Perhaps this place is fine for a meal but anyone with half a brain should not bother with it for a drink or 2 on the weekend. Ive lived in the Reston area for 6 yrs now and have frequented the RTC often and the ATR as well. But I would say within the past year its gone down hill fast and plummeting fast. The clientele has unfortunately changed dramatically with a thug mentality now present on the weekends. "Do rags," baggy jeans, earrings and tattoos galore are now commonplace. Not to mention attitude. Why the former "dress code" isnt in full effect any longer is a disservice to the law-abiding patrons and those hoping to enjoy a drink with friends. You get the idea I assume. The DJ plays the kind of music that attracts this level of trash so nooone should be surprised either. The last time I was there and yes it will be the very last time I frequent there, there was Fairfax County Police inside milling around and a patrol car parked out front. Nice! Im unsure of anyone else but how many people want to spend their hard-earned money at an establishment where a police presence is common place and the clientele resembles a hip hop video? Sorry not me...this place is obviously only concerned about $ and the potential concerns of their patrons be damned. If youre looking to grab a few drinks with your friends, maybe hold a conversation without yelling to be heard and want to avoid any direct eye-contact with potential gang-bangers looking to thug it up, avoid the ATR like the plague and go anywhere else at the RTC.

This was always a go-to spot for my friends and I to meet at over fair priced food. Service at the dine in area has consistently been average. I recently stopped in for what will most likely my last time. After a few moments of watching the host spit game to, what seemed to be a patron, I interrupted with my question. I was told the bar area was still serving food and any open high tops are available to use. I eagerly sat down and waited for service. Some time had passed when I witnessed a group of people enter the bar and sit down close by. Wondering if anyone was coming to take my order, I see a lady from this new group go up to the bartender for a menu. Already having a menu of my own and my order decided, I approached the bartender. I stand facing directly at her, menu visibly in hand. Everytime i went to speak, she would turn and get busy again. This happened a few times. Patience running thin, the same girl has now decided what she wants and returned to the bar, right beside me. The bartender walks directly over to her and takes her order. I then say "miss, when you have a chance" to the cold reply of yet another shoulder. Maybe I was out of place for riding solo, maybe I am unapproachable? Not really certain what the perspective was of the staff this last visit, but I wont be returning. I left hungry and gave my money, happily, to Tavern 64.

We had dinner there 8/26, beautiful night, decent service, good and well-priced wine selection, but the food was pretty substandard for the price (Chilis is much better). The menu descriptions sounded great, but the food did not live up to expectations. For example, the burgers were clearly pre-made frozen patties served on stale buns with a single piece of limp lettuce and skimpy portion of fries. The menu said that my salad had chicken tenders on it with two "aged" cheeses, but instead it was a single, pre-made breaded chicken patty, overcooked and then chopped up -- like something from Sysco left in the fryer too long, and the cheese was low-grade, dry, and pre-shredded. We did mention our disappointment to the waitress, but she did not offer to resolve anything, nor did a manager stop by. She said "oh, you are the first one to complain about the food". And I would happily have written to the restaurant versus providing this review, but their web site has no contact email address.

When I got to the restuarant I put a reservation in for 5 adults 2 kids w/high chairs. I was told no need for a reservation since my party was coming in 20 min. 15 min later another hostess came up to me and told me it would be a 45 min wait. I asked why she said two big parties had made reservations and there was no room for us at the moment. 30 min later a party of 6, who had came in after us, got seated. We asked why....they said we had a party of 9!!!!!! 1 hour and 30 min. later we were seated. Our waitress didnt know anything about the menu or drinks. She had to leave several times to get our questions answered by someone else. We asked for some bread, since we were starving. They charged us for the few slices of bread!!!!! They didnt make any apologies about their screw-up. The least they could have done was comp us a meal, appetizer, dessert or a drink for their screw-up! But NO, nothing!! I wont be recommending this place to anyone!!:(

Visited ATR for DCs restaurant week and had the three-course lunch. I was a bit weary considering some of the negative reviews Ive seen on Google and Yelp, but my experience was excellent. Our waitress, Trudy, was personable and knowledgeable - she recommended the crab cake for my entree, and it was fantastic. My starter, the chopped salad, was just fine and large enough to be a meal on its own... I was also able to sample the buffalo chicken dip, which was quite tasty. For dessert I had what I believe was called the carbomb - a Guinness brownie with Irish cream ice cream on top - it was absolutely delicious. The service was great, it was ton of food for $20, and high quality to boot. Restaurant week or no, I will be visiting again.

This restaurant chain must have been started by venture capitalists, rather than someone with a passion for food or beer. Their beer selection is mediocre at best, especially when it comes to lagers. Weird for a place whose very name is beer centric. Ambiance and gimmickry abound, backlit menus being one such example. My jumbo lump crabcake had one lump in it. The rest appeared to be backfin. My companion ordered brisket. It was about what youd get for one third the price at any half way decent diner. In summary, theyre selling a cheap poor quality product and wrapping it in some window dressing to lend it credibility. I will never go there again. Get rid of the backlit menus and buy some quality ingredients.

The decor was very nice and the restaurant was trying to be an upscale grill bar. At $10.00, one would expect cheese and the usual burger trimmings for the Tap Room burger, but cheese and other fixings increased the already inflated price. Also, four of us ordered this burger, two asked for medium and two for medium well preparation. The burgers all were cooked the same and certainly had the appearance of premade frozen patties, not fresh made, which one would expect for the price. Overall just generally disappointing, and we would go to one of the other many restaurants in the area before going back here gain. It was just very bland. Service was okay.
