Wow... Heck of a experience here... Also an easy 5 star review. We arrived here around 10:30am on a Saturday morning and the place was full. After giving our names we were about 3rd in line to be seated. Theres a large beverage bar available and we made cups of coffee and hung out for about 5-10 minutes while waiting for our table. In no time at all we were seated and immediately our server stopped by and told us about the specials available that day. I looked at my menu and knew right away I was going to have a difficult time selecting my entree. Why so difficult? Well because there was a ton of delicious items to choose from. My friends were having the same problem. After a few minutes our server stopped by and asked if we were ready to order, we werent. No problem, she offered to freshen our drinks, bring water, etc. and left us to decide what we were going to order. Eventually we were all ready to proceed and got our orders in and I took a moment to look around. The kitchen was behind where I was sitting so I had to turn around and look. It was an open air affair and they have a counter with stools available as well. If I had been by myself thats definitely where I would have been sitting. I will say from what I could see that the staff that was working in the kitchen knew what they were doing. They were hustling and running like a finely oiled machine. Also they were doing it quietly. No loud yelling or drama leaking into the dining room. After about 15 maybe 20 minutes our food arrived (again the place was full) and it looked awesome. I had a dish called the Breakfast Pie which was loaded with eggs, cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers and red skinned potatoes. I added bacon, and you can also add sausage or ham if you prefer. For the side I ordered home fries. This dish was incredible and I almost didnt finish it due to the huge portion. My friend Jessie ordered the dish called Yo Hala on the Square. It comes with two slices of challah bread stuffed with a mixture of bananas, brown sugar, cream cheese and hazelnut syrup, prepared like French toast. This is then topped with with a blueberry strawberry compote and powdered sugar. It was a beast! Her husband Dave had the Blueberry Crepes special. Im not sure what was inside the crepes but they were also smothered with the same blueberry strawberry compote. All of these entrees were simply fantastic and photos are enclosed. Service was also outstanding! This was definitely my favorite dining out experience on this trip to Charlotte. I see they have 2 locations up in Richmond Va so maybe Ill get lucky and theyll open a location in Hampton Roads in the future.

We found Metro Diner the week it opened, and went in because the window said Chicken and Waffles! Went on a Friday night for dinner and they were about half full, no wait (I dont expect it to stay no wait once people discover it). Was seated and had an older gentleman named Ed as our waiter. He was great, got everything we needed, and was very attentive and friendly. The diner has a delicious looking menu, along with specials, and they look like theyll be getting their alcohol license soon as beer, wine, and mimosas are coming soon. Theres a self serve beverage counter (great for my friends who down their drink in about a minute), but Ed also offered to bring us our drinks (great for my older parents). The menu looks delicious, and I got the Cajun pasta special, which was delicious, enough for a dinner and two lunches for me. Flavorful, especially the grilled chicken in it, but not spicy. Ordering was easy, though there were a few hiccups as theyre using waiters to order on ipads (which seems to mean faster food if our experience is any indication). You also pay on an ipad, but instead of it sitting on the table, Ed pulled all of our order up and then passed the ipad to us to leave a tip (you can type in the amount rather than an auto percent), and sign and done. The only glitch was a soup came out after the meal instead of before, but it was delicious and they comped the soup and apologized, so it was completely fine. I definitely reccomed this place, and cannot wait to go back and try the chicken and waffles!

Party of five all had different items from menu. The fish and chips was a three to four in size and taste. Texture of fish used was a three due to the soft and flakey texture of fish. The fries were hot and good. The two star entrees were the shrimp and grits and the chicken pot pie, both tasty comfort foods. Chicken pie had lots of chicken and vegetables and was large and thick. The shrimp and grits was outstanding with great taste and lots of shrimp and some small bits of andouille sausage. The grits were in form of two grit cakes coveredwith the cream sauce. Last two in group had the chicken pasta special which while large did not have any flavors as it was overtaken by the heavy cheese sauce. The French dip and fries was reported to be excellent as well as large enough for two meals. The pasta person while liking pasta said was too heavy of a dish while the French dip person said they would reorder it. Only problem was wait staff. While pleasant were not always attentive or knowledgeable about all their products. Think they will become better as they and the kitchen stafff become more attuned to each other and they to their customers. Want to return to try their breakfast menu which also looked good.

Menu was full of new and interesting selections, so I chose biscuits and gravy as a base line for this new restaurant. Biscuits and gravy was good. Gravy had a slight raw flour taste, but still good. Biscuits were good. Order comes with hash browns and two eggs, a lot of hash browns. This is carb loading at its best. Eggs were done correctly (over medium). Added an order of bacon. Unevenly cooked but good. Coffee was good, but stronger than I normally like. Server kept coffee full. Coffee bar was available. If I want a self serve restaurant, Ill go to MickyDs. Server was cheerful and prompt. Electronic ordering pads used by server to place table-side order was redicously slow (cumbersome). Pay server for meal was terrible. Server was busy with large group. Manager finally took payment. Price: $16.48 + Tip. = $20 Ugh!

Simply awesome customer service. On a recent visit I had ordered to go a fish sandwich.... (they have a really good fish sandwich by the way). When I got home I realized they had forgotten the fries :( I called back in and they said "sorry, we will have them when you get back here" . Upon getting there I went in and picked them up and walked out. A nice young lady, Becki Geary came running after me. Told me those were not the fresh hot ones and that a new batch was being cooked especially for me. So I waited in the car and she came out to bring me a large styro full of very hot fries and a coupon discount towards the next visit. Very impressed. I been to many other places that could care less and offer absolutely no acknowledgement of wasted time
