Ive eaten here twice in the past month, which personally is a big deal because I live in Newport News. Each time Ive gotten a BBQ Chix bowl and both times it was aaahhh-mazing. This past time I was with my husband and our friend and we decided to try the wings...BOTH flavors. The Marakkeshy wings were so surprisingly good. It was seasoned so well and has a certain sweetness, but wasnt overpowering. The Lupo wings were also pretty awesome, but its definitely a taste thats hard to get rid of. The chicken was cooked really well and they smelled super amazing. I love where this hip restaurant is located and how simple the inside decor is. Its almost exactly what I expected it to look like after hearing about this place from Handsome Biscuit. Theres a bar type seating facing the outside of the restaurant with the windows open. Super prime during the warmer days here. Ambiance is super chill and the music allows for that. The restrooms are gender neutral and the choice of wallpaper is hilarious. The art drawn on it is pretty cool too. And yes, you do have to wave your hand over the toilet lid.

Fresh, surprising food in a trendy setting. The rice bowls and sandwiches are creative, though the portions are a on the lite side. There are options to suit every diet, and its easy to have a quick meal here. The service is a little confusing. When you walk in, all the staff are towards the back at a coffee shop style counter, so we werent sure whether to take a seat anywhere, order at the bar, etc. Someone came over to seat us, but there was a little bit of disconnect (you dont except to wait to be seated in what is decorated to look more like a bar/coffeeshop). Service was pretty nonexistent, even on a Friday night, that is until we had finished eating, when a staff member who hadnt even been our server came over with the iPad for us to pay and tip.

Nice, friendly service and tasty food! The rice bowls are deeeeelicious. You have to be pro active with making yourself known- I would recommend walking up to the bar first to order and then getting a table/seat. My only qualm is the open garage door. Blasting AC to make the inside comfortable, I feel like this is incredibly wasteful and just burning through power/resources. Which is kind of weird, this place is very contemporary and everyone seems hip? Besides my Captain Planet bit, I keep going back and really love the food and friendly service.

Hipster vibe, food is amazing. Same people own handsome biscuit and toast. Have tried all their sandwiches and each one is perfection. Would highly recommend the privateer and for dessert their cookie sandwich with whipped cream cheese. Music sometimes can be loud but thats not a huge deal breaker. They have a garage door front so on good weather days you can expect a fresh air breeze. Theres a mix of small tables and long bench/tables so when its busy you might sit next to new friends!

Field guide is amazing. I frequent this restaurant. Its absolutely delicious. The rice bowls are so complex, tasty, and on the healthy side. This is a perfect place for vegetarians. There are veggie options and you can also replace things with tofu. They have frozen drinks that have seasonal flavors ranging from dreamsicle to frozen versions of your favorite cocktails. The service is fun and attentive . The location is large, unique and clean.

Ok. I dont know where to start. The night my husband and I selected to go could not have been more perfect. The establishment was wonderful. Nice atmosphere with its creativity. The staff was very accommodating, helpful, kind, and suggestive. The food we selected was very AMAZING! Sooooo good I ordered another to go. Would I come back again? Heck yeah! Awesome! AAAAA+ for ratings Thanks for the welcoming encounter. Thank you!

The restaurant was clean and the bathroom was clean. The menu is very limited and the food was not worth the price. Beers were overpriced and they checkout process is super awkward. You run my card on an iPad and put me on the spot to tip while you stare at me, no thank you. I would not recommend, still not sure why anyone would give this place five stars.

Dropped by and took some good stuff back to my office for lunch today. Brown rice bowl with an Italian Sausage, avacado, a slaw blend and their YOH sauce... delicious. The service while I waited was very pleasant as well. Price for lunch was reasonable, great value overall. Check it out, its a healthy alternative.

Friendly, communal eating! Great garage door open eating when the weather cooperates!! Rice bowls, sandwiches, wings and SHEBA BREAD PUDDING AND OATMEAL CREAM PIE. A favorite is the Never Lost - split sausage, red peppers and fried egg (hard) with a delicious aioli says. Cant go wrong here!

Great portions everything on average will run you $8-$9. Great atmosphere, the food was delicious. I tried the Chicky Chicky Parm Parm, and the Chilly Fish rice bowl with brown rice ( I recommend both). The guy behind the counter was nice and laid back along with the atmosphere.

Hands down the best restaurant on Granby Street! Friendly service, fantastic atmosphere, and amazing food! You owe it to yourself to visit this establishment. If you do, Chilly Fish Bowl with Avocado, Bacon, Extra Red Curry and a fried egg and you wont be disappointed!

I asked a local friend what my first meal on Granby St should be and without hesitation she told me Field Guide. Having just finished a Ms Kodiak with the feta slaw, I would completely agree. Plus the crew working were awesome. I will be back soon and often.

We stayed in Virginia Beach which to be frank has some of the worst food options known to man. However, we stumbled across Field Guide on a Friday evening, had wondrous service and an absolutely delicious meal. Made the final evening of our trip very special.

I felt like I got to experience a little bit of Norfolk while eating at Field Guide. I ordered three different times while I was there and everything was delicious! I highly recommend this place if youre in the area or just driving up the coast.

Awesome little place! Small brewery vibe. Amazing food! I had the Chicky parm sandwhich (very good) the wings were to die for! The sauce was perfect! It has a slight kick but wasnt to spicy. Best wings I think I have ever had!

Super cozy and wonderful place to get food, the rice bowls are BOMB and they have a really cool selection of drinks (and off the wall sodas for those under 21). Came in with a big group late at night and service was wonderful.

Sandwiches were well done and presented in an appealing manner. On top of that, the taste of the food is great! Service is also nice and helpful. The decor was done well and the music provided a nice vibe to the place.

Great food for a great price. The salad was more than I could finish and the Park Dog was a very creative dish that I will be getting again. The atmosphere was very relaxed and modern. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I like the communal seating and open air setting. I was thrown off a bit by the counter ordering method. The whole "sorry, hold onto that thought while I get a refill" wasnt my favorite part of the deal.
