As an ardent fan of Indian food, I must say that this place deserves no less than 5 stars. If you are in New Jersey and want to try some delicious Authentic Indian food then Haldi Chowk is the right destination for you. Haldi Chowk used to be at a different location(Parlin) earlier and now it has moved to Middletown, NJ. I just went over this weekend for the lunch buffet and I had a fantastic experience. The Lunch Buffet on the weekend costs you around $14 for the Non Veg buffet and around $12 for the Veg buffet and its completely worth it. Now the most interesting thing is that Haldi Chowk has opted for a pretty unique and effective concept of a Table Service Buffet where the customers are served each item fresh and hot at the table itself. The customers could order the servers to bring in more food if they need more of some. I just loved this concept and I think this is the only restaurant in New Jersey to have implemented this. Coming to the taste and quality of the food, each and every item I tried, was nothing less than delicious. Right from the mouth watering Appetizers(Chicken Malai tikka, Chicken tandoori, Chicken Seekh Kabab, Fish Pakoras) to the finger licking Main Course(Veg Biryani, Butter Chicken, Chicken Saag, Goat Curry, Paneer Makhni, Aloo Baingan, Tawa Bhindi, Rajma, Butter Naans), did complete justice to the newly introduced Table Service Buffet concept. The Strawberry custard was the perfect ending as a tasty desert as well. The staff was extremely courteous and service was very good. The owners walk up to you from time to time to check if everything was going fine. I will definitely keep going back for more to this wonderful food destination.

A cozy BYOB, this place has always been pretty packed the past 3 times we have gone but we never had to wait for a table. They do take reservations, however I dont think you would need them (unless word really starts getting out and this place becomes super packed). The food comes out fast, hot, and delicious. You dont feel rushed to eat, and in fact the first time we went we probably spent 2 hours eating and drinking our wine. The waiters leave a nice cold carafe of water on the table and continuously refill it during your meal so you NEVER need to ask for water (what a great concept.... more restaurants should be doing this). If you like spice this is your place. I ordered my food the spiciest and it really was crazy hot (but delicious) so I suggest medium spiciness at the most unless thats what youre going for. Your curry dishes come with rice. I suggest ordering the garlic chili naan - it is absolutely INCREDIBLE and goes great with the curry sauces. Overall youre getting amazing Indian food at a very affordable price. It wouldnt be crazy to call this one of the best restaurants in Middletown at the moment. I will be updating my review the next time I go with pictures and my experience with the buffet - I hear it is quite good and with a nice variety.

1. We came for dinner. Exxxxxxtremely slow service. Never thought a-la-carte would take so long when most people were having buffet dinner. 2. Chicken tandoori was not well cooked, doubt if it was actually tandoori style. Spice was poorly used and hence tasted bland. We ate just 1 piece and left the rest! 3. Chicken Kurma was saving grace for our dinner. 4. Biryani was dry, chicken pieces not so well cooked. Poor quantity. Overall nice ambience, courteous staff but very slow service. Nothing authentic about the food served. Didnt live upto the ratings we read .....we drove 50+ miles and the experience was poor. As a travel and food guide, wont recommend this place for "authentic" Indian food. Look forward to improved food quality and service in future.

THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IN NEW JERSEY If you love Indian food then you must try out this place and I bet you will love the food and service Haldi Chowk provides. I am a frequent visitor and my favorite items are Goat Curry, Butter Chicken, Daal Makhani, Aloo Gobi and Saag Paneer. The Biryanis and breads are really good too. You should even try the lunch buffet which is quite reasonably priced with the same top quality food. In addition to the excellent quality and finger licking tasty food the service is top class and the entire staff is very friendly and courteous

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! For starters the food is great. Comes with good quantity and the quality of the food is amazing. Prices are a tad bit high, however, overall was a great experiance. Will definitely come here more! Buffet is throughout the week, weekdays for about 9$ and weekends for about 12$. However I ordered and still was good quality. Waiters/Waitresses were nice and food was prepared right out of the oven! Delicious taste and an eye catcher! Definitely recommend this! A++++

Awesome food, deliciously spiced, always fresh, always good. The owner, Deepak, is passionate about his food and is happy to discuss preparation. Every dish I have sampled is outstanding. Goat curry with cardamom, Lamb Rogan Josh, chicken tikka, tandoor, daal, channa shag, aloo Gobi, garlic naan, raita, chutneys, pappadam, its all good. The lunch buffet is a steal at $ 10.95. If you like Indian food you must go, you wont be disappointed.

Went on Wed 3/29 , was delicious ! I ordered butter chicken with rice and nan bread( which is fresh baked and hot BTW) and my boyfriend ordered chicken tikka masala , I highly recommend both dishes, if you dont want spice get the butter chicken its not spicy just creamy goodness! If you like spicy ask for it to be spicy and they will spice it up, my boyfriends chicken was spicy and it was delicious! Go there youll love it!

Legit. Love spicy food and I am used to ordering "hot" at other Indian places in the area. I ordered "hot" and holy it was SO SPICY. Like, lungs closed up spicy. I know that next time Ill probably order it "medium". Regardless, it was delicious and I ate every last bite. But please, Haldi Chowk, dont tone down the spices to please people with boring taste buds! It was refreshing and felt authentic based of the patrons.

Called almost two hours ago and tried to pay over the phone. Lady said she would call back, never did. When I called about 45 minutes later the lady said she cant take a card over the phone, BUT NEVER CALLED BACK TO TELL ME THAT. Her manager must have taught her how to use the credit card machine bc she finally did. Turns out that 45 minutes I was waiting, she never started the food!

A la carte was great when we went for dinner. Weve been hitting the buffets a lot lately - insanely good and a very good price to boot. I wouldnt be surprised if some of the more negative recent reviews originate from the other Indian joint down the road a bit. 4 out of 5 stars solely due to somewhat repetitive buffet options, but theyre doing a great job nonetheless.
