and flirting outside of the facility

We returned to El Tapatio two weeks after I left my left my Oakley sunglasses on our table. I was sure the sunglasses were long gone but the delicious food (and drinks) brought us back. After another great meal, I took a chance and asked the man at the host station and sure enough, they had saved my glasses! This will be our go-to Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg.

May 5th great day to try a new Mexican restaraunt. 9.99 giant margarietasbim told ended up being 16.99. Also did not honor their own coupon. Average good and higher than normal prices. I will not be a return customer and will not recommend anyone. The server was super nice on a good note. Go to one of the many other Mexican restaurants.

This was by far the best Mexican food weve had in a while. We had an early dinner here so its not cheap but you get what you pay for. They have an extensive menu with tons of choices and the service is excellent. Of course is was so much food we needed three to-go boxes. Worth every dime we spent. We will be dining here again very soon!

I am very skeptical when Mexican restaurant say "authentic" because a lot of the times thats not the case. I was raised in California so I know Authentic, this place is by Far Authentic Mexican. The people are friendly and nice and the food Is Amazingly Delicious!! Without A Doubt. Too bad I live in Jersey now.
